Update Midnight:
As you might have noticed I have wrapped the lower part of her tail. She is rubbing the wall so much she was destroying the braid I had in it. So wrapping it helps protect it. Missy's will be interesting next year as her tail is so thick I have to put into three braids first then I can wrap.
You have probably noticed she is very active, which is not normal for Midnight in her stall. She likes her stall and would sleep all day if she could. Must be where her foals get it from as Maddie as a yearling had to sleep at least 4 times a day stretched out for and hour or more. Jessy is the same way.
Midnight continues to show wax and did test high last night but not high enough. As Savanna says when she starts streaming milk you better be on watch. She knows from experience as with Maddie we were at Krugers getting supplies and get a call from Savanna in a panic. Mom Midnight is going to foal she is streaming milk. This was about 2:00 and we were about 2 hours away. I told her she will be fine, we will be home by dark. Well we got home, feed the crew, turned Midnight out for a short time as she was wanting to come back in. Was brushing her when her water broke and about 45 minutes later we had a new filly.
So right know are we close? Only Midnight knows that, but by watching her she has to be making progress because this is a mare that just doesn't get excited over the little things. But put her in a trailer where lamas have been and you will get excitement. Can you tell we have owned her a long time. Yep, 16 years and bought her from Kruger Ranch when she was just 3 months old. If we only new then what we know now about this mare I wouldn't have waited to breed her. But hay she in great health and actually surprises the vets and breeders each year as she just keep looking better and better instead of worse after soon 7 babies.
