dat dacht ik ook al toen ik de camera zag......dan maakt ze zich vast niet druk. Binnen hoeveel tijd moet een veulen staan(dacht zelf een uur?)?

Kyra heeft het heel erg druk met dr staart vanavond en heeft het veulen ook al terug staan duwen

Thank you all for your prayers. I had alot of hopes for this foal, but it wasn't meant to be. I woke up from a nap and peeked out at the girls to find Chantilly down and rolling. Not unusual given that it's raining here, but she was rolling up on her back - always a bad sign. We went to the barn and she eagerly came into the stall. She was shivering and very tired.

Our wonderful vet arrived in 20 minutes and took over. She checked the cervix, which was wide open, and proceeded to check the foal. It was very twisted, head back and not moving. Chantilly was at 290 days which is not too early for some of our mares, but obviously too early for this little guy. Our vet tried unsuccessfully to remove the foal, but Chantilly's contractions were too strong and she kept fighting our attempts by pushing against us. Our vet told us that we had to hurry to save Chantilly, and that would mean sedating her and almost knocking her out. It was that or we would lose her too. We agreed and after three shots (she fought us very hard) we were able to get her down and remove the foal.

Chanitlly is not out of the woods. Due to the amount of trauma she has suffered there is a possibility of hemorrage. If it's a small bleed it's not a big deal. If it's a large bleed there is nothing we can do...so prayers are very much appreciated.

She will remain in Tonya's stall until tonight when we do chores. If she continues to roll and thrash we will leave her in the larger stall to minimize the possibility of casting. She has already cast once with us there.

We are on strict orders to not give pain meds until 6 pm, so she will be uncomfortable. If this bothers you please do not watch. I appreciate the eyes, but we follow our vets advice and that is what we are doing. After all she's been through she will be very painful.

Thank you Sandy, Penny & Lainey - I was a wreck...but I'm dealing. Praying that I will still have my mare when this is over.

Nee idd, nog seeds geen staand veulen helaas...
Nu moet ik zeggen dat de merrie ook niet echt signalen geeft voor het veulen. Niet dat ze er niets mee doet, maar ze geeft het veulen geen prikkels om te gaan staan....

met wat ik nu zie weet ik het nog niet zo zeker..
Had net het gevoel van niet maar ze is wel anders als normaal..
ze heeft niet genoeg uier maar het is een maiden dus dat zegt niets
