You'll remember me when the west wind moves Upon the fields of barley You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we walk in fields of gold So she took her love for to gaze awhile Upon the fields of barley In his arms she fell as her hair came down Among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love Among the fields of barley? We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold See the west wind move like a lover so Upon the fields of barley Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly And there have been some that I've broken But I swear in the days still left We'll walk in fields of gold We'll walk in fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days Among the fields of barley See the children run as the sun goes down Among the fields of gold You'll remember me when the west wind moves Upon the fields of barley You can tell the sun in his jealous sky When we walked in fields of gold When we walked in fields of gold When we walked in fields of gold

The Wind That Shakes The Barley - Dead Can Dance
I sat within the valley green I sat me with my true love. My sad heart strove the two between The old love and the new love. The old for her the new That made me think on Ireland dearly. While soft the wind blew down the glade and shook the golden barley.
T'was hard the woeful words to frame To break the ties that bound us. But harder still to bear the shame of foreign chains around us. And so I said the mountain glen I'll meet at morning early. And I'll join the bold united men While soft winds shook the barley.
T'was sad I kissed away her tears My fond arm round her flinging. When a foe, man's shot burst on our ears >From out the wild woods ringing. A bullet pierced my true love's side In live's young spring so early. And on my breast in blood she died While soft winds shook the barley.
But blood for blood without remorse I've ta'en at oulart hollow. I've lain my true love's clay like corpse Where I full soon must follow. Around her grave I've wandered drear Noon, night, and morning early. With breaking heart when e'er I hear The wind that shakes the barley.

Corn Rigs/ Traditional Scottish
It was upon a Lammas night When corn rigs are bonnie, O! Beneath the moon's unclouded light I held awa' to Annie, O! The time flew by with tentless heed Till 'tween the late and early, O! Wi' smar' persuasion she agreed to See me thro' the barley, O! Chorus: Corn rigs and barley rigs Corn rigs are bonnie I'll ne'er forget that happy night Amang the rigs wi' Annie, O!
The sky was blue, the wind was still The moon was shining clearly, O! I set her down wi' right good will Amang the rigs o' barley, O! I kent her heart was a' my ain I loved her most sincerely, O! I kissed her owre and owre again Amang the rigs o' barley, O!
I locked in my fond embrace Her heart was beating rarely, O! My blessings on that happy place Amang the rigs o' barley, O! But by the moon and stars so bright That shone that hour so clearly, O! She aye shall bless that happy night Amang the rigs o' barley, O!
I hae been blythe wi' comrades dear I hae been merry drinkin', O! I hae been joyful gatherin' gear I hae been happy thinkin', O! But a' the pleasures e'er I saw Tho' three times doubles fairly, O! That happy night was worth them a' Amang the rigs o' barley, O!

en nog een beetje creepy maar wel mooi, een wicca (heksen) "gebed"gericht aan de Barley Queen
Barley Queen Goddess, Deliveress from guilt, Lady of the Nine Heights, Queen of Spring, Mother of the Willow Ura, reeve the Immortal One stretched out on your Oak Taunt them in your wild dance And gather the Children of Circe under the Moon As the fearsome -faced Goddess of Destiny, you will make a snarling noise with your chops. Dwindling to Nothing.

Geen idee, ik kwam het tegen toen ik voor de grap een search deed op "barley queen" , een godin die ze aanbidden..
