Deze 7 jarige fokmerrie is gisteren verkocht door het Engelse veilinghuis Tattersalls.
The dispersal of the late Prince Fahd Salman's breeding stock, consigned by Voute Sales on behalf of Newgate Stud, was always going to be one of the highlights of the 2003 Tattersalls December Sale and so it proved with a packed sales ring greeting the thirteen strong consignment.
RAMRUMA, winner of the English, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks looked a standout in the catalogue and the daughter of DIESIS was offered carrying to Darley Stud's MACHIAVELLIAN. The 1999 European Champion three year old filly saw initial interest from local agent Penny Barnes and Irish breeder Seamus Burns before Rory Matthews, bidding on behalf of Barbara Facchino's Barouche Stud entered proceeding's in the most dramatic fashion with a bid of 1,000,000 guineas. London based agent Charlie Gordon-Watson and Shadwell Estates' Angus Gold soon joined the fray before Coolmore Stud principal John Magnier signalled his intent with his first bid of 1,800,000 guineas. Gold soon regained the upper hand with a bid of 2,000,000 guineas but it was Magnier who was to prove triumphant with a final bid of 2,100,000 guineas, the highest price for a broodmare at auction in Europe beating the previous record of 1,700,000 guineas, paid for BROCATELLE at this sale in 2000.
2.100.000 Guineas is 2.205.000 Britse Ponden, in Euro’s is dit 3.795.687 Euro en in ouderwetse Guldentjes had dit meer dan 8.000.000 geweest
