Update Kiss:
Afternoon update: Brought Kiss in from a day outside and her bag is deflated!! Doesn't look at this point that anything will happen tonite. (or maybe this week!) I'll let you know if anything changes when we check her later on. Just to let everyone know too that we are suppose to have high winds tonight so it's possible that our power will go off. That means no picture! Hopefully not!

Starlight Ranch Update!!!

Need help watching Missy!!! Tom is out like a rock and I am really sick!!! Fever, chills and cough. I wake up periodically to take a hot bath to warm my body up. But once I lay back down on the couch I am completely out as I'm out near the wood stove to keep me warm.

If Missy's tail goes straight up or out, a gosh of water and she lays down please call. You will more than likely see a water spot not in her normal spot on the upper right. Don't call if she is just agitated as she can do that for some time.

I DO NOT feel she will foal this morning but have not done a night check since around 10:00. We have a bad storm outside with heavy winds and more snow so really don't want to go out if I don't have too.

If she does go pick just one of you to contact us!!

honestly feel, and have learned over the years to trust these feelings, that she is pregnant from the cover that I believed (and the vet is wrong). This would put her at 323 days, and within the "safe" zone... I DO think she has a few days at least yet, but I also think her foal will be healthy once she decides that it is time!

will get one from Fran as soon as I can, but as of last night, she had checked to see if she milk, and it was the clear stuff before milk (like Lisa Lou)....I think its' a RACE!!!! Either way, watched her a bit last night and she had some interesting restless moments.

Thanks for all your eyes last. I got some sleep......she also seemed to have a very quiet night. Will post any changes!

Mocha due ?

Sometimes I forget about her out there, lol. I appreciate all the eyes because she will eventually have this baby Lachen

I promise there won't be another 6 month waiting game on another baby from Lay Z Acres. I know when I bred my own mares so I should be back to being close on the date like life before Mocha.

As for anything new with Mocha....not really....still walking like a peg leg, some milk, and starting to lay down again and shake her back leg, LOL.

Kiss 27/1

Well, we don't have any wax yet but Kiss has been acting different. She's been very restless (for her) all morning. Her tail has been coming up too and her poop is getting looser. Hopefully good signs that she might do something soon. I'll be keeping her in for longer today to make sure she's not going to be doing more. (Besides the weather here is yucky!) I'll keep everyone posted. Keep your fingers crossed! Tonite around 6 would be just fine with me!

Well, swaas, I told her, and she said the same thing she always says when I ask her when she will show me the babies. SHE SAID NOTHING!!!!!

But, she is uncomfortable, and I took Cindi and Wendy out of her pen to give her some peace. I thought maybe she might be stressed and no kidding because she didn't want to kid with them in there. So far no progress, but we shall see.

It's 9:00 pm here, so you have a chance!

The satellite connection is still not working. If you still need to be convinced that it is the worst choice for internet, send me an email. I'll tell you even more horror stories...

Nancy 14/2 (Nieuwe cam--> een grote belg Haha!

We have Nancy's cam back up. She had a quiet night (glad SHE did..lol..I have bags under MY eyes..!) We fixed her wiring first thing as soon as it was light out. We got power restored to the barn so she is online again. I am tired and a bit loopy. Have my cell phone on, so I am takinga morning nap. My friend Jenn is here at thehouse staying with me, so she will keep the "day watch" today. Will do a milk test this morning and one again tonight.

Wow - my cams really are clear.

Nightly updates (okay afternoon updates).

With the terrible weather rolling through everywhere we felt it was best to get the girls in and settled before it gets worse. Now it will likely pass over, which is just fine with me, but we have everything done and secure for the night and we're praying that the storms pass us by. Rain is fine, storms are not. I used to love the storms, and then I got horses.

Wishy Washy.....bag still full and tight. I thought for sure she was going to do something last night. Whe was all over the stall, up, down, push this wall, push that wall....poor thing. We have to keep reminding her that we didn't breed her - she did that herself.....we were going to wait until this year, but she and Dream had other plans.... By the way, she loves her sign - went over and nuzzled it. I fully expect her to eat the letters before she foals......that's just like her.

Nina Bobina....bag is big big big...but not giving us any fluid. She is shaved and braided and we're ready even if she isn't. The foal was just a dancing today when Shannon clipper her tummy. How wonderful!!! Nina seems to like her sign - she stood looking at it a long time, but seemed to be reading from right to left. Hmmm...maybe that's the way horses read...I have no clue.

Brandi....Brandi is the same, maybe some small changes in her bag, but nothing noticeable. And a heads up - Brandi does NOT like storms, so she may freak out a bit in the stall. And not sure if you noticed or not, but she makes the BIGGEST mess of all the horses...good grief. So, if the storms scare her, I'll be stipping her stall before morning. Brandi had to do a double take when she saw the sign upon entering her stall. She just wasn't quite sure. But then the last time we hung something in her stall she had a foal that night. I'm sure she's wondering.....

Shandy....well, just when we think that maybe she's not pregnant she surprises us with a few drops of sticky fluid. It's about time!!! She's due on Sunday. I'm not sure if she just decided to give it up or if the sign inspired her.....she didn't seem impressed, but she's not a very impressible horse.

Shanza is out for the night so Denny won't be stuck in the storms. We just felt that was the best choice.

And, obviously Unforgettable and the little guy, Denny, are in for your enjoyment. He is so curious - into everything and mom is tired.

Chelsea is still preggers, don't know why I lost the cam last night but the time I knew it had been off it was on again. I turn the cam off during the day unless I am going to be gone or if by some slim chance she looks like she is going to be foaling! I am sorry there hasn't been many updates, just nothing new to update. She isn't showing me any more signs of being close to foaling. I was told she is snealy but gee whiz, surely she will show some more signs! Plus I have two that are starting to look close, so I am working on getting two more cameras to put up in their stalls. It looks like may Mystic may have caught on her first breeding instead of the second. Gotta love these mares!

:hair:OK- well some big changes over the day and strange behavior...her bag is full, nipples mostly filled out....I went to get her from our outside pens (with the other mares/foals) and she was in teh stall alone, brought her out and she was breathing pretty good and damp on her chest...... she is meanwhile doing lots of tail lifting and belly looking.....so something is going on....she is day 319 today, so pretty close to the 'safe zone' if she does decide to speed things up.... extra eyes would be appreciated as I did not expect this....could just be the baby moving around....but she is pretty uncomfy! It's a race i think in Southern Idaho between Emma at Asche Farms and Lisa Lou!!!!

I couldn't stand it I had to go to barn and check on her in person and of course she looks perfectly calm and normal acting. I had seen her yawn 5 times in about 15 minutes when I was watching her and then she layed down, I did not see her yawn again after that so maybe she was just tired. I cleaned her stall again and yes she loves her back scratches with the manure pick she really loves the total body hard rub downs, her favorite is the knuckle in her ear for those deep ear scratches you can watch her eyes melt and she gets cocker spaniel eyes that sag and droop real low..LOL..

Thanks for the feedback Marybeth. Lace is a pretty relaxed and go with the flo type of mare. She only gets excited if another one of the mares doesn't move out of her way fast enough! Lace is the second from the top in our broodmare band in regards to pecking order. She has to throw her weight around a little when we turn her out in the morning to remind everyone what her position in the herd is. Soon we'll move Lace and Lucy to our smaller pasture during the day in front of our house so I can keep a closer eye on them. She's so funny to watch walking around now as her belly just sways from side to sideaas she moves along. I visualize that foal in there as if it's in a hammock.

just went out and tucked belle in for the nite..she is getting a little to relaxed back there and also turing a few shades of darker pink than she needs to be for right now..also her teats are getting shiny ..as stated earlier she lost 3 of the four plugs on teats..i am gonna go ahead and give vet a call tomorrow to come and check on things and hopefully we will have the test results back..i know he said that the baby gives off hormones and it can be used as a timetable for where she is at in terms of potential delivery..it will all show up in the bloodwork...so till tomorrow enjoy all the babies that may be tonite...goodnite

Today is the first day that Jess' milk registered on the chemetrics scale. She is all the way on the far end meaning nowhere near ready, but I guess she is closer to ready than she was. I have never used this kit before so I don't know how quickly they progress up the scale once they start registering, but it has to be a step in the right direction. Stay tuned!

Magic is still progressing like she should.. I believe she will hold out to at least her due date (famous last words ).. She is sleeping flat out more often now and she occasionaly will show extra discomfort. I appreciate all the eyes, she has foaled around 4:00pm in the past..

now is watch her . She has been pacing a lot and is very irritated when I try to mess with her.

Luvs is very miserable and her bag is also full and ready for a baby. Her milk test is starting to change colors, but she seems to be going very slow. Which is okay since she is not due until the 15th.

Uptown Girl 20/1

Well folks as i sit here and think about how much this mare has progressed she must be on the verge. Uptown Girl has had her tail up all day and refuses to put it down. She stayed in most of the day and didnt seem to phase her at all (she usually frets when left in alone). Shes not in her normal left hand back corner which has got me thinking she may lay down and spit it out soon. We also are going through some weather the snow melted last night and we are having thunder storms at the moment. Needless to say with the pressure changing and such she is getting very close. Still doesnt have a full tight bag but is very close to that point I cant get much out of the bag and its not that sticky yet so.... We wait. amy has been doing the fleeman lip thing that is a new thing for her. She did it yesterday in protest to no food right off the bat and today after peeing. This is new to us because amy has never done that before. I think its a new sighn. Amy is starting to get a little more swollen in her bag area. I hope its soon and lets hope this fleeman thing isnt in protest to being inside when the others are outside.

Since she is so over due, it just makes me feel better if he would make sure baby is positioned right... especially after the incident with over due Scottie (he came just in time, thank the good Lord). She definitely seems uncomfortable, so we will see what he says. One time he checked Missy, and all he said was, "Well, she is pregnant." LOL. "Uh, yes, I knew that..." He is so funny. Every time he sonograms Missy he says, "Hey look, the baby is black and white!" hehehe. We may take Lady out of the stall, so don't panic or anything. If I put her back outside, I will try to wave to you our something. Don't worry, I will update you some how!

Up & down a lot of times, some good belly kicks and slowing down on her hay. Also napping pretty good at night, which will give false alarm with the foal alarm but she isn't using it as a roomservice bell. Not yet... Don't tell Dynamic about that Macy....
