Update Addi She is sure trying to fight it off isnt she!! Poor girl, just has no idea what is going on Thanks for the prayers for a safe foaling, I REALLY appreciate it!! STILL watching She had wax at last check, white wax
Triple K; nog niks maar baby-boom to come! HI TO ALL< Nice to see several of you great great minds, eyes, etc back and willing and waiting for foaling, We will begin watching mares about mid march, we have about 30 that will be foaling, or that are ultrasound in foal, yes last year we had 8 open ones, I guess this year, we have about that many mares that are not bred either due to age, and then some mares that SHOULD be bred and we dont feel they are , LIKE HEAVENLY ANGEL< aka Peanut as most of you know, haha, But the majority are huge in foal, we will be ultrasounding the 8 mares that we were not sure of, but the rest have been ultrasound to be in foal, and this year, will be a hard year, so wish us luck, Mike's dream is coming true, he has been attending collage to become a Paramedic, he has always wanted to and one of the colleges offered a course thru a nearby hospital thru telecom, he started in October and will be finishing in July, he has been studying up to 16 hours daily when not in class and has lots and lots of clinicals to do, but will try to do the clinicals later or during the days so will be around for foaling, but of course with needing sleep and studying, IT WILL MAINLY BE ME WATCHING, sooooo please this year of all years, we will appreciate all eyes that have a chance to glance at our cams, and yes, there will be times all 12 cams or even more will be on with the stalls full of fat, happy or grumpy pregnant mares LOL, We have thought of cutting down, but we feel we have such a select carefully acquired group of mares, that we just are having a very hard time deciding on any to sell, ha, take care everyone , and of course you know what you mean to us, Tami http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=triplek
Caroline (Possibly 2/14 per vet check) @ Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue We found out this morning that Caroline is no longer pregnant. I had grown suspicious because she was so far past the date our veterinarian originally gave us and didn’t seem to be getting any fatter once she got to a healthy weight. She was palpated Wednesday and our veterinarian thought she felt the foal but didn’t feel movement, so she recommended an ultrasound. This morning, the ultrasound confirmed that what she felt was not a foal but a sack of goo that was not properly dispelled from a prior pregnancy, perhaps very shortly before she came to us. Caroline will have a small procedure to cleanse her insides and then should be perfectly healthy and adoptable.
Though my rational side knows that the last thing our rescue organization needs now is another horse while so many are neglected as it is, I am very disappointed as we’d devoted 4 months to caring for her in anticipation of a foal. I am frustrated that it took this long to get a correct veterinary diagnosis of the situation, but we’ve learned more about the importance of questioning the diagnosis (and the value of ultrasounds) if we take in another mare who is supposedly pregnant.
Thank you all for your positive thoughts for Caroline. Now we need to turn our attention to having her tuned up to ride so that she will be adoptable and can begin her new life. We are going to move her to a friend's house for a few weeks of “down time” (they have a big open pasture - much bigger than her paddock here) and just let her run around on her big pasture, eat grass and get to be a normal horse. Then we will find a trainer willing to take her on as a project so that she can realize her full potential.
On a happier note, Nugget looks great and is happy as a clam in his new herd consisting of himself and my two miniature donkeys, Boris and Banjo. Hopefully he’ll be cleared for training soon as well. As soon as Caroline leaves us, we'll use the webcam for the next rescue animal in need, so stay tuned!
Thank you all for all of your love and support. I wish our "Caroline thread" wasn't ending this way. You can go to www.reddogfarm.com to stay up to date on her as she enters the adoption process.
Ditto (1/19) *Getting the Plunger out!* @ J Bar S Ranch Well she has actually backed off as of this morning. She isn't as long under the tail this morning and there is no stickiness on her teats this morning. I guess she decided she is waiting a few more days. I'm going to work today. They will be outside in the front paddock and I will have the cam on them there. My neighbor will be watching. If I need to leave work, I can. She is really puzzling me. She did all that change in a few days - shows she is totally ready and now, she has went in reverse! We are to go to the Fort Worth Stock Show tomorrow morning for the Quarter Horse Classes, so lets hope she either stays the way she is thru tomorrow or that she goes early tonight! http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=jbars
