Rocket Man is unbeaten in seven starts, with an aggregate margin of 30.9 lengths.
His last two winning times over 1200m at Singapore's lush Kranji track - 1min 8.6sec and 1:08.7 --were both faster than Takeover Target's winning Krisflyer time a year ago.
Takeover Target trainer Joe Janiak said he was well aware of Rocket Man's reputation.
"He seems to run a bit of time and he might be a horse on the up," Janiak said.
Shane Anthony Anderson, Sport 927's international racing bureau chief, said Rocket Man was the best horse to have raced in Singapore in the past decade.
"He runs times previously unheard of over there," Anderson said. "The times he ran at his last two starts were achieved under a virtual stranglehold.
"He scored an unbelievable win in the Lion City Cup, easily beating horses who were competitive with Takeover Target last year."
Anderson said the only possible flaw in Rocket Man is that he has never had to respond to the sort of pressure that Takeover Target would pour on.
Takeover Target was probably less impressive than his effortless T. J. Smith Stakes win first-up in Sydney, and gave Janiak and thousands of punters a brief scare at the 200m.
"It looked like he was in a bit of trouble but he dug deep," he said.
"He's a tough bugger."
