*UPDATE**

Saleen is staying the night at the vet. She is shaky but awake and eating hay. Her owner is on the way home and may update further here.

Please continue posting your prayers and well wishes on the prayer thread.

_______________________________-

Thank You for the prayers, I'm still in shock, and just not sure what to say but thank you.

Here's a pic of poor Saleen after she woke up. She is in a LOT of pain right now, but stable. She's at Tufts, so it's the best place she could be in a few states.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y32/Ph ... 1_4464.jpg

She is staying the night so they can keep an eye on her through the night and give her the nice pain killers

________________________________

Thank You for the prayers, Saleen is going to really need them to pull through this.

Both kids were dead. I knew the second I put my hand in there and felt them. Then I couldn't reach the kid to reposition it right cause it was so far down. Then I felt the front leg and it was bent weird and wouldn't move. Thats when I realized the kids weren't going to be able to come out without help. Course my regular vet didn't answer the phone and neither of the other sort of local vets answered their phones, so I called Tufts. I just said I was bringing her in and they said ok and they would get information from me once I was on the road and headed to them. So Thank God for them. They were so helpful.

Once we got there they brought out a gurney and rushed her into a treatment room. I got to stay with her and held her head still while they tried to get an IV in her. They blew the vein on the one side and and had to start all over on the other side. She stood patiently the whole time despite the hard contractions she was having. They also did an ultrasound and didn't find any kid heart beats. Then they drew blood to run electrolyte levels before surgery and gave her fluids. I stayed with her until they were ready to take her back to the OR, then we went to the waiting room. And wait we did. The kids ended up being deformed, and would have never come out without a c-section. So I know I did the right thing, for a while I was questioning it. I wanted to see them and they let me. Since they are a teaching school they are going to do necropsys on the kids to see what went wrong for free.

We got to be with Saleen right when she was waking up from surgery. She was shaking like crazy and would call out and look for kids. It really tore me up inside. They ended up giving her the good pain meds and she calmed down after a while. But she would still groan and moan in pain. She did eat some hay, and had a weird craving for shavings. She is staying at the vets over night and should be able to go home tomorrow. They are going to call us in the morning. She still needs your prayers since recovery from a c-section is really hard in goats. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to get the bad news phone call.. *sigh*

So thank you again everyone, I wanted to let you know what happened, since I am sure you were all wondering. I know I always wonder

Sandy Due 1/12 @ T & J Farms
T & J Farms is back!! Praying for a wonderful season of new babies. First up at our farm is Sandy. She is a nubian/pygmy cross nanny bred to black/white pygmy billy named, Colonel. Her earliest due date is January 12th, 2011. She is bagging more and more each day and her belly has dropped. The cam will be split in the quad from time to time until she gets closer to kidding, then I will start to put her on the screen by herself. The other screen is outside on my two mini mares that are due in 2011 also. I just like to keep an eye on them, too. Thanks for watching and I will keep you updated on Sandy's progress!

Xena Due March 2, but could be due sooner @ Sprucewood Farm
I have my 17 yr old Morgan mare, Xena, on cam 1. Xena should be due March 2. She is VERY large already and I am suspecting she may have caught on an earlier breeding. This mare is very difficult to get in foal. I am happy, after 5 years of trying that we caught her. Please help to watch her early because of her ambiguous date and large size. The vet is watching too!

So please join in and help out watching Xena!

Ellie Due 1/16 @ Huston Ranch
Sat 1/8 - Day 326:
Yes, those are wild bunnies...we have a TON of them! The toads in our creek are really loud this time of year too, but I don't think we'll see them in the stall! I think those bunnies are as much action as we're going to see tonite!

(eerder Fri 1/7: Day 325:
Sunny here in San Diego! Ellie is still waxed, but nothing else seems new. She went jogging down the pasture to visit with some of her other "horse" friends earlier. She is no longer a "hoover" with her hay - she seems to take her time eatting which is NOT typical for her, although she eventually finishes ever meal!)

Chantilly Lace *Heavy Wax & lost Mucus Plug* @ Mulligans Run Farm
No changes. She can't get any more ready than she is....she just has to decide that she can't hold it in any longer.

Mia - aka RH Decide On Me - due Jan 31 - 321 days Safe Zone @ Starlight Ranch
Hello Everyone,

Sorry forgot to update last night and was up early this morning and on the road. But arrived home in time for everyone to get trimmed!!

Mia has not been a happy girl, think the foal is doing some shifting that is causing pressure as she wants no one around her out in the pasture. Her attitude has changed some and has been more uncomfortable when in stall, have a feeling the baby is moving back. Good thing as it looks like her bag is finally filling, hope to see some changes in the morning when I take some pics.

Will update in the morning.

Barlinks Vanity Page aka Amy - 336 days - Due 1/14/2011 - Bagged up and close!!

....... Amy is CLOSE!! She has little plugs on her teets ( that's about as close to "waxing" as she gets )...... before I brought her in for dinner, she was outside stomping back feet and pawing. She is definitely down to the last days Her stomach has dropped and behind is beginning to really soften. I think it could be anytime!!! Have a great night everyone........Leanne

Kelly @ Sunset Sands due 1/24

Not a whole lot of change today with Kelly. Her bag is very full though, so just waiting for her last minute signs.

I did have someone remind me yesterday that she foaled a week early last year. By the way she looks, I'm thinking she may not hold out until her due date this time around either.

You'll notice we had to do a little work on the stall today... We lost part of the view, but hopefully she'll stay where we can see her. We had to put a "roof" over the water tank. There are so many birds in the barn and they sit on the rafters above the water tank and poo in there all day, so we put a cover over the tank. Hopefully that'll catch anything the birds are dropping!

Rosebud due 1/25 @ Stormy Acres
Sorry I forgot to turn on the cam, I was printing out pictures for my son and totally forgot!

Rosebud's bag is still increasing, I would say about 75% full so she is coming right along. Since she is a maiden I may go ahead and put the alert on her tomorrow. And you know what that means? She will go until Febuary 1st, setting that alarm off all during the night and me not getting any sleep!

And I never did figure out why I lost internet last night/ early this morning, checked radar and there was no storms in either my area or where the tower is located.

CODE 3 QH's ***Zoe*** due 2/16/11
Please call if you see any signs of distress or labor. We welcome and thank you for your calls, no call is insignificant. We would rather be woken a thousand times than have something tragic happen.

We are located in Southern California and are on Pacific Standard Time.

First up for Code 3 Quarter Horses this year is a very special pregnancy. For those of you that have watched our mares (a huge thank you to you) you have watched Zoe before...

Her 3 year old Logan was born on camera, famously called a filly by my Mom only to magically become a colt the next morning!

Her 2 year old Cooper was born almost on his own, as Zoe decided to “Stop. Drop. And Foal!”

Zoe is currently carrying an embryo transfer from our beloved mare Allie (Guns Stormy Lady) who we unfortunately lost this past October. Although we are all still heartbroken over the loss of Allie we are hopeful for the future and eagerly anticipate this foal.

This foal will be a full sibling to the foal Allie delivered on marestare in 2008, Kallie.
The sire is One Hot Krymsun.

Zoe will be 340 days gestation on February 16th 2011, what we consider her due date.
She has carried anywhere from 333-364 days. Her “normal” is in the 337-345 range.
Zoe has carried 5 previous foals and is an old pro. She is extremely quiet in labor and a very sneaky mare.

Zoe is a 12 yr old red roan quarter horse. She had a phenomenal show career as a young horse. Sadly she fractured her coffin bone early in her 5 year old year. It took 2 years to diagnose! Once we knew it wasn't something genetic we decided to breed her. She's is sound and very happy making babies.

She will need close eyes, as she tends to just lay down and push them out!
In years past Zoe has foaled the day she waxes.
I will attempt to update regularly.

Thank you for your eyes on our girls! Happy foaling!

And lastly I hate to have to say this, but based on our experiences last year I would like to make a disclaimer right from the start. These mares are family. We do everything in our power to keep them happy and healthy. We let them begin labor on their own, but we do assist at the first sign of trouble. We are very hands on with our babies. We give oxygen immediately after birth regardless of how delivery went. Please do not be alarmed.

If you have a problem with what we do, please contact me privately or simply dont watch.

We are incredibly thankful for everyone that does watch and keep our mares safe. We really couldn't do it with out you!
Mare starers have caught 2 of our last 5 foals, and quite possibly saved their lives. So thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=code3

CODE 3 QH's ***Genni*** Due 5/3/11
Many of you saw Genni foal last year. She foaled in the middle of the day, standing up, with a very stuck foal.
Thankfully everything worked out fine and we now have a happy healthy yearling (Grace)... but it still makes me nervous... therefore we would love some extra eyes when Genni gets close... she is still a ways off of her "due date".

Genni and Zoe (Cam 1) look almost like twins so make sure you know if you are watching Cam 1 or Cam 2
The girls are currently not getting along so well, and they share a common wall and windows open to each other.
You might see some kicking and charging going on. We hope they settle in some as they get closer to foaling, until then, enjoy the land shark impression show they give almost on the hour!
