Stubben Juventus Dressage

Manufacturer: Stubben
Model: Juventus D
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle on tacktrader, the seller was very nice, and it was a great deal. It was the right size(17 inch seat, 32 cm. tree), and my saddle fitter said that a stubben would fit my morgan's back well. So I went for it. I paid $500(awesome deal!)

Likes: I love the flair panels, I no longer have to use a half pad, just a simple baby pad. They made my pony so much more comfortable, and I could even see the difference in her freedom(she almost never complains about comfort). I loved the medium sized blocks, though they took some getting used to! The tree fit my 14.2 hand pony perfectly, and I no longer feel the saddle slipping around no matter how tight the girth is. The saddle fit me perfectly (I am 5'1"), the flaps exactly the right length, the cantle neither too high nor too low, and my position improved sooo much.

Dislikes: The seat is very hard. Sometimes I tense up and find myself avoiding sitting deep in the saddle. But I guess this is what I expected with stubben. I do not recommend riding for more than three hours in this saddle without a seat saver. Also, the leather doesn't take oil very easily, I left it to soak in over night and in the morning there were still small puddles. But I am not saying the leather is stiff.

Quality: B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Where do I start. The leather is wonderful, not buttery soft, not stiff, but very supple and LONG LASTING. There is now sweat on the flaps from stirrup leathers, and I am the second owner! Th stitching is very tight, the billets only have slight wear, and the holes don't stretch(yey!). Overall, just a wonderfully constructed saddle!

Summary: This is an amazing saddle. I wouldn't trade it for any other. Apart from the hard seat, I have no complaints! Stubben has once again impressed me with breath-taking quality and construction! Now I am looking to buy a stubben jumping saddle
