Brandmerk A in de cirkel

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 20-01-12 09:49

Hallo, I am from Italy. I have a gray mare, looking like Arabian. Sheis about 15-18 years old, she has no papers, nor microchip, just a brand A in the circle about 5 cm. diametr on her left hip. Also she has a big scar on her left side. Is there anybody who knows this brand? Could it be afgekeurd holland brand set in such a way? I have never deen those brands, who can show me one of it? I soppose she came from Holland.

I always thought (and saw a few years ago a horse which had such a mark) that when a horse was rejected the mark was placed on the chest.

Not on the chest but on the shoulder.

The horse I saw had it on the chest, above the left leg.

It means the horse is no longer fit for duty due to insurrance regulations.

The A from "afgekeurd" is bigger, on the shoulder and doesn't have a circle. This looks like a private one, probably from Spain. They use a lot of different brands there (and lots of them have circles like this one).

Thanks a lot to everybody who answered.
This brand is not Spanish because Spanish brands are bigger, they takes almost entire hip, and they usualy are more intricated.
I have already seen this brand on a horse (not Arabian and on its hip too) from some catalogue of equestrian products, but it was in the very beginning of my investigation and unfortunataly I did not save that pdf-file. Such a brand was seen on a Holland horse by other people from Italy, though it was really put on a shoulder, but the "A" was in the circle just like my mare's brand. Then my mare had a rather heavy trauma, it is seen in the photo.
Well I think it must be an "afgekeurd" brand. Reading this forum I understood that this brand was put in different places of a horse body. Could it be so, that different insurance companies had different agekeurd brands? And my mare's brand is just a version semulating a breeder brand? Who can show some example?
Uryanne, was the brand you have seen with the circle too?

I don't know exact. It was a few years ago, but I don't remind it had a circle around it. It was much bigger than the mark on your horse.

I've seen brands in Spain and Portugal, which were about this size. So it isn't true that they're always bigger. :)

It could be "afgekeurd", but I've only seen those without a circle, bigger and placed on the shoulder. I don't know if they use different brands/sizes and places. But maybe other people have some pictures, I don't have them myself.
