Dit las ik op marestare:
Just got off the phone with Janet...she is going to be calling her vet as baby seems like he is a little premature....will post more updates as I know them....please say a little prayer for this little handsome man.

Thank you all so much for being here with us...we enjoy having you all here...Janet says thank you all for the Congrats also.

Op het moment zijn ze met het veulen bezig
Het lijkt wel of ze verband om het achter been doen

Ja, vreemd dat verband, hij zal te slap zijn in z'n achterbenen?

En is het op dit moment niet heel belangrijk dat dat veulentje snel z'n biestmelk krijgt?
Desnoods melken ze het paard en geven het met de fles, of is dat niet mogelijk?

Ah oke ik zie dat het veulen z'n biest al krijgt met de fles!

Prematuur betekent te vroeg geboren (pre=voor, maturatie=rijping) dus het veulen is eigenlijk nog niet volledig 'klaar' om geboren te worden..Dat betekent dus meestal (en in dit geval schijnbaar ook) een zwak veulentje.

Hopelijk komt hij er goed door..

Het veulen heeft even gestaan op eigen kracht, maar z'n achterbenen zakken nog erg door. Hopelijk komt alles goed met hem...

Een udate over Missy's veulen Harley staat op hun messageboard:
As I stated before...Harley is one that should of baked the extra month. He is premature....skin is paper thin...muscles so very weak...eyes werent open and he couldnt open them...Although...he does have one open now and it was great to see that great big brown eye look at you. Let me tell you...this boy is a fighter as I am sure you all have seen. Missy did drop her milk on her own...We have gotten I want to say about 150cc in him...Janet will continue to give it too him as he needs to rest them legs and he cant stand real well....The vet was called...Janet talked to her about what is going on and she pretty much said that he probably wouldnt make it...Well Janet is going to do everything in her power to help Harley out. She is going to go and get some PVC piping to put on them back legs to help brace them as what we have on him now aint doing a whole lot. Harley has also pooped alot and I mean alot. Janet and Harley could use alot of strong prayers right now. This is a very hard time for Janet as she has been waiting for this baby for two years and he is exactly what she hoped she would get.
Ok...I think I am rambling right now and have no idea what I have typed and what i havent.
We will keep you updated the best we can...right now Janets focus is on Harley only but she cant thank you all enough for being here for Her, Harley, and Missy.
Also as you all have seen...Missy is just the best mommy right now...She is doing so good for being a maiden mare.

Well time for me to shower as I am covered in baby horse poo and Missys milk..I cant stand the smell of myself...Take care all and thanks many many times over again...you all are just the best!!!

Die Missy wat een supermoeder... ze laat echt alle hulp toe voor haar kleine vent! Hij is wel een vechter zeg, steeds maar proberen te staan en het gaat steeds "beter"

marijeR hoelang mag een paard nou maximaal in zwangerschap lopen voor er ingegrepen wordt?
Omdat Copper al zo lang overtijd is.

twee jaar wachten en dan dit ik hoop dat het goed komt met harley maar ik ben niet gerust afwachten maar heeft iemand wel eens gehoord dat het veulen ging staan en het heeft overleefd?

Waarschijnlijk is de dekkingsdatum een maand later, dus zou nog een maandje kunnen duren Bloos!

Het veulen van Missy, Harley, is net weer gevoed en probeert weer zelf te staan, dat lukt wel heel snel, maar hij valt gelijk weer om, arm beest...
Zou dat goed gaan komen?
