Angel lijkt wel onrustiger dan eerder. meestal als ik keek stond ze in de hoek, zag ik alleen haar kont. nu is ze toch steeds aan het loen, schuren, staart heel erg af.....

ja soms wel jammer, dan wordt angel wat onrustig en dan komt dat vrouwtje weer en dan is de onrust gelijk weer weg. en dan bedoel ik niet onrustig omdat ze haar al ziet/hoort komen. nu ga ik ook altijd vaak bij mijn merrie kijken als het bijna zover is, maar ben er ook wel van overtuigd dat ze het dan langer inhouden of is dat een gekke gedachte?

Mijn paard heeft bij de vorige eigenaar een veulen gehad, en die gig pas bevallen voor dat ze er was, dat is ook wel gaaf!

Maar ik snap je wel kannie, maar misschien heeft ze het zelf niet door..

Hey Guys~

I finally got my second cam working Neely is on cam. She is a 12 year old buckskin mare(obviously!). This will be her 6th foal. She likes to be REALLY sneeky! She can go from standing in the corner resting a leg looking like she's snoozing to having the baby! She does like to lie down (even flat out) so I don't need alerted unless something looks suspicious. As always, don't hesitate to call. She is due 2/2. She went 2 weeks early last year. I think she has a short while yet. But, these mares like to make fools of us! She does not like to be watched when she foals so she'll probably keep her legs crossed forever since I told her the whole world will be watching Thanks for watching

They were all with the buck for about 6 weeks, and they all settled. I could accept the next cycle theory, except that the vet ultrasounded her for x amount of days along, which (I think) translated to a due date of 1/2. Now, I can buy the fact that when he said 50 days (or whatever he said) I miscounted.

I don't think that she would be a whole 28 days off for a couple of reasons. First, she and Luna are best buddies, herd and penmates. So their cycles are very much in sync. When I found out that they were only 2 days apart in due dates, that didn't surprise me at all.

Plus, Aurora has now had colostrum in her udder for about a week and half, maybe 2 weeks. Can anyone shed light on that?

I hope she goes soon.

Morning update: Moon did some serious butt rubbing last night. there was white hair everywhere!!! She is definitely bagging up but still has a ways to go.

Both girls still had hay when I went out. I agree that I would really like to see Kita get this foal on the outside so she can relax and rest again, but she seems determined to do this in her own time I suppose. I don't see any changes this morning, so I guess the waiting game continues. sigh...

Midnight

Starlight Ranch Update!!!

Good morning everyone, sorry we did not update last night, fell asleep and then forgot to get back onto the computer.

Anyway she has started dripping milk from both teats but the milk has not yet turned to white. Midnight is a heavy milker so this has happened with her before. Nothing to worry about as it is not the milk with colostrum. She is loosening in back which is good. As she gets loser you will see her do a lot of butt rubbing, yawning, bitting at her belly, kicking at her belly and circling and pawing.

As you have probably noticed she is not a very excitable mare and spend most of her day eating, standing or sleeping calmly while looking at her belly once in a while. Other than that not much excitement, so when she does get active you will have a good clue she is getting down to business.

I will update this evening after doing her evening check, also if thing change during the night I will also update then.

Missy will be moved into a foaling stall on the 19th. Big change this year from the past two years is that she is building a bag and a good one at that. The past two years she has had very little bag built right up until a few hours until she foaled. This years she seems to be doing a lot more early preparing. Sure would be cool if she foaled on time this year instead of 10 days late like she did the past two years. If she does foal on time many she is telling us she likes a February baby better than a January.

Missy hides her foals really well as the has lots of room for it to stretch out. But she is looking very pregnant and won't be but a few weeks and she will share her new addition.

Thank you all for keeping an eye on her.. She is doing well, one day she seems to get a big bag, the other day it is small again..
Guess we just have to be patient on her...

Last night we had some computer problems, and when that happens the cams are down, I'm sorry for that.. Since I work on my laptop
most of the time I don't always notice problems right away on the desktop comp..
But I think everything works good again...
