Hier nog een laatste update van Gabby en Hope....staat nog een leuke korte video van kleine Hope bij, ook al zo'n schatje!
Hope video...... « Thread started on: May 18th, 2005, 7:31pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a link at the bottom of the marestare pages to video and photos. I have placed two very short clips of Hope on there running. We got to take her out yesterday and today and she is a pistol. She still tires out easy, but she's only a week old and she's only allowed out once a day. She has a lot of muscle to build.
She's eating from a pan and is nibbling on foalac pellets. We're hoping to bring her home in a week if she continues to remain stable.
Gabby is back in isolation. She had one fecal culture come back "suspect" for solmonella, so they put her back in isolation. She's getting depressed from being their so long and Dr. Hart really wants us to take her home to finish her treatment. She feels that after a horse has been isolated for so long, they start to get depressed and give up. So, we're very anxious for these next two stool samples (one came in negative today) to come back negative. Then we'll bring her home on Friday - yeah!!!
She'll have to be isolated for 30 days (as will Hope) but she'll be in familiar surroundings with smells and noises that she knows!!!
Thank you so much for all your prayers. We'll continue to keep you updated.
Update Vlekje: Well, it seems like she is starting to get ready. Her flanks are somewhat hollow and she has dropped into a very distinct V shape. The milk factory is working; her bag is half full, but the teats are not yet filled and are still pointing ever so slightly inwards. Junior is not as active as the foal last year; maybe it means we have a filly cooking in the oven. I would love a filly this time, but anything healthy is fine with me. We removed the caslick's suture last week, and Vlekje is now on daily antibiotics. Let's hope we can prevent placentitis this time around. There is nothing I can do to prevent her from pooping up against the wall and then rubbing her butt in her mess, but I am diligently disinfecting the walls every day with nolvasan. Vlekje is so heavy now that she has trouble coordinating her rear legs. You can definitely say she is waddling like a duck! I'm taking her rectal temp twice a day now, as this parameter seemed to be the most indicative of an impending labor last year. Of course, I record many other things as well. Last year she foaled on day 336, but I don't think she'll last as long this year. She is now on day 318. Logged
Gelukkig goed nieuws over Gabby en Hope, heel mooi dat het ook wel eens goed afloopt, terwijl in 1e instantie de situatie zeer slecht is.
New update on Hope & Gabby......looking good « Thread started on: May 19th, 2005, 8:09pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well we just got an update from the doctor about Gabby and Hope. Gabby and Hope are both doing great. Every one is eating good and pooping lots. Gabby's second fecal culture came back suspect again. The doctor said that we can take her home and isolate her and then check her stool again in 2 weeks. Hope is running every where and wandering off now. When we were up there on Wednesday she weighed 24 pounds and now she weighs 25.5!!! She is starting to eat more from the pan but she still does not understand why she can't have the bottle. She will get it sooner or later. Dr. Hart told me that if their blood work stays the same and if everyone is doing good then BOTH GABBY AND HOPE will be coming home on Tuesday!!!!
We will continue to keep updating everyone with their progress and hopefully Gabby and Hope will be back Home soon.
