She is out in the back paddock today with the other mares and Blitz. Nothing new to report this morning, other than she did leak again overnight and has sticky teats again this moring. She will be in early today as we are going to my parents house for the superbowl at 4:30. If there is any change this afternoon I will post before we go, if not, I will post an update this evening when we get back home and I check her again.

Yes, SUPER FILLY is a great description of her. I dont see her lay down and sleep all that much, or for very long...and she was just up trying to figure out running around!
Addi is still very swollen in the back end and so she is definately not quite up to par yet. Udder LOOKS sore to me, and being a maiden, she just really doesnt get it just yet I dont think. I am very thankful she took to being a mom really quickly. She has given her some ugly looks and will turn her head and pin her ears at her and lift her leg, but looks to be mostly threats. The filly is kinda mean to her udder sometimes!
She is a little buggar for sure. She has one eye that her eye lashes are getting in her eye, so I am going to have to keep going in and holding her down to get them out or she will get an ulcer in her eye, which would eventually cause a white spot in the eye. I have had a few with the eyelash thing. This isnt an eyelid that is turned in thank goodness, those are really no fun.
SUPER FILLY is strong and doesnt want me to mess with her much, but that is good, cause last night she was following me around too much and a few times when I went in and out would nicker like she was looking for me.
It was very funny, this filly came out screaming! As soon as she was out and sternal, she let out the cutest whinny. YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD THE BARN LIGHT UP!!! EVERYONE in the barn and even outside all hollered back! They all knew there was a new little one and there were noses trying to poke in and see everywhere Addi doesnt seem too concerned about her nosey neighbors, but I have a few that really DO NOT like to be looked at and are "baby proud" one being Sassy who is due to foal in April...she gets a bit excitable and will charge the wall...
Anyway, I am overall very happy with Addi and getting into the first time mom thing.
I will change the cam back to switching probably later today to start watching Fish again. She has a little more udder and is "due" in a couple days, but again, there could be a 2 week difference on there. At the rate she is going, I am going to venture a guess at the end of the month or mid march...UNLESS she makes real big changes real fast. There is definately a baby in there, it loves to play football in there, and I am going to guess colt on that one

Jess at McDowell Racing Stables due 2-21
Jess is starting to get a little bag today, day 325. She has been stranded inside since Friday afternoon due to the many feet of snow we got so I put her in the indoor to stretch her legs a bit. She was having a blast bucking and farting but then lost her balance, slid about 8 feet and did a face plant. That was enough for me! She appeared to be fine and didn't want to be caught to go back in but eventually gave in and let me catch her.

Polly due 1/30 @ Little Creek Side Farm Miniature Donkeys
This could be it. No white milk but her teats have been very firm since last night. She is having very heavy diarrhea like she does just before labor. Polly has always produced white milk first but this is the first winter baby so it could be different.

I havent named this little filly yet. I have been so busy with getting caught up since Addi teased me so long. Trying to find that perfect name for her, so if any of you think of something, do send suggestions!!
I would love to get "Gun" or "Gunner" in the name...course, she is a girl so that may not be possible.
Sire's name is Bandido's Run & Gun
Addis name is LMJ Addicted to Love
I dont HAVE to use either name in there, that is not a must. I kinda like to, but it is not a must do. I like the name Jump the Gun, but I think that is more of a boy name....Gunner already has a boy named Son of a Gun (another boy name).
Anyway, any suggestions would be perfect. I think it has to be 30 characters or under and I will put the farm name, Comferts in front.
I will try and get some new pics of Super Filly soon! She is a strong willed thing! Supposed to be getting more snow and stuff....ah, how I am tired of it. It makes SUCH a mess when it melts!

Pinky (3-29) & Sugar (4-1) Maiden @ Westernstable NL
UPDATES ON PINKY & SUGAR
Pinky doesn't finish her regular food and this happened last year too but much later in her pregnancy. Her belly is jumping like a skippybal so the foal is very active, maybe this is the reason for her not eating well. Pinky eats her hay very well, so I am not worried. You can easily see the movements of the foal on the cam too!!
I will keep my eyes on her to see if the foal keeps jumping up and down...
Last year Pinkys udder started to bag up at day 300 and that means it has to start at February 22 this year!
Sugar is doing well and her belly is growing well too! I have seen some movement in her belly but not as much as Pinky's foal! Since Sugar is a maiden her bag can start very early or much later, I check her only once every morning but don't aspect to start before she is at least 290 days and that will be February 16th!
It will be very exciting to which of them will go faster than the other!
We checked the camera in Sugars stall but the camera is fine, so the problem is either in the wiring or I don't know??
I will try some options today to see if we can get it better.
It is very cold again here after a few nice days and it will stay this cold the whole week.
I feel sorry for the poor people in the US where it has been snowing so much!! I hope none of you is in that area! I believe it was Washington State Area.

Ok - all rebooted. Sorry - it was lagging, so had to restart it. Ditto is about the same tonight - though she does have a slightly different shape to her teats. Once again, the milk is more in the teats tonight. She changes constantly, so just telling it like it is. I've never had a mare show so many signs and then they all just back off. She is a little loose under the tail, but not as loose as she has been. She is aggitated tonight. After I cleaned her stall and checked everyone else, I came back and she backed her ears at me for a second, which she never does, but then she changed her mind real quick and wanted a scratch.
I brought Hannah in tonight and checked her over real well. Well, she is starting a nice bag going and already has a nice jello butt going on! She isn't due til March 18th, but her heat cycle ran very long, so she could be due a few days sooner. I'm going to swap her and Cat around tomorrow and get her in Cat's stall so we can start watching her at night too. She will come in for now on. I will try to get a third cam up and running again too, so once all these babies are here - we can watch all three stalls. I will start a separate thread for Hannah tomorrow, once I get her in the stall.
Ditto will be in her stall all day tomorrow as it is raining once again and suppose to all day tomorrow. Y'all have a nice night. Thanks again for the extra eyes.

Morning update. Ok - she is extremely full in her bag now and has sticky teats again. She will be in all day today on cam as it is pouring. Our electricity went out for a bit last night, so lets hope it stays on all day today as I'm going to work. If it does go out, I will have my neighbor come over and check on her a few times til I get home. My husband does come home earlier today, around 4pm.

Next up is Vanna, a palomino AQHA mare. We do not own her, but the foal will be ours. Vanna will be our problem child for this year!! Here's her story:
Last year she had a buckskin colt by our stallion, Klassy Celebri Te, same one she's bred to for this year. The owners found the foal one morning in the stall during morning chores, so the birth was unattended. Vanna rejected the foal and never did voluntarily nurse it. The owners collected colostrom, fed the foal, assisted it nursing for a couple days, but she was absolutely not interested in taking the foal on her own. After 3 or 4 days of no success, the foal either got sick or injured (details are sketchy), and was euthanized. Apparently she was very aggressive towards the foal, they sedated her, twitched her, everything they could think of to get her to stand, but nothing worked.
Vanna has been with us since October, so we've gotten a pretty good feel for her personality, habits, etc. She is a DRAMA QUEEN! She seems to have little tolerance for things that annoy her and from what we've seen, hates little horses of any kind. Her display last week with Suzy's foal was not too impressive. Even after seval days, she still pins her ears and sometimes charges at the filly next door.
Everyone says that mares who reject their first foal will take their second. We're sure hoping this is the case, but watching her with the other foals around, I have a sinking feeling she's not going to want anything to do with it. She tolerates her bag being touched, I can actually squeeze and pull... sometimes. She's moody, so sometimes it's ok, other times she gets cranky.
And best of all, her owners said she showed no signs last year, no wax or anything, so it's anybody's guess. As of today, she has a small bag, but it's tight and firm. Her milk has not come into her teats at all yet, they're still tiny and her butt isn't overly soft yet, so I think we've got a while yet, but she's now under the camera to start watching.
She's a very active mare and has a high energy level. She gets cabin fever easily if left locked in too long, so we'll try to keep the door open as much as we can until she's close. She seems to react easily at every twitch of the foal. This morning she actually laid down and dropped & rolled right in front of us during breakfast. We thought she was colicky, but it must have been a baby kick. Again.... DRAMA QUEEN.
I'll update frequently as we get closer, as we definitely do not want her to foal unattended. Thanks for watching!

Leena - Maiden @ Fox Hollow Welsh Ponies Unknown Due Date
Well, Leena has gobs of wax this morning and is still pretty uncomfortable. We're getting another big snow storm tomorrow so I'm thinking that she might even wait until then to show us her baby. Hopefully, it will come tonight. . . .
Sad news - my mare, Big Momma, who has been at New Bolten for the last week trying to recover from colic took a turn for the worse this morn and had to be euthanized. I'm so sad. She was an amazing horse. Hopefully, the foal will come and take all of our minds off of losing her.

Nog steeds geen veranderingen
The vet called this morning and asked why I hadn't called to tell him about Scarlett's baby. I told him that I would have called IF we had a baby. He says that he is really surprised she hasn't foaled yet...but is very pleased that she has held on.
Things are just about the same with Scarlett. Milk strip test at the max (5 squares) and PH at 6.3. She has seemed relaxed today even though she only went out for a couple of walks since we have had rain and drizzle all day long. She has made it to day 318 and I feel very confident that her baby will be fine whenever she and the baby decide the time is right.
Jordan is not showing any signs that she is close. Her bag is filling but has quite a way to go to be full. Maybe she has decided that she wants to wait for all the limelight.

The girls are doing okay, Pinky is eating better so she just had a bad day yesterday. Her little bundle of joy is very active inside, so I can imagine it is uncomfy for her!
No udders starting to bag, yet!
I ordered an amplifier and a ground loop stabilizer so when they arrive we are gonna attache these to Sugars camera and than the view must be a lot better, hope it will work!!

Hannah (due 3/18) @ J Bar S Ranch...
Really don't know what is going on with Hannah tonight. When I brought her in the barn last night - she was not fully bagged, but just checked her and now she really full! She is super sloppy under her tail too and very uncomfortable. I just went back thru all my breed dates and the earliest she would be due would be March 8th, that is when she would be 340. Per the earliest due date possible - today she would be 312 days. Let's hope she holds it in at least another 10 days or so. I did see movement, so I feel that maybe the foal is turning and starting to get into position and that is why she is so uncomfortable tonight. We will see. I do have a vet close by if she would foal and something wouldn't be right.

Precious/Mandy Mae Mose due 2/12 @ Unbridled Animal Rescue
So sorry for the late update...cam is coming back online...I typically use the laptop for work since i work at home...very unsafe...not to mention i was putting it out in the barn at night...we have a newer pc so i took everything off today and moved to the pc so that the laptop can STAY in the barn...LOL...i was having to drag it in first thing in the AM just to get going with work which also meant the cam went down with it...we are all set now and the laptop will be setup out there in about 20 min with cam...Sorry for not letting anyone know...it was sort of a last minute decision in an effort to keep Ms Mandy on cam all day...Thanks for everyone's patience and your concern is ABSOLUTELY appreciated...Thank you So Much!! Also an update...vet had to cancel today for an emergency but she will be out tomorrow at 2pm to check her bag. We DID finish the roof today 85%...the important thing...Ms Mandy is covered!!!!! Now my walkway and we will be all set...the boys said to give them one more day on Wednesday and the barn will be completely done!!!! I also did not have time to take pics today...we are JUST now getting around to feeding the 2nd round...normally done at 6 every day...poor guys! Thanks again and keep an eye out as cam will be up shortly...

This mare is difficult to foal out, so please be warned that we might cut the cams during the foaling or shortly after she foals so we can deal with Mable and tend to her foal. I want everyone to understand this upfront. Not that anything is wrong with her or the foal. We might have to do this to have a sane mind and work with them. Dolly is doin so much better! She doesnt have any discharge,which is great! Her bag has regressed some which is also good...we are not concerned at this time that she needs to go to injectables antis...she has perked back up to her bossy ol self!
We are waitin on a new dazzle for the cam,should be here this week. After we get it the cam should be up and runnin!!
We will put Sugar on cam once we believe she is closer...Shes just now startin to develop a bag and shed... She has had foals before(2 mules and a mini) and we were told she gives plenty of signs,so hopefully this time will be the same! lol
April and Megan are still about the same.....Megans bag is progressin but nothin to be excited about yet.....

De winterrust voor ijsberin Tania uit Diergaarde Blijdorp loopt ten einde. Op de webcambeelden was de afgelopen tijd te zien dat zij onrustiger werd en vaker uit haar slaap ontwaakte. Daaruit viel al af te leiden dat het moment naderbij kwam waarop zij de 'winteriglo' zou verlaten om haar voorjaars-honger te stillen. De verzorgers zijn begonnen met voer neerleggen, zodat er voedsel is als zij hieraan behoefte heeft. Zij gaan er nu van uit dat Tania niet zwanger is en dat de hoop op jonge ijsbeertjes dus is vervlogen...
IJsbeerjongen worden doorgaans in december of januari geboren. Diergaarde Blijdorp hield er rekening mee dat met het verstrijken van de tijd de kans op een ijsberenbevalling afnam. Ondanks alle paringen en een nieuw ijsberenverblijf is het dus toch niet gelukt om de ijsberen tot voortplanting te krijgen, tot teleurstelling van de Diergaarde en andere ijsberenliefhebbers. Ruim 800.000 keer is de afgelopen weken hoopvol gekeken naar de webcambeelden van een slapende ijsberin Tania via Internet.
Ook voor het Europese ijsberen-fokprogramma is dit jammer. Dit jaar heeft geen enkele Europese dierentuin succes geboekt met de fok van ijsbeertjes. Nakomelingen zijn dus zeer gewenst en ook noodzakelijk om de populatie ijsberen in dierentuinen in stand te houden, als ambassadeurs van hun bedreigde soortgenoten in het wild. Ijsberen worden ernstig bedreigd door o.a. de opwarming van de aarde waardoor de ijskappen smelten.
De oorzaak van het uitblijven van ijsbeerjongen in Blijdorp is niet bekend. Eric is een bewezen fokman, maar Tania is nooit eerder moeder geworden en al op leeftijd. In theorie is het dus mogelijk dat Tania moederloos zal blijven en op die manier niet zal kunnen bijdragen aan het instandhouden van de populatie. In overleg met de coördinator van het Europese fokprogramma wordt gekeken wat de beste strategie is voor Blijdorp om in de toekomst ijsbeer-nakomelingen te kunnen voortbrengen.
De succesvolle webcam blijft overigens in Blijdorp maar zal tezijnertijd worden verplaatst van het ijsberenhol naar een andere locatie in de tuin. Tania's 'sterdom' zit er dan voorlopig op, maar het is de bedoeling dat zij wordt opgevolgd door een nieuw en interessant dier. Hou hiervoor de Blijdorp-site in de gaten.
