Dar, I hope you dont mind me posting this, but I need some help!!
One of my broodmares (Fancy) is due to foal anytime, and with her condition right now I need to be there when she foals. She's down in town at a different barn, 20+ minutes away. On Feb 1st her left side of her face became paralized and because of all the trauma she's been through, she has not bagged up (she's 330 days today). We started her on some paste on Monday and it has helped, her bag is forming, but its not full yet. Vet says as soon as the paste is gone there's a good possibility it'll shrink back up. So we're worried about her not having enough milk for her foal. Plus she's so huge the vet thinks she could have another hard delivery... I had to pull her 2004 colt due to his size. (this will be her last foal).
I have another mare due anytime too, she's 332 days today, and she is here at my house, and on cam. If I'm in town watching Fancy I cannot watch Mouse as there is no computer there. I am looking for a few people who might want to rotate shifts or something, and help me keep an eye on Mouse at night while I'm gone. She is pretty close, due to her signs I half expected her to have foaled by now. But alas, she's holding out. Time to show her the plunger maybe?
I was hoping to have both mares here, but due to the weather I was only able to get one foaling stall up here. It is snowing today (as you can see on my cam) so its making things that much more difficult for me.
I am stressing big time over my little "situation"... if I'm down watching Fancy I'm constantly worrying about Mouse, and vice versa. So it'd be really great if I knew there were a few extra pairs of eyes watching Mouse from time to time. I hate asking, but I live alone and dont have anyone else to help out.
So here I am, asking for help. I'll even give everyone who helps watch her at night a photo of Mouse & her foal (once born of course) if it'll make it a little more worth it. It'll be an emailed photo, but large and high quality so you can print it out (I cant afford to send everyone 8x10's!! Check out the photos on my website though, and you'll see, the pic will be worth it!)
The link to my cam is in my siggy (first site listed) - its a pop up cam and refreshes every 20 seconds. Its being run off dial up though so it shows everyone's favorite red "x" from time to time. There is one corner she likes to hide in (is hiding as I'm typing this), but its in the outside part and she never lays down out there.
Like I said, I'll be 20+ minutes away (depends on weather, and how many cops are out lol) so if she goes down I'd love a phone call... that way if Fancy isnt doing anything I can head towards the house. Even if it turns out to be a false alarm (she's been laying flat a lot the last 24 hours - legs straight out like she's pushing, but shes not) at least I'll have been on my way.
I really appreciate it if anyone helps out - might help calm my nerves down a little! I'm not sure I have many nerves left - they are all shot!
With this weather today (been warm the last week, now its SNOWING!), I'm not sure if I should be expecting babies dropping right and left, or mares crossing their legs and holding them in (I have 4 due total, other 2 not due until first week of april). So needless to say I am a wreck! Probably why I'm rambling.
I'll check back in here often to see if anyone is willing to watch... I'm not sure if I'll be watching Fancy tonite or not, it all depends on how she looks when I go to bring her in this evening and feed her. I know she wont do her normal signs like she always does, do to all her stress she's under. Poor girl wants grain so bad, but she cant eat it due to her face problems. I feel horrible for her!
Thanks for reading ... sorry it turned into a book! Aimee / WPH
Did you try the link at the top of this page? http://wphcowgirl.proboards41.com/index.cgi The one on my main website doesn't work, and my software is messed up and I havent been able to update it. there's lots of crazy things going on with that website!
But the one on my BB should refresh every 20 seconds - but I have had a few people say it wasnt doing it for them.
Thanks for the well wishes for Fancy - I really hope she recovers fully. Vet doesnt seem very optomistic though. I guess at this point, time will tell. I have been trying to find someone who does actupuncture who is willing to travel out to do her, but no such luck.
That would be awesome if you could post when you are watching - I am usually here during daylight hours, leave between 4-6 to go feed the 3 mares I have in town, then I'm back for a few more hours. Then I either go to bed or head back to town to check Fancy.
