Ach,Rowan heeft een veulentje.
Hoe zou het met Belle zijn?Ze is in elk geval niet naar kliniek,dat lijkt me een goed teken.

Zo zo er zijn weer veel veulentjes geboren...zo te lezen is alles goed, gelukkig ook bij Nicky...
Inderdaad een low alert, maar ik vind de merrie nog erg rustig...maar wie weet Haha!

Now you will see our sweet old gal, Oreo, in the stall mothering Nicki's baby. Of course Oreo hasn't any real milk (her own last foal Claire is a year old) but with the foal nursing off her and some treatments I think we can fix that if we need to. Right now, we are still trying to get Nicki to pass the placenta and get comfortable enough to nurse the foal herself. Unfortunately, she is cramping very badly and I think associates the foal with the pain. We are hoping as the pain eases this will be remedied. She is in an adjacent stall. We continue to let the foal nurse by restraining Nicki but we do need to be careful as we don't want either us or the foal to get hurt. In between times, Oreo is brought in to "mother." If Oreo needs to, she can become the full time mom which is a job she always takes on joyfully. While it will take a few days to a week to transition to Oreo as the mom in the end ...one way or another we will get the job done. Oreo has been a surrogate mom before. She is the PERFECT mom and a true asset and treasure to our farm.

Oftewel, ze hebben Oreo bij 't veulen gezet. Oreo is een supermoeder, die in het verleden al eens een weesveulen heeft grootgebracht. Ze is dit jaar niet drachtig omdat ze in 't weiland een ernstig ongeluk heeft gehad, maar eventueel is ze met hormonen zo te behandelen dat ze goede melk gaat produceren voor 't veulen. Nicki accepteert het veulen nog steeds niet, heeft erg veel napijnen en moet voor de voerbeurten de praam nog steeds omkrijgen.

sorry for all the delay..here goes....she is ready he does not forsee any foaling issues at this time ...her milk is ready her bag is ready he would like her to be in a little darker light so thats why we changed that.we went over every scenario imaginable..he feels that she looks great does not understand why she has not foaled out yet because SHE IS IMINENT..did not see any blood in the urine or any in the mucous while he was here... on further inspection inside he said it was very lubricated and very clean and ready to go.she is definitely opening...good color good tone...he is glad that we ordered the seramune in advance,because as much as she is leaking its a good safeguard ..he thinks she will go 6 to 24 hrs...he also wanted a blanket on her for the night..i dunno if that will further stress her or not..she does not like them and tubby's blankets don't fit like they used to over her new girlish figure...so note to any one who blankets check to make sure you have one big enuff for your girl when she is as big as a house in foal...so i will monitor her and if i have to i will take it off...thats about it i hope there will be a filly foal in the stall by mornin.thanks for all the prayers and well wishes...i never did get that sleep i kept tryin to get today so i am draggin into the nite..i will post later....

Well we have more changes in both mares. Both were very active today cleaning the walls and just very uncomfortable. Midnight showed more wax this evening when we brushed out there tails and conditioned.

I just did a night check, both mares teats are shinny, there backends loose, swollen and very pushed out.

So if we are lucky by morning maybe one of them if not both will show us there new addition!!! If I see more changes later this evening I will post.

01/29/07 22:00 Bag is still nice and tight. Relaxed "back there". Will go check her and get another udder pic shortly.

Jet started to lay down, bent all of her knees and jumped back up. Kicked her belly and turned around. Kicked her belly again and acted like she was going to lay down but didn't. She is now standing very still.
