Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Socks is still a very sick little boy. As Heather has said it was not the RH factor, he is Septic. He was standing and trying to nurse when we left home this morning for the hospital but his body temp had droped below normal. Socks is on IV fluids and getting a bag of plasma, after the plasma had been running for about a hour he started to move around and act like he wanted to nurse. Before we left the hospital at 7:30 we had got him to suckle from a bottle 4 times. Baby has been WONDERFUL today, she stood all day with her head on the cart nuzzling and talking to Socks. He was also talking for his mom and she was right there being her sweet little self. He did stand for about 5 min tonight and drank his bottle. He is a strong little guy. Gods will he will live and have a forever home here with us. I will be going back to the hospital in the morning, Heather will post update when she hears from me tomorrow. Please keep the prayers coming for our little guy.

Well there is Lucy.. pacing... doing circles.. and making us all DIZZY! No wax or dripping yet, but does not mean that she will either.

Eleanor should be good fo rthe night, but will keep switching and checking her to.

Lexie is fine for the night.

Come on Lucy.. get this over with... the lights are out for you!

Update Twinkie, twister, Ragdoll & B Cute:
Twinkie is fully bagged. I can't get any milk yet. I think her udder is packed with sand as I can't get any kind of liquid at all! (hehehe) Her rump is softening up nicely and she doesn't have much clamping power left in her tail. She could foal at any time... or not. She's a maiden mare so we're keeping a close eye on her in case these are all of the signs she's going to give us.

Twister isn't completely bagged up yet and the liquid from her udder is clear and barely sticky. Her rump is still pretty firm and she has about 1/2 the clamping power left in her tail that she normally does. I'm going to say that she has another week to go, at least. She's been sneaky in the past, so we're watching her, too.

Ragdoll is doing fine. Barely any udder yet and her rump is very firm. At least two weeks, I'm thinking.

B Cute is fine, too. She only has a saggy bag and looks to be a good 3 weeks away from foaling, at the earliest.

Thanks for hanging in there with us. We'll post more updates as soon as there is something new to report.

Update Tuff, veulentje van Brightside:
I have gone to the computer many times at home and work since last night and could not bring myself to type this post. Yesterday afternoon Brightside's foal just did not seem to have the spark he should have. He was tootling around the stall and visited with my 5 year old grandson but he did not seem right to me. He soon passed some dark urine and I called the vet for the third time and they came and took him and his mom to the clinic. Two hours later he died. His red blood cells were almost 100%gone. The tentative diagnosis is neonatal Isoerythrolysis (hemolytic anemia) caused by incompatible antigens in the dams colostrum. This is not a very common problem

It was a special breeding, he was a much awaited foal and we are totally heart broken. He won me over as soon as he was born. He had a very cocky attitude and was very very tiny. He didn't know he was small. My daughter suggested the name Tuff because of his attitude and I am a closet bull riding fan so he was named after Tuff Hedeman.

The vet left him with Brightside for a long time last night so she could accept his death and have time to grieve and then brought them both home today. He was buried beside "Alamos Distant Thunder" our beloved gelding that was Annsley's first show horse. Bright side is eating and is calm. She will get very special attention for some time and we are doing extensive tests to verify what happen and, if possible, prevent it from ever happening again.

I will post some sweet pictures of him later tonight.

WOW, SUSAN GOT READY AND SHE DECIDED NOT TO WAKE PAT AND PRISCILLA UP SO DIDN'T SET OFF THE HALTER MONITOR. BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO CALLED TO ALERT THEM. i COULDN'T GET THEM BY PHONE SO JUST HOPPED IN THE VAN AND WENT RACING OVER THERE.

SUSAN DELIVERED VERY SMOOTHLY AND PRODUCED A GORGEOUS MAHOGHANY RED PINTO FILLY WITH LONG WHITE STOCKINGS. THEIR STALLION, MOONEY, HAS AN OUTSTANDING RECORD OF PRODUCING FILLYS.

DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. FAST EASY DELIVERY, BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY FILLY AND STILL TIME TO GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP.

Update Shoshone:
There is no change in Shoshone. I think it is safe to say that the due date is incorrect. The one good thing is that Storm was the only stallion on the farm with her...so no doubt that he is the sire of this foal. She still does not have a bag and does not appear to be close to foaling. I will continue to keep her in at night and monitor her. Last year she did not have a bag until the foal was born...so she could still sneak up on me. She is definitely in foal. I had my vet do a blood test on her a couple of weeks ago to be sure and the test was positive. Since that time we have also seen the baby moving. I really don't have a clue as to when she will foal. It could be soon or it could be several weeks from now. We will keep checking her and will have her in at night. I'll let you know if I see any changes in her.

Update Careless:
Well looks like we are getting very close with Careless - she is on our cam now, was afraid to not change her and Daffy stalls so we could all watch being this close. By my figures she is at 339 days now and foaled last year at 344. Bag is really filling - seem to see a change in her today, very subdued and quiet. Careless has not let us get any fluid, she always gets very finiky at this stage and does not like to be touched.......so, will just keep waiting and watching.

Daffy and foal are doing great - he keeps his momma running - been letting out for excerise and sunshine. He doesn't listen to her very well and likes to try to talk to everyone else at the fences - Daffy is very protective of him so is on a constant run. He is so active - got so much to investigate & friends to meet.

Will update with more news & hopefully get an alert out on Careless this time.

Update Lilly, Katy & Jenny:
Surely to goodness Lilly will foal soon, she is just miserable! I'm really surprised that she hasn't already gone.

Katy is still a 5 and now within 45 seconds. I don't see any changes in Jenny today. Jenny's bag is bigger than Katy's but we still can't get enough to test her.

That's all for tonight! I'll be around all night and let you know of any changes I see.

All cams will be down tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern time.

I requested that all maintenance on the servers be done during daylight hours to minimize the chance of having a foaling while the cams are down. Being that we also have cams in the Netherlands, I felt that the morning would be the best time to handle this.

I apologize for the inconvenience and I hope that no one foals while the cams are off. This is a necessary maintenance to keep our cams running properly.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience in this matter.

Sneu van die veulentjes...krijg je toch weer het "brrrr-gevoel" van.
Helaas Susan gemist maar die is tenminste gezond.

Ben net op tijd voor de ochtendgymnastiek van Copper...misschien doe ik wel ff mee *en strek...vasthouden vasthouden ééén weer terug, nog een keer strek ...en vasthouden vasthouden éééén weer terug*
