Je kunt bijvoorbeeld deze brief sturen naar de TWHA (Tennesse Walking Horse Ass.) (Dit heb ik gekopieerd van een amerikaans forum, waar het onderwerp ook erg leeft)
I am writing this letter in reference to the video that I viewed on ABC's Nightline in regards to Jackie Connell's abuse of a Tennessee Walking Horse. Incredible what I and thousands of others viewed in regards to the abuse of the Tennessee Walking Horse! I could not sleep after viewing the video of the horrific and barbaric act of violence against a defenseless horse. The individuals who were present and involved need to be held accountable for this unspeakable act. I, like thousands of others, will be watching to see what action is taken against the premeditators of this extreme animal abuse and what measures the TWHBEA will be taking to prevent abuse inside and outside of the Show Arena.
Thank you very much for your email about the abuse to our beautiful horses. I am most grateful that you took time to put your thoughts on paper and share them with us. Everyone at the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association is appalled, disgusted, and so frustrated at this horrific video and related stories.
TWHBEA has issued a response to this inhumane treatment. Our condemnation is only the beginning of many initiatives that must be undertaken to protect our horses.
The shocking revelation in this one video certainly does not mean that all horses are treated in this manner. When a father abuses a child it does not mean that all fathers are child abusers. This type broad-brush reaction is not appropriate. I know that you are aware of that.
TWHBEA will continue, and increase, its efforts to protect our horses. Since we have absolutely no authority in the inspection area at shows, we do not license trainers, we do not license or approve judges, etc., our efforts must come from working with other organizations to improve the quality of life for these animals.
The Horse Protection Act of 1970 was most needed. We should all remember, however, that no law eliminates a problem…it merely controls it. There are laws against murder, extortion, speeding, etc., and these laws are being broken as you read this memo. Our commitment is to find the abusers, prosecute them, and punish them to the fullest extent of the law. You are a wonderful advocate for the horse. The horse has no voice except what we give them. I am so proud that you, and many others like you, speak for the protection and proper treatment of our horses.
Please feel free to share any suggestions and comments with us at any time.
