1996 piebald Tinker gelding 154 cm

I wonder if anyone could possibly help me trace my horse’s breeding/history? He is a 1996 piebald Irish Cob/ Tinker gelding who stands at 15.1/15.2 hands (measured height in Denmark 154 cm). He has a very wide white blaze and bottom lip with a partially pink nose. All hooves are white.

He rides but appears untrained. He is a very kind, quiet, easy going and intelligent horse in the stable but sometimes he gets nervous when ridden. Usually he is bomb proof but if he for some strange reason gets the idea that the rider will hit him he just panics and runs!

I bought him in August 2004 and have managed to trace his history back to the Spring/Summer of 2002 where a Danish dealer bought my horse in a sales stable in the Netherlands. The Danish dealer cannot remember where in the Netherlands he exactly bought my horse or from whom. I was told that normally the Dutch horse dealer did not sell tinker horses so I am thinking that my horse was not imported directly from UK/ Ireland but have been in the Netherlands for some time and was then sold to the Ducth dealer- it is just a theory that I have.

At least I assume that he was exported from the UK/ Ireland to the Netherlands at some point in time but he might even be born in the Netherlands?

I do not know what he was called by previous owners and he was not freeze marked or chipped either… I am keen to trace my cob's history between 1996 and Spring/ Summer 2002 and I wonder if you know of a horse of this description being in the Netherlands within this time period?

My horse is now named Samson of Ireland but I have given him that name so that won't help me in my search... but I hope someone recognizes him on the photo.

I would be really grateful for any help/information you can give me, no matter how small. I have spend so many evenings/ nights browsing Dutch Tinker webpages hoping to spot my Tinker on one of the pictures but so far I haven´t been lucky.

No I do not know the name of the Dutch horse dealer... The Danish dealer said that he could not remember ... but I think he just said that because he knew that I would contact the Dutch dealer if I got the adress and/or phone number. I have already been in contact with several dealers in Denmark... Actually 5 different people owned my horse within a month in spring/summer 2002!!! But they all remembered my horse even though it has been 2 years since they owned him when I contacted them. Maybe the Danish dealer did not want his Dutch business partner to get mad because some Danish girl really wants to know the history of her horse

But if it can be of any help the Danish dealer is Mr. Jan Mortensen from North Jutland (in Danish Nordjylland- he has adresses in the towns called Sulsted and Gistrup). He often buys a lot of horses in the Netherlands from sales stables and transports them to Denmark. But he does not normally buy Tinkers! He spotted my horse in the sales stable since it was the only Tinker there and then he thought that he could make money on my horse because prices for Tinkers in 2002 in Denmark were really high back then!

So does anybody know a Dutch sales stable/dealer that deals with Mr. Jan Mortensen?

Any information though you are only guessing would be much appreciated!

I'm really keen on knowing my horse background because it could be nice to know why he acts the way he does. Sometimes he gets really scared and I have had vets and physioterapeuts look at him. His saddle is made by one of the best saddle makers in Denmark. I can't think of a reason for his sudden reactions- they are so unlike tinker personality.

I love my horse and would not trade him for anything but maybe I could avoid some of these panic attacks he gets if I knew why... he is a danger to himself and others when he explodes...

And then there is the fact that I could be nice just to get some stories and maybe even pictures

and I hope that some of the previous owners are missing him and would like to know how he is doing

Olala, I think its very difficult to find old owners , especially when they are sales man from horses.
Because its 4 years ago.
