Veulen ligt maar en volgens mij is er een dierenarts bij .. heb er al de hele dag een raar gevoel over..

Updates

Butter Rum Due 3/29 **FILLY 4/9** @ Dragongate Farm
The vet was the guy- he's been our horse vet for a long time. The girl who was holding Butters is a potential student, both were great. He said he was concerned about the lethargy of the foal when he was attempting to check it's eyes. Specifically that we couldn't make her stand. However, she was well hydrated and had food in her stomach. I advised him that we had just witnessed her running around the stall like a derby contestant and maybe she was a bit tired. When the vet drew blood and also when he gave her a tetenus and I believe an antibiotic, she fought with every inch of her long legs. He was pleased to see that, and was also pleased to see her nurse hungrily. He said some mares have very painful contractions and over-full udders and the banamine was a good idea. He also said that sometimes the humans make a situation worse by not allowing mares time to adjust and forcing the nursing, etc. I hope we didn't do that, I don't think we did but, again, we're not experts by any shot. Anyway, the nursing situation resolved itself with the banamine. He examined the placenta which was intact and advised that Mandy did a good job. Blood work will be evaluated later. All in all, I think we got a pretty good report.

Hi all, update time, at chore time Dream, the red/white mare in stall 9 had a hard bag and nipples filled, and with the way she has been acting tonight, she is quite close, JJ is right behind, I think, but then, who are we to guess??ha, Shirley, left side of 7 has just a bout a full bag, and so does Bell,(belissima) she is the buckskin in the other split going the other direction, stall 2, painted is in front, tomorrow I think I will again, again, take a chance and put bell in the front half, since she has a good sized bag, and painted does not have much, yep, she will do it again to us, wont she, but I know I have all of you eyes, waiting to beat her at her own game, so far, with 3 foals, she has tricked us everytime, but Bell has a larger bag, so going to take that chance, I think, ha, Painted does have a pretty loose back end tho, sooo will think this over tomorrow, hope some more hurry and foal, so we have more good healthy foals on the ground, take care, all, dont feel bad ever about calling,if you think someone is doing something unusual, we appreciate the eyes, thanks all, it was really nice here, but in the mornings it is chilly, so we blanket the foals, today, we just did not unblanket them, the heat is on in the barn, and I saw Babes foal rolling and rubbing, must have an itch under his blanket, but tomorrow after it warms up and the chill is out of the air, will take them off again, tami
