I´m looking for pictures about Weston Falcon. Can anybody help me?

There is one quite famous picture of Weston Falcon as a three year old, made by Ellen van Leeuwen. I can check if I can find the picture somewhere. Falcon died quite young from the results of colic.

Oh, i hope you can find the picture! )It´s realy hard to find some pics of him. Do you know something more about him? How old was he, when he was died?
I know that he had produded some stallions with some influence (Nachtegaals Captain, Nachtegaals Ambassador, Singels Chip Wip, Boreas Winston, Singels Easter Surprise). Are there any other son´s and daughters, too?

Weston Falcon was imported as a foal along with a Weston colt by Revel Pye, I believe it was called Weston Music Man. Mr. van Zeeland purchased the foals off the breeder Jack Edwards and never intented to buy Falcon, as he liked the other one much more. I don't recall what happened to the other foal, but van Zeeland (Hofke's) ended up with Falcon as a stud stallion.

As a three year old, Falcon won his class, just in front of Boskant's Cupido (who of course won the Dyoll Starlight cup for best three year old bred in The Netherlands). Mr. van Zeeland wasn't complaining. At Hofke, Falcon didn't leave much of a mark, only one notable mare came out of the crowd named Hofke's Sophie (out of Sumrin Tiara). Sophie did win a number of shows when young and she actually did leave some nice ponies of which the most famous was Hofkes Daisy, who is dam of champion Nebus Serena. Mr. van Zeeland was happy to sell Falcon to Mr. Vos of Nachtegaal's stud, as he was fed up with his poor breeding qualities.

I must admit I never went to visit Nachtegaals stud, but Mr. van Zeeland came always with reports about how poor the foals were by Falcon at Nachtegaals. Quite hilarious, I should say, as we are talking about foals like Nachtegaals Captain, Ambassador, Barbery of Rose, License of Rose, etcetera that did very well in the showring when mature. From this period, also stallions like Singels Easter Surprise, Singels Chip Wip, Falcon's Pride and Boreas Winston came up. One must note that Falcon's Pride should in fact have been named Vechtzicht's Falcon's Pride as the Vechtzichts prefix hadn't been registered yet.

Falcon lived a relatively short life. He was well bred (being by Revel Janus and his dam being by Brierwood Blue Boy and his motherline tracing back to Weston Fair Lady). However, Falcon's dam Llandyn Drew never bred anything noteworthy but Falcon. I remember Ann Bale-Williams being very proud that her only foal by Revel Janus turned out to be the influential one, which turns out that not every stallion fits on every mare.

Falcon's legacy will remain, probably mostly through his son Captain, but there still is stock by his other sons or stock out of his daughters. For some reasons the mares got by him were rarely as succesful as the stallions got by him.

Chip Wip apparently died last year.

Chip Wip and Easter surprise were born in 1982
Captain and Ambassador were born in 1983
No stallions are approved from year 1984
1985 was the last year that Falcon's foals were born (Winston and Pride), so I suppose Falcon died in either late 1984 or early 1985.

Code: strange, I thought the 6 stallions were born in three consecutive years

Does anyone know how Weston Best Man is related to Falcon? I have a mare with Best man is her pedigree (her father is Colne Hyperion).

Bestman is almost not related to Falcon. Bestman is by Carnalw Hyderus (the stallion that did not breed well with Llandyn Drew Knipoog

) out of Revel Confetti. The Revel Confetti line belongs to Carol Jones, daughter of Jack Edwards. That line stems from The maternal line of Weston Falcon traces back to Weston Fair Lady & Revel Fair Maid, the line that brought Weston it's initial fame with Welsh Mountain ponies. On paper, the first relation would be through Clan Pip, sire to Revel Janus and twice grandsire to Revel Confetti. Bestman and Falcon were also two quite different stallions.
