Well, I'm back to work because the town where I teach at, has electricity! BUT, I still do not have power in my town or the surrounding area.
Nelly is pretty much the same except for more edema swelling in front of her bag and up into her front legs. And she does not like me touching her bag. A few days ago, she liked it and would allow me to scratch it for her. OH NO , not now!
She is still shedding like crazy and has a bizillion(is that a word?) bite and lick marks on her sides.
I'll update on Monday from school, unless for some miraculous reason, we get our power back on this weekend!

Praying for the electric workers to come our way.
It's now been 9 days w/o power!

Update Scarlett Freelands Gypsy Horses:

Hi Everyone,

Scarlett is now at day 315. We have made it through a few more important days in the foal's development. If would really be hard for a mare to seem more ready that Scarlett does right now. Her bag is very tight and her nipples are full. She is testing an immediate five squares on her milk strips and her PH is at 6.5. I can't say if she will hold out longer or not but I know that we will be keeping a close watch on her. We really appreciate all of you who are watching her with us. It is physically impossible for us to watch her 24/7 and it is such a good feeling to know that so many of you are helping us. Thank you.

I'll keep you updated. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

ok, we are bundled in tightly and watching it snow like crazy- much more snow than Kentucky needs!

2/5/10 Tootsie evening update:

Tootsie felt sort of crummy for most of today. Either she didn't like having to stand inside while rain/sleet/ice and now snow fell, or she just felt crummy. She took nearly all day to finish her breakfast and picked at her dinner.

I think all is well- she's just running out of growing room. Foal is active and huge.

Well, Heather (The Boss) and Rich(Heathers right hand) got the Flash working (it wasn't easy, but they know what to do!!!)
So, why is the cam still down??? Cause we are trying it out to see if my computer can handle the stress!!!
My computer is working like a mad man but all other programmes are getting really really ...slow, so it is not wise to leave it like this for 6 months. I need the computer for other things too and I guess the computer will get...
Since I am gone for most of this day I hope we can fix it back tonight when I am back.

So far the two girls are the same and you don't miss anything...
Jojo will be here to watch over my girls, so they are in goodhands.

Please help keep watch on Dakota @ Dusty Rose Miniatures.

Dian got this mare, already in foal, and she has usually gone 340+ days. Today she is day 326 and has been butt rubbing and pacing, and kicking her belly.

Any extra eyes are appreciated, Dakota has lost 3 of her foals, so this is a high risk situation. Hopefully having the camera on and extra eyes watching her will help to insure she has a happy healthy foal.

Ditto (1/19) *Getting the Plunger out!* @ J Bar S Ranch
Evening update. Sorry I'm late. We cleaned, brought them in and then ran out for a quick dinner down the road. Just got in. Well - she is long again under the tail and it is hot pink again. I give up on guessing that this is it! Yes - the foal is in position as she has hardly nothing on the sides and actually doesn't have that much underneath either. It is all up in the canal. She just needs to decide to push just a tad and I do believe it would come flying out!!! I watched her all day at work and she really didn't move around the paddock that much, unless Cat moved her. Cat is in a very strong heat right now and is just pacing and pacing as she wants in with my stud. We aren't breeding Cat back this year as I want to give her a year off and we want to go trail riding a lot this year and she is the horse Jr rides, so we are going to leave her open this year. Really hard decision when she puts such a nice foal on the ground though! Ok - back to Ditto. Your guess is as good as mine. I do have to go in to work tomorrow morning early for "mandatory" overtime! I have to get up around 5am as I have to be at work at 7am, so I will be crashing very soon. Jr is going to stay up for awhile and watch her - but any extra eyes tonight would be great. I can't stand when I have to go to work on a Saturday and so early! Thanks and now we wait some more!

Wellyesterday beckys milk tested 150 on Ca nd 8.5 or higher in pH so still a ways off, today she would not give up any milk to test, lol I dontthink shes going to go tonight...

hello, no we did not loose power, our internet provider lost its network! Aleena is pretty much the same, when I tested her milk yesterday it was pretty far off Ca was about 75 and pH was 8.5 or higher. So I really dont need to test it again til tomorrow. Her udder still looks a long ways off too

Fancy due...@ Giddy Up Mini Farms
Fancy's udders are huge and WARM tonight with very sticky amber/honey color fluid. I have been out in the barn for a few hours now with a colic acting horse and see Miss Fancy Pants doing a LOT of belling kicks, holding one or the other back leg up high, butt pressing hard on that door she is always hiding behind AND she is doing her over protective behavior towards me! She gets VERY aggressive when she has a baby and that is how she is acting tonight. Hopefully soon!!!

Bless her little heart, she is SOOO miserable! We had a nice little walk down the gravel road. Courtney took a little yearling colt and I took Addi. She did NOT want to go for a walk, I had to keep pulling on her to make her go. I thought after the walk a few bites of grass would excite her....NOPE, she put her head down took a bite or two and that was it, just wanted me to scratch her. The colt DUG IN to the grass. Poor Addi, she just needs to get this over with so she can feel better!
Still wax...she is still ready.......

Nou ik volg Addi met spanning,ik heb afgelopen nacht ook steeds naar haar gekeken,omdat ik mijn eigen merrie ook in de gaten houd.
Ik heb best met haar te doen,dat er maar een gauw een veulentje mag komen en dat moeder en kind in goede gezondheid zijn erna

I want to welcome everyone to my barn, I only have one mare in foal this year.

I would like to introduce to you my beloved Lady Pacific Lender "ShyAnn".

Ten years ago ShyAnn was attacked by a mountain Lion. Both the vets that came that night and told me to put her down, that she would never walk again. Well, I didn't listen.

Shy-Bye(as I affectionaly call her) has a love for life that is just amazing. Her very long road to recovery was a true lesson in the determination to live against all odds.
This mare, is the horse that changed my way of thinking. If ever you are down you fight, and you fight until you have conquered. ShyAnn is always willing to give you her very best no matter what the odds are against her. This is life lesson she has taught me to live by.

She's outside for now. I have them in the back pasture where I can see them, so sorry, not on cam right now. They will be back in around 5 or so. She is basically the same. I'm thinking she may have been having early labor or something and now has backed off. Now she is making me think she is due the later date that I originally had up instead of the January date. The 2nd possible due date for her was 2/28. She would be 320 days for that date on Monday. I just really don't know right now - she has me puzzled. She did have the wax last week and has everything else showing she is ready. It is so hard with maiden mares!!!
