Achjee, dat arme paard... al bij het horen van de hoefsmid gaat het paard al flippen...
Citaat:he view and sounds and smell of a farrier proved to be far too much.
A very clear sign of probable abuse by other farriers of William in the past.
As it was very evident, that there was nothing to gain in continuing at this moment and start a fierce battle we would surely loose, I put him back into his stable, before any real harm was done to horse or people around.
Another farrier a week later, just walking up to his stable to see him, met with really extreme agression (opened mouth, kicking with his front feet, trying to bite through the bars). The smell of him was enough to set him off.
Just to ad, that in daily life, he is as docile and friendly as he can be.

Gewenning aan het geluid...
Citaat:After a few very jumpy "sessions", he is getting used to the noise.
Picking up his feet (especially hind feet) becomes easier.
Nevertheless, my expectation is, that next time when the farrier comes, he will need a mild sedation.
afterinfo: although things seemed to be easier under sedation, he woke up after 10 minutes and could not be shod again.
So I am training further.
