Tuff was een ruintje van een jaar of vijftien oud, een Quarter Horse.
Hij was niet van Dar van Strohbehn maar is daar heen gekomen omdat hij zo vreselijk ziek was en ze daar een oogje op hem konden houden.
Dar vertelde me vanmiddag al dat hij het niet zou halen, maar ik hoopte dat het toch nog goed zou komen.
Het heeft helaas niet zo mogen wezen.

Als ik het goed begrepen heb was het niet alleen koliek maar werkte zijn niet ook niet goed meer. Hij scheen ook niet meer te plassen en was zichzelf dus langzaam aan het vergiftigen.
Er was dus echt geen enkele hoop meer voor hem.

Goedemorgen!
Boven de cam van Eclips staat pray for Clips en foal'
IK heb op het mb gekeken,maar begreep er niet alles van.
Volgens mij heeft ze iig nog geen veulen,want die zie ik niet in de stal.

Bij Honey in de stal zit iemand opde grond erbij...?

Update Eclips:

If we're dealing with a fescue toxicity, there is an increased risk of low colostrum & milk production (most common effect) which results in a failure to pass immunity (bad for the foal). Other effects are prolonged gestation (ugh! this has been long enough) where the foal continues to grow, increasing the risk for successful foaling. Red bag delivery & increase for dystocias are also on the list. These already being things that are more commonly seen with the miniature mares. So I'm a bit nervous and will be on pins & needles until we have this one behind us.

I am going to get in contact with the vet Monday to ask about having our grass hay tested so we might be able to have a definitive answer to whether there are endophytes in our hay. If so, our hay supplier will want to know so he can warn other broodmare owners.

Volgens mij denkt ze dat er iets in hun gras/hooi heeft gezeten wat problemen kan veroorzaken bij (drachtige) paarden.

Update Honey:
Honey is pooping cowpies again. This is good. She has more wax this morning. This is also good. The baby is as down and back as it's going to get. That's VERY good. All systems are go. We just have to wait until Honey decides it's time for the big bang.

I will be out this afternoon. I will post an emergency cell phone number on the cam caption. I won't be more than 5 minutes away from the house...So please call if you see Honey acting suspiciously.

I'll update as necessary.

Update Brandi:
Today is Brandi's Due date for 320 days. She went 350 last year, so we'll see if she makes us wait another 30 days of if she's going to share that foal with us in a more timely manner.

Piper is catching up with her quickly. She's at 304 days today and we don't know how long she carried for her last pregnancy.

Well....after a very restless couple of nights Brandi has FINALLY tested 5 squares!!!! Yeah!!!! We tested her twice just to be sure. We're turning the cams back on, and we're moving Brandi to the barn area. She won't be locked in, but she'll be able to come into her stall when she chooses, so you may see her peek her head in.

Now, as excited as I want to be.....Brandi has gone from three squares to one to two to one to three...so we'll get really, really excited when we see five squares again or a foal!!!

Tested Brandi tonight and she's back down to 3 squares? This girl is just mystifying me. She's definitely looking ready physically, so maybe the milk strips are wrong.....? Goodness...guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Update Cruella & Bobbi:
Bobbi is still the same. That's a good thing. Let's hope we can buy a few more weeks. As far as Crue goes, Crue looked like she was close to foaling on Thursday, but now that Jillian's home she seems to be less so! I tell Jillian, she's waiting for you to go back to school now! Just so she can say "ha! ha! ha! YOU MISSED IT!" Anyway, we will still be watching her as maiden's can be quite unpredictable. Mandy, as you may recall, had no wax and not much of a bag but went early and the only real signs she gave was a "restlessness" about her. We are all anxious to see what's in that big spottie belly but so far I think we will have to most likely wait another night.

SNICKERS STILL HAS NO UDDER DEVELOPMENT. I DON'T THINK WE WILL BE USING TEST STRIPS. THE ONLY CHANGE WAS HER TEMPERATURE FROM 100.2 THE LAST THREE NIGHTS TO 99.8 TONIGHT. laugh.gif

HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE SOME CHANGE TOMORROW.

Update Butter & Fanny:
Butter...still on the gain. Noticeable bag increases again from 2 days ago.
Fanny is gaining but not as quickly.
Either could go next week. I dont expect any of mine to go much earlier than 330 days. And we are just getting close now.

I hope you are all having a great weekend. Thanks to so many of you for the birthday wishes, cards, and phone calls.

Goldie is just the same. I see no changes in her and her milk strip test has not changed. I know that it seems almost impossible but I think she gets a little larger each day. We will just have to wait until both she and the foal are ready...just wait and watch.

Update Honey:
I just spent a long time sitting with Honey. She's dripping milk pretty rapidly. She is very cuddly and wants to have her belly scratched all the time. She keeps looking at her sides a lot and has marks where she's been biting at herself. You may see her go to her feeder often during the night. I gave her some alfalfa pellets with her normal grain ration and she's eating them one at a time. :0) It's a real treat for her and I guess she wants to make them last as long as possible. I don't know if she will foal tonight. I did tell her that a lot of people are waiting to see this baby and that we're all missing sleep... her included. I timed her lay down moments...and that's all they are, moments. The longest was 3 minutes. She's very uncomfortable and is having trouble picking up her back legs when walking around the stall. She's got to have this baby soon so that she starts to feel better.

Ik krijg het trouwens koud bij het zien van de sneeuw bij jullie Marije! Hier sneeuwde het net ook, maar het begon meteen te regenen, dus de sneeuw is weer weg.
