A claim that seems so logical that it should make absolutely no sense at all to make a speech about this specific claim. But, is it, is it actually practiced? Is feeding a sedentary dog more kibbles than a horse that size is fed hay, does that sound like a suited food for a dog? Or is feeding a vegetarian feed to an obligate carnivore, a suited food? But it is fed. There are still cats and ferrets kept at a vegetarian diet, even though their complete body is made to digest meat and meat only, and their digestive track is too short to digest carbohydrates or other plant feed.
People say that if the animal survives on it, if it becomes at least moderate of age, it is suited for that animal. Well, I actually like that claim, because, if that is true, Mac Donalds is a very suited food for humans eat very day. We tend to survive on it and reaching mid 50’s is not unlikely if we watch our bodyweight.
But sadly enough, some specified animal feeds aren’t even meeting that criteria. Some animal feed aren’t even as good as Mac Donalds is to humans. It is lacking the most basic needs for that specific animal. Guinea pig feed that is lacking vitamin C, which just as with humans can cause scurvy, or dog feed that has so little essential proteins that the dogs are either lacking in those proteins or getting overweight. It means that is literally not good enough to survive on, while it is still being sold as complete feed.
Therefore I might have to specify my claim, sad as may be. Maybe it should be this: Specified animal feed should be legally obliged to be suited for the specified animal. And yes, this makes for more rules. Yes, this makes for more control by the government, but also: yes, this makes less animals suffer. Yes, this makes a lot of animals healthier. Sometimes apparently, the ignorance of people is too big, their knowledge is too little and the greed of both the producers and the consumers is somehow too large to let the health of animals to be of importance to them. By enforcing at least minimal standards of animal feed, let us get the specified animal feed at least a little bit better than Mac Donalds."
