sassy staat er erg rustig bij.
zag dat die andere ook drachtig was, hoop det de veearts niet meer zo lang op zich laat wachten als het nodig is

Hier het verhaal van de eigenaresse:

I'm not sure where to start so forgive me if my thoughts seem scrambled.
I posted a special watch request for Sassy. I just want to make sure she is alright and in no pain and doesn't try to colic on us.
We had no idea that she would be delivering twins. She has no history of it and for that matter, the stallion has never sired twins.
It didn't take long to see something was not right, as in, it was not going to be a textbook delivery. When I reached into her for the first couple of times, I couldn't feel anything solid. I knew at this point I should be feeling hooves, but there was nothing. By the 3rd or 4th attempt, I could feel what felt like knees, and not very big ones at that which kinda threw me a bit. That's when I first feared it might be twins. Once I could get a hold of anything, I started trying to help her deliver and once it was almost coming out, I realized it was the hocks and the baby was backwards and pulled for all I'm worth in order to try to save the baby. Of coarse we also tried to revive the baby once the baby was out. I had to give up faster than I would've liked but I was afraid it was going to be a short matter of time and we would be having a second one. The baby never took a breath. The after birth was coming out and it looked to be about 3 times normal size. I reached around it to see if I could feel anything solid and could feel the head of the second. I thought we might have a chance with that one and we started trying to pull it out. I had to reach in to try to straighten the legs and managed to get them out. Once the top half of the baby was out, it wouldn't move anymore. I knew at this point it was too late for it too since the placenta had came out first. We did all in our power to save the babies but then it reached a point, the mare was the top concern. I knew this.
At this point I want to Thank whoever it was that called for trying to help me. I'm glad she called and I'm sorry I don't remember your name. I understood perfectly what you were saying, I do remember reading that somewhere but this also brings up another point. Until you experience something like this, the books don't help too much. You just kinda know what to expect, at least if you can recall the information. Seriously Thank You Once the Vet arrived, he used the chains after feeling and was able to get the second baby out. The Vet was surprised at the size of the babies. Both almost exactly the same size and he seems to think they may have been identical since they were both colts.
Now to explain about the Vet. First man in was my husband. Man with baseball cap was the Vet.
The first phone call to the vet, we reached the assistant and he misunderstood and thought she was colicing I guess from his end I could understand that. The Vet was in a surgery, then had an emergency come into his office. Somehow a dog broke it's jaw. I was thinking, OK, a dog. But then I have to understand that dog was probably someone's beloved pet. So after about 20 minutes and no word, I had them call again to speak directly to the Vet. He had to finish what he was doing and I understand that. When 30 minutes passed, they tried to call again and didn't get an answer. He showed up about 10 minutes after that. This vet's office is a 10 minute drive away and lives about another 5 minutes from there. Things happen beyond anyone's control and we can only do what is in our power.
ANOTHER TOPIC I want to say, I have read through all the posts and we are very grateful for our extended family out there in cyberspace. Yall mean more to me than you can ever know. It's like I explained to PamelaTX. Everyone else I know, would take the news and say sorry and then go about their day and probably not think twice about it. This will lay heavily on our minds and hearts and bless yall for all being there for us. Unless some posts were deleted, I DID NOT see any post to even begin to get offended about.
Even another topic I am sorry that the cam was shut off but that is my fault for not thinking to contact anyone previously to let them know to leave the cam on. As terrible as this has all been, any person, or any horse that may benefit from this experience today is the whole reason behind the cam staying on. As I had posted before in this thread, Anyone is welcome to call, anyone is welcome to video and post.
Which brings me to something else, did someone video this? I hope this doesn't sound morbid but I would like to see it. I just want to know in my heart that I didn't miss something. If someone did, they can pm me and we can make arrangements. I am going to pm Heather and see if there is a place on here for Educational purposes where it could be posted on here, if someone caught it on video.
I also want to Thank Pamela for being here with me (texting and talking tonight) and being able to update yall for me.

Tjonge wat een verhaal........wat zullen zij het allemaal zwaar hebben gehad vannacht. Zo gevochten voor niets.....Gelukkig heeft de merrie tot nu toe alles goed doorstaan. Het is toch wat dat als je DA 5 min. verderop woont dat het dan door omstandigheden 50 min. moet duren!
