Manege advice

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 28-01-19 14:26

Hi guys,
That is my first time here and I don't know if this is the right place to ask it.
I came from Brazil last year and I rode a horse there for 8 years, I'm now looking to somewhere that I can keep practicing horse jump near south holland of north belgium.
Does anyone has any recommendation about where should I go for it? I'm willing to drive more to train in a good place, so anywhere at maximum around 70km from Breda is good for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome!
Personally I don't know the surroundings of Breda, but I'm sure other "Bokkers" (people here) will be able to help you. Unfortunately maneges aren't easy to get to with public transport, usually.

The language here is Dutch, so I'm not sure what the rules are concerning using another language. But perhaps this is a chance to improve your Dutch as well.

Good luck!

What is your level in jumping? At maneges the jumping lessons are often at a pretty low level. In Breda I know manege Sintels, they offer jumping lessons I think.
I've had jumping lessons at Sonniushof near Eindhoven, they have school horses that can jump up to 1 meter.

Hi,

You can also use the 'Manege zoeker' on the website of the FNRS. It will only show you stables that are member of the FNRS, but that are a lot of stables/riding schools. You can also search here on distance and jumping activities. You find it here: http://www.fnrs.nl

In Brazil I used to compete in 1.10m.

If you really want to practice horse jumping in the Netherlands, you need your own horse or someone who wants to lend or rent you his/her horse. The quality at riding schools here is cry worthy. That goes for the things you learn about riding and the way they take care of the horses. They are just to learn the first few things and have fun with the other girls. Kind of like a after school hours thing.

I live in the south and here are no good riding schools. I for sure had a lot of fun there when I was a kid, but as good as everything I learned turned out to be bad. And at most other riding schools it was even worse. But you just don't know that when you're a kid and your parents aren't horse people.

Edit: I see you already did competitions. Then you for sure should not go back to a riding school but buy, borrow or rent a horse.
In this website(under Markt) or Facebook are good ways to find horse owners who are up for it. Or just visit a lot of competitions. Maybe join a riding club(Ruitervereniging we call that) in your area. You have to be a member of one to be able to compete and they often organise a lot of things (tiny home competitions, parties) where you can meet a lot of people.

You might want to check out the website www.KNHS.nl
That's the competition organization of the Netherlands for jumping/dressage etc.
