Merrielijn & fokfamilie

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 06-07-09 20:13

Hi

I'm hoping anyone can help me in English - my Dutch is a bit rusty - to explain the difference between a fokfamilie and merrielijn and also i.e. Sina-stam. What does this mean. Merrilijen is quite obvious but how is this connected to fokfamilies? Seems to me all horses with a fokfamilie number seem to decend from Studbook Oldenburg..

What about the connection between Merrielijn and "some mare's"-stam.

Please anyone ;)

I thought it's quite similar. Only a fokfamilie has a number. But I'm not really sure who gives a fokfamilie a number and on what it's based.
A merrielijn is a female line in the pedigree. A fokfamilie is the whole family with male and female-offspring.
