YAAAAH, ONS VEULEN IS GEBOREN. ( na 12 maanden drachtig is geweest)
Ik was er zelfs bij! Alles is goed gegaan , binnen 5 minuten geboren vanaf dat ze ging liggen.
Ze is helemaal donker met een paar witte stippen op haar kont (appaloosa)
Vader is San remo..
Omdat ze helemaal donker is hadden we san negro, maar het is een merrie dus wordt het: San nygra

Wat sneu voor het veulen wat vanmorgen na een moeilijke bevalling geboren is, Ela wil hem nog steeds niet laten drinken, alleen als ze haar vast zetten in de stal....

Okay, our little guy is doing pretty good. Mom's milk finally came in (of course after I drove 2 hours round trip for Colostrum!!) But, he just does not want to latch on and Mom will only let him nurse if we tie her in the stall.. We went ahead and tube fed him with the colostrum around 5 and again around noon. He has also had seramune and foal response. They will let me know in a bit here if he is going to need a transfusion. Pls pray that Ela starts allowing him to nurse and that he gets the hang of it soon!! It may be another long night if they don't get it together!! I thought I had a breeding stock until I saw that little bit of chrome on his side!! Wooohooo!! The rocking was just him being tired and not really knowing how to lay down yet. I think with his crazy delivery he is just a little dazed still. He should be better after a nice, long nap. In fact, that sounds pretty good to me about now. More later.....

Thank you so much for the great video!! We had a rough day today. The foals IGG was under 400 so we had to give him a transfusion. He took two bags of plasma and seems to be doing better. He cannot figure out how to lay down!! So, he wears himself out by standing to long. I have had to go in several times to lay him down. Mom is starting to let him nurse and he finally got the hang of it. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring a better day. I have not slept since Sunday night so I am off to get some much needed Thanks again for all of your support, advice and prayers.

Heel triest bericht over Lexi, de merrie is gisteren overleden Verdrietig

Update

Many of you watched Lexi with us for months as she went well over a year overdue and then gave birth to the beautiful buckskin colt of my dreams. Extremely tragically, Lexi passed away a few nights ago from a yet unknown cause. We thought it was colic, but we had her autopsied and they said it was not a colic. In fact, they could not figure out what it was, so they are running more tests. We hope to find out shortly what the cause was so that we may prevent it from happening again, if it was something that was preventable at all.

I loved Lexi and this has been extremely, extremely hard on me. I just now have found the strength to be on the computer. I am now raising Milo, her orphan colt. He misses his mother but is also thriving in my care. He feels like a child to me now and if anything should happen to him, my heart will absolutely break. Please keep us in your thoughts.
