Ik heb jullie topic met interesse gevolgd. Sinds vorig jaar juli ben ik de trotse eigenaar van een paard met een volbloed-achtergrond. Zie horsetelex:

Ik ben benieuwd wat jullie kunnen afleiden uit zijn afstamming.

Het is voor mij het eerste paard met zoveel volbloed er in. Altijd al wel handig geweest met sensibele paarden...Ik heb mijn paard op 9 jarige leeftijd bij een professionele fokker gekocht die zijn vader zelf in eigendom had en er veel mee gefokt heeft met warmbloedpaarden. Mijn paard had totdat hij bij mij kwam niet heel erg veel in de sport gedaan. Niet uitgebracht e.d. Bij mij wordt hij dressuurmatig gebruikt. We zijn nu L2 geklasseerd en trainen op M-niveau. Zijn karakter kan ik als zeer werkwillig beschouwen, heel ijverig, maar ook wel sensibel zonder dat hij meteen heel rillerig is. Hij vertrouwt in het werk erg op zijn berijder. In de omgang super sociaal en vriendelijk naar mens en dier.

Dan jullie opmerkingen over het exterieur. Ik ben niet zo goed in het plaatsen van foto's helaas, maar naar mijn idee is mijn paard in vergelijking met wat ik hier voorbij zie komen toch wel opwaarts, in dressuurtype, gebouwd. Zijn rug is daarintegen zijn zwakste punt. Zeer hoge, steil aflopende schoft, ietwat weke rug ook en een wat hoger kruis. (Zeer lastig om een goed passend zadel te vinden) Vlakke gangen heeft hij echter niet. Paard loopt met veel afdruk en kan het achterbeen goed onder plaatsen, maar loopt wel graag liever groot zonder de onderlijn voldoende aan te spannen. Is wel heel soepel in zijn lijf. Het verlies aan tact en regelmaat herken ik wel. Helemaal nu is gebleken dat mijn zadel hem niet goed past en niet lekker ligt. Het eerste valt dat op in de tact die compleet weg is. 'Teugelkreupel' zeg maar.

Ik verwacht best veel van hem dressuurmatig gezien zijn karakter, lichaamsgebruik en bewegingen. Hij lijkt in ieder geval over zat potentie voor de dressuursport te beschikken.

ik ken alleen een stukje amerikaanse renpaarden die via step on it, bold lad, uitkomen bij Bold Ruler en Nasrullah. Nakomelingen zijn oa Secreteriat en Spectacular Bid.

maar dat is 5 generaties terug waarschijnlijk zijn er anderen die je beter kunnen helpen

Overigens voor de paarden die men in Nederland fokt die niet de flitsende dressuurgangen hebben en niet heel spectaculair springen, is er in Amerika een enorme markt. Er gaan heel wat paarden uit Nederland naar Amerika voor de hunter markt.

Het stukje is natuurlijk al een paar jaar oud, maar ik geloof wel dat de aangegeven trend zich heeft doorgezet.

In de eventing is de TB van oudsher veel meer gewaardeerd en waarschijnlijk ook nodig ivm zijn galop daar waar de nadelen in springen en dresuur nog overkomenlijk zijn. De percentages Volbloed zullen gemiddeld wel hoger zijn dan bij de andere disiplines, maar ook in de eventing loopt het aantal pure Volbloeds terug.

De schrijver is Iers als ik het goed heb, hebben toch een andere kijk op paarden (hunters) dan de nederlandse, duitse, belgische stamboeken. Wel weer vergelijkbaar met Amerika new zeeland en Australie. Hoewel gezien jouw vorige post de fokkers daar heel grote concurentie vanuit hier ervaren.

Ik bedoel niet te zeggen dat eventers op volbloeden behoren te rijden, maar dat een kruising warmbloed / volbloed nog altijd een goede is.

Er wordt voor de renbaan helaas nog steeds teveel gefokt, er is ook een volbloed resque die zich bezig houd met het herplaatsen van volbloeds. volbloeds die in hun 2e leven mishandeld verwaarloosd of verlaten zijn.
Met de huidige problemen is er geen eenvoudige oplossing voor de te grote productie van volboed, warmbloed en andere paardachtigen.
