Lysander NRA STB

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 02-09-05 07:12

Hi,

Need some help and hope that someone is able to...

Looking for pics and info on the stallion LYSANDER NRA STB.

From what I understand he's in the breeding association: NRPS.
When I enter their web I understand a bit, but can anyone please tell me more about the NRPS? I.e. is it similar to ZfDP or?

Thanks,
Lillemyr

Petra, thanks a lot for your help!

Do you know if he still is used in breeding?

I'm curious because I'm about to buy a son of Lysander and would like to know more about what Lysander passes on and how the other sons and daugthers have made it so far.

Lysander is not used for breeding anymore. Don't know the reason but I'll try to find out in my stallion books.

Mail with the info is coming up this evening. Had yesterday troubble with my mailserver.

Thanks again Petra!
That was a lot and it gave an indication of what the horse is capable of when it comes to performance. (Have already checked the mother).

Regarding identity checking. Are the NRPS-horses marked by burning? Or how do you check if they really are the horses on the IDs? (Besides DNA test).

By chip transponder nowadays. Burning is forbidden. Perhaps if you buy an older horse it is still burned.

So, does this mean that all NRPS horses (with registration papers/passports) are chip marked?

I'm curious because other societies still use burn marks.

The older horses have a brandmark on the rightside. It's two half circles with a windmill in the middle.

Now a days almost every sporthorse in holland has a chip in his neck. Some older horses have both. A brandmark and a chip. My oldest mare has a brandmark and has a chip. She was the first horse by the NRPS that was chipped.

Okay, so if the horse is from 2000 I should check for chip?
(I would like to buy the right horse )

That's right. Not every country has forbidden burning yet. In Germany they still burn as far as I know.

Lysander is no longer a stallion, he is a gelding now.

I don't know for sure but I suppose he was sold for the sport(showjumping I suppose). I've never heard anything about him since he was sold.
I know one of his first riders. He told me that Lysander was a horse that was fast angry with his rider. But it was a very good showjumper(I think 1.35m) and he did dressage at high level too.

His children are good sporthorses with good moves, but they're sometimes a little smal. Most of them are easier to ride with than Lysander was himself.

(I hope you understand me, it's a long time ago that I wrote in English If you don't understand, please ask me again)

How sad - unfortunately, I think that is quite normal when a stallion is taken out of bredding for sports. Then you hear nothing from them.

Well, I guess the mare has a lot to say as well. Also when it comes to temper. This horse has good movements and seems very easy to ride. But a little to small? Not for me - he's 170 cm tall.

(And, thank you for writing, I understod your English without problems)

That is indeed tall for a Lysander. The ones I've seen are about 165 cm.
