Update Snickers, Curly Sue, Brightside & Dinah:
Lots of watching going on here on the hill. blink.gif Snickers, our guest princess, is still holding out. She was hand bred and was due to foal February 21. She still has nooooo bag at all so I don't know what to expect. She is doing well and no rolling or acting like a positional problem. I may walk her around the farm this weekend like I did Megan. It worked on Megan and she foaled that night.

My little maidens are getting use to life under lights and in a stall. They like the brushing, and occasional food treats. I put a halter monitor on Sabrina because she has a little lemon size bag. No change in Curly Sue, Brightside or Dinah. They are all due the last week of the month.

I ordered my new receiver which will rotate camera views and you can watch all of them for periods of time automatically or I can set it on one that is close to foaling. I hope it will work well and give us more options.

Stay tuned as we watch!!!

Update May & Belle:

May is now in the main foaling stall. For those that dont know she is the momma of Grace (the mare who foaled the beautiful overo colt on Feb 19th) She is an AQHA halter point earner and this will be her first Bear foal. Last year she had a georgous buckskin filly by a foundation Buckskin stallion that our member Dawn from South Dakota purchased and still owns.

Belle of course is one of the KMK favorites. She is a young mare and this will be her 2nd foal. Her first foal died during birth because we missed her early foaling. We waited a full year before breeding her back and now she is almost due! Hard to believe that terrible nightmare morning was almost two years ago. Anyway, Some interesting info about Belle for those that are new.

We purchased Belle as a yearling, she was little and fuzzy and not conditioned at all. Long story short she now has her APHA open and youth SUperior in halter and is really close in Amateur. She has placed in the top 5 At the PtHA world show numerous times and was 2nd in the world as a two year old mare at that show. Last year. Last year Kassie (my 12 year old daughter) decided she wanted something to show so we drug this mare in out of the pasture and fit her up ..Kassie received her APHA youth halter ROM , numerous high point awards and 12 open halter points against big name trainers with big name horses...all with a 12 year old girl leading her. She also placed in the top 10 out of over 30 youth horses at the 2004 Pinto World SHow! This is truley a once in a lifetime horse. She is a special part of KMK. She was our first "real" show horse. This last fall we sent her to be broke to ride and she took it in stride. Going out to check cows after just a few weeks of riding. We didnt train her for anything special but she can now be ridden out on the trails if we want to...

Both mares bags actually look about the same. Belle is not due for a couple weeks but she foaled two weeks early with NO WARNING the first time. Not even a pacing or waxing or acting out of the ordinary. I checked her at 5:30 am and she was sleeping at at 7:30 I found what every horse person fears the most.

Anyway, we will watch her very close......
May on the other hand was psycho horse right before foaling, pacing around like a crazy horse, biting walls etc....lol...

Take care everyone... wont be long before we have another bear baby! I am excited about all of them but Belles is going to be the "one" this year that I am the most anxious about.

Update Megan:
Had to move Crue and the baby as much as I didn't want to. But Meg is due the 6th and while I don't THINK it will be tonight...I can't take that chance. Meg was kicking at her belly today and awfully restless. No wax though. But still...she is due in just four days and if there is one thing I learned...these gals can really fool you. I like to be prepared. Crue and her baby, Cameo, are doing so well the need to watch them was less than the need to watch Meg. Think we can get another leopard filly??? I hope so!

Update Twinkie & Twister:
Twinkie is doing great,..but I think she'll hold off awhile..
I think Twister will be the next one to go. That's the trouble with pasture breeding. You just have to guess at the due dates...unless you sit by the pasture day and night and catch the horses breeding. Bobbie doesn't do that... lol...so I'm left to go by what the mare's body is telling me. So...looks like Twister is next in line. Her backside is getting soft, she has no clamping power in her tail and her belly looks like it's dropping. She still doesn't have much of an udder. I'll be keeping a close eye on her. She could bag up after she foals...which is what she did year before last when she was a maiden.

Isn't this guessing game of mare foaling fun??? ROFLMAO!!

Update Dixie:
Well, Ms Dix had a really nice day outside today. She ran and grazed while showing no signs of discomfort.

I was able to get a good bit of fluid this evening to test. It's the right consistency but we still don't quite have a 5!!

We'll just continue watching her trusting that Dixie knows best.

Update Soxy:
Kwam dit tegen op een ander MB, zij zagen op de cam van Soxy een merrie in de stal met 2 veulens.

He lost Soxy today to a hemorage and after trying another mare this one took the new colt with open arms and love. Our sympathy to Scott.

Update Solano & Kay:
Solano well what can i say she just isn't real happy. You might see her down lots. Now last year she never waxed at all so i don't know if she will this year or not. And YES KAY is in foal remember she is a maiden mare and most don't show to much. But her bags says yep in foal and that foal has been kicking. If she does as her mom And Sierra(her sister) she might foal at 10 1/2 months. and that would be any time now. Solano has always foaled at 10 1/2 also. So we set and wait.

Update Eclips:
I'll be on duty watching for those bed bugs! Her udder has filled in & tensed up more since feed time. Teats have flattened out and I can express fluid- easily now. It's yellow & sticky. She's really cruising now. As sneaky as she is, I won't be sleeping much tonight! Soon would be better, Clips!

Ja, ze hebben het veulen bij een andere merrie ondergebracht die het hengstje heeft geaccepteerd. Als ik het goed begrijp heeft die merrie nu 2 veulens
