Dit staat op het message board over Megan en veulen:
The foal is very small and tires easily. He has strong instinct to nurse and took a bottle real well. We are giving him a little serum IgG also. He fianlly fell asleep which we expected. We have heat lamps on him to decrease his stress from being cold. I will be in touch with the vet every hour or so and he will come at a moments notice. Right now I just want to give him and Megan a chance and not try to "help him to death"
She is more comfortable but her belly is still very hard and not like the jelly balloon they usually are after foaling. She talks softly to her little son and he nickers back at her. He is alert just wears out easily.
A prayer for his strength would be appreciated. A different vigil now begins as we try our very best to know what he needs to gain strength.
Freelands: Update on Joanie, the Gypsy Vanner mare.
Joanie's bag is full and tight and she is now testing five squares on her milk strip test. I am going to let her out in the paddock that joins her foaling stall during the day today. We will be able to see her from the house and will put her back in the stall if she starts showing signs that she might be in labor. We will put her in the stall late this evening and tonight.
If you should see her foaling and we are not with us, please give us a call at 870-862-4424.
We really appreciate you all helping us watch the mares.
Tonya foaled 05/16 about 4:30am! « Thread Started on Today at 10:28am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sneaky little girl foaled this am in the only corner you can't see on the cam!
I was actually up and looked on the computer screen. Didn't see her so got out the binoculars to check that corner. Saw her laying down looking towards her belly but couldn't see mych more because the mare in the next corral was blocking the view.
Made a cup of coffee and came back to the window. Thought I saw something pink hanging off her rear end but I don't trust my eyes so I had my husband look. Course he says there's nothing there. I didn't trust him and went down to check. Sure enough she had just foaled! Was up and eating within an hour. Everything looks good.
She gave us a beautiful black snowcap filly! I'll try to get pics posted on my website this am!
