is is allowed to ride horses along the Pieterspad?. In case there is a need to get a permit, do you know where I could get it?

You can do the same distance. There are roads and routes suittable for horses, so you can go in the same direction.
If you can read Dutch, here is a report from a friend of mine, who did a ride from Delfzijl to Vaals, which is more or less de route of Pieterpad.

Thank you all for your answers. I will still go deeper in the internet sites you have provided me with. I would really like to do a long trail ride with my horse. Even if the conditions of the Pieterpad are not for rider, if it is not a violation of the law it could still be interesting. Itherwise I will check other possibilities as the Deltapad (North Sea route). I have seen that it goes along Zeeland and it does not cross often cities.

The problem is that some (smaller) parts of the route are prohibbited for horseriders. The most of the route is public road and no problem for riders, but it's sometimes hard to find out which parts are prohibbited and which parts are legal. And still, you can plan your own route along the Pieterpad, as there are a lot of alternatives for the parts prohibbited.

The are a lot of possebilities to do longer trails in Holland. In fact, your fantasy is almost the only limit

If you can read Dutch, the is a book of a guy who did a trip from Sneek to Vaals and back. He did make some mistakes, but the idea is still great.
