Hazel is breathing a little harder than normal. Hoo hoo is bright red, but baby has not turned yet. She is definitely acting abnormal. She did clean up all her feed tonight though. She leaked some milk onto her leg while laying down. Her teats also have the appearence of after a foal has nursed on them(really stretched down & shiny). So we'll see what time brings us. I'll be checking her every couple hours through the night.
If she goes into labor I stand gaurd watching for a while on the other side of the stall where the camera doesn't show. I usually let them get the process started and I watch and wait awhile before I go in the stall. So if you don't see me at first, that's why. I'll probably turn on the lights across the aisle so I can see better w/o having to turn on all the barn lights. So when you see those lights come on, that means I'm in the barn.

o.K., Hubby & I are both at work today, will watch as much as possible, daughter Brittany will be leaving for school soon. Dutchess' camera will be a little dark until the sun comes up. She seemed to have a pretty quiet night from what I caught. She did lay down at least once, she hasn't done that in a awhile, hopefully she's resting up for the big event. Did a milk test this morning, no change in numbers, but the milk itself seems to be a bit thicker. Changed PH tests so I could get a more accurate reading. Last night she was 6.2, this morning, 6.0. Today will be her 4th day with low PH test results... Watching and waiting, that's what we do...

Ok, Nancy's temp is back up to 100.4 again, so normal range, no problem. What I think folks are seeing is her "braxton hicks" or false contractions. Mares and even pregnant womens bodies do this so they can prepare for the "big event". I am really beginning to believe the gal I got Nancy back from has NO CLUE when she was really bred!!!! Nancy seems to be showing the signs of a normal pregnancy that is around 335 days. I believe she has at least another week yet to go. She is showing signs my seasoned mares did last year when they were about a week to ten days out. So I wouldn't stress on her anymore. She will go when she is ready. I am just frustrated that those folks didn't do more research on breeding and foaling before having her bred! Anyhoot.... I will continue to take her temps, but other than that I am going to leave her be. Turn her out daily (weather permitting). I will post if something significant is happening.

As of this morning, Niki's bag is now even on both sides and the crease between the sides is about half gone. The milk is dropping into her nipples already as well. As a general rule, Niki has NOT had milk to express or wax before foaling except for last year. She is 330 days today!

just put the other horses out so Kiss is kind of bummed that she didn't get to go out too! And we have a new horse here that is a real baby in his pasture and if the filly next to him is not there he's busy running and carrying on. Of which he is now doing! So the agitation that she's doing right now is because of him. Maybe the aggitation will do her good! Her bag is REALLY full now. Can't believe that she doesn't have wax. I've decided that I'm going to schedule a vet for late this afternoon just to check her out. This waiting stuff is for the birds!

Flirt's bag has gotten MUCH bigger from this morning till tonight Her nipples are also pretty filled out. I don't really think that she is going to foal immediately, but she is to the point that she needs more eyes! She is a maiden though so who knows what she is planning She has not eaten much of her hay tonight so she is definitely becoming more uncomfortable. She is a big so not eating is not something that is normal for her! She did surprise me with the big change in just 12 hours. I'll update with any new changes.

Update From Freelands Minis and Gypsy Horses

Tara, the Gypsy mare currently on our cams, is dripping milk and has all the physical signs of a mare that is very close to foaling. This will be our first foal of the year and we are very anxious to have a new baby on the farm.
