Ik heb het vrij druk gemaakt, zie ook allemal nieuwe voo mij onbekende merries op het forum.
Maa rzie hierboven, een nieuwe updatelist.

Ik zal het weer netjes bijhouden voor jullie.
Alleen van vrijdag de 20e tot zaterdag de 28e niet, dan zit ik een weekje in de sneeuw

Het veulen dat vanmiddag geboren is bij Fishhawk farms was niet in orde, hij had al een klysma gehad omdat hij bleef rollen, de cam doet het ook niet meer:
Marianne has cut the cam. Baby is still distressed and a vet has been summoned. Will keep you posted as I learn more

Ik dacht ook al dat het niet helemaal in orde was, zag het veulen veel liggen en en dan ook vreemd liggen zeg maar.

Elements Arabians heeft dus ook weer een merrie om in de gaten te houden, leuk! Hoop dat de cam net zo goed is als van Amber.
Wat is er speciaal aan Sjoukje fan Bommelstyn @ Rein Dancer Farms ? Ik lees dat ze de merrie zullen melken en de melk weggooien en dat het veulen een melkvervanger krijgt? Heeft de merrie een ziekte die ze doorgeeft via haar melk?

@ JG: bij een klysma worden de darmen gespoeld. Misschien heeft het veulen last van een verstopping en wil de darmpek (de eerste poep van een veulen) niet komen. Daar kunnen veulens veel buikpijn van krijgen (en dus gaan rollen) en het kan zelfs gevaarlijk zijn.

Wat jammer dat het met dat veulen slecht gaat, na de geboorte zag het er zo goed uit, actief veulen wat snel probeerde te gaan staan!

Het is nu wel rustig met de merries he?

Heb nog niets druks/anders gezien bij 'mijn' merries.

Ebony Gold Iris aka Iris will be coming home on Sunday Afternoon Feb. 15th, 2009 and will be on stall rest recovering from her colic surgery... she will be in for about 3 1/2 weeks. She will need monitoring..so if you have a moment when on line please check in on her. If you see her, drinking, eating, peeing or pooping please note time for me. We will be putting up water buckets so we can monitor how much she is drinking.

Zoe @ Sonrisa - Colic Risk Cam 7
If anyone out there is watching Zoe, I need some extra eyes on her tonight. She has not pooped since she foaled and has spent a lot of time laying down. If she is showing signs of colic, laying down and not letting the foal nurse, or if she poops can someone PLEASE call Cindi at 505-991-3366 I would truely appreciate it. Cindi doesn't have a computer and I'm traveling so we can't see the cams. Cindi lives 20 minutes from the farm and needs some sleep, she's been awake with me for many hours.

I'm on my iPhone and it's difficult to type so if someone would be so kind and post her in the special watch section until tomorrow morning, I'd truly appreciate it!!

Laatste Update:
Thank you everyone who has kept their eyes on Zoe, I can't tell you how helpful this has been. I'll write a longer post when I have a keyboard. I just wanted you all to know it seems like Zoe has finally come through all this. If anyone sees anything concerning, please call Cindi. I will me home tomorrow late afternoon. I think the worst is finally past!

Bella @ Painted Crazy Ranch - Miniature Mare attacked by dogs
Tayna at Painted Crazy has taken in her friend's miniature mare, Bella, who was just brutally attacked by Rottweillers. She is torn up very badly and they're not sure at this point if she'll be okay. The cam is on dialup..so if it freezes that's why. Tayna is exhausted and has asked for extra eyes - she needs to sleep for a bit.

Please contact her if there are any signs of distress. She is still bleeding some so if you see that don't be alarmed unless it looks severe. Tayna asked that you contact her if you see her down and rolling or if there are issues with her blankets, etc.

I'm sure she'll be on to post updates as soon as she gets some rest.

Laatste Update:
I heard from Tayna last night and I apologize for not posting, ..the news was pretty much the same - everyone is improving. Bella keeps breaking out with another area on her body that has an infection - abcesses that weren't there before. Tayna said Bella's head has even more bandages on it as there was another area there...and the leg infection has broken through the other side, so she has a hole through her leg. Yes, graffic, but we want everyone to be aware that while Bella is recovering, she still has a long road ahead of her.

In addition...Tayna was on the way to the doctor/hospital with her son to get stitches in his leg. Poor Tayna can't get a break...she's spending so much time doctoring everyone and everything else that it's no wonder she's not feeling well. I hope you get some rest today Tayna... and thank you for keeping us updated.

Sunny Pines Special watch for Tommy and Patrasha - HIGH RISK
Tommy is in the bottom left cam and Patrasha is to her right. Both are high risk. Tommy has just recovered from Colic and is still in danger of recurrence. Patrasha had a very bad foaling last year, foundered and was almost lost. She has started to show some discomfort.

Please help us keep an eye on these ladies, and post what you see here. Remember NO chatter...but feel free to post your observances that you feel will be beneficial to the owners or the mods.

If you have any questions about any of them - if you think they are in distress - please call the numbers on the cam. Any rolling from Tommy is not good.

My first up is an 11 year old mare Sjoukje fan Bommelstyn who is due on February 25th. Although we feel she could go anytime. She has tested positive for NI and we need all help watching her. If anyone should happen to see her lay down please call or alert us. Being NI will mean that her foal will need to be muzzled so that she doesn't nurse for 48-72 hours. We will be milking the mare and bottle feeding the foal.

Equine neonatal isoerythrolysis (NI) is a condition of foals that are born healthy, but develop a possibly life-threatening hemolytic anemia within hours to a few days after the ingestion of their mare’s colostrum. This condition occurs as a result of a hypersensitivity reaction between the mare’s antibodies in the colostrum and inherited antigens from the sire that are present on the foal's red blood cells.

the foal can eventually nurse. The colostrum will have to be milked from the mare and the baby fed replacement colostrum and milk replacer. Different literature states it should be done for different lengths of time. The antibodies against the foal's blood type are in the colostrum which is full of antibodies. Antibodies to the foal's blood type destroy the foal's red blood cells. If not caught in time, the foal might not survive. And if not caught in time, it is a very expensive endeavor to try to save the foal.

Ik heb de lijst op pagina 1 ge-update en naar de mods gestuurd, konden er een aantal af en waren er weer een hoop bijgekomen, dus na de aanpassing moet hij weer redelijk kloppen

Goed nieuws van fishhawk en de cam doet het ook weer
I'm VERY HAPPY to report, our colt is going to be fine! He just has some meconium impaction and I didn't feel he was acting right so wanted to call the Vet in and have him examined. I didn't like the way the foal was acting and that is why I pulled the feed. Sorry about that.

"Slim" is a BIG sorrel colt with two hind white socks that are perfectly matched. He's a handsome colt! I wanted to give Sara and Slim some time alone since they've been handled alot since birth. I will snap some shots of him this evening and post them or have someone post them for me since I'm not sure I know how to post pics here.

@ Vue, bedankt voor de quote van de uitleg voor die merrie waarvan de melk weggehaald moet worden. Wat lastig! De immuunstoffen uit de melk van de merrie vallen dus de geërfde anti-genen van de hengst aan. Ik had nog nooit van zoiets gehoord, leer je toch weer bij hè?
