Stubbern Edelweiss - Stubbern Maestoso Dressage Saddles?

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 20-04-07 12:18

Good evening everyone (well it's evening here anyway 10.20pm Haha! )

Has anyone got either of these 2 saddles, I'm looking for opinnions on them both as I'm "thinking" of getting them (much to my husbands delight Clown )

I'm trying to find saddles that fit my big 17hh x between Elephant, Giraffe and TB Horse with a very high wither, it's so impossible to find something half decent. I've ridden in the Edelweiss today, thought it was nice, but thought I'd get opinnions from people that have them. What do you think?? do you like the saddle or wished you never brought it???

Thanks in advance
Marci

If you contact Stübben in Germany they can tell you more.
www.stuebben.de

There's an English version of the site.

Thanks for that, I've looked up the North American Stubbern site, but never saw the german one. It doesn't really give you alot of information, so I thought I'd go the the riders themselves at least that way you don't get the "sales talk" from the person you are buying the saddle from, you get "true" opinnions of what the saddles are really like, either good or really bad and then to stay away from?.

I have the Stubben Edelweiss and I love it! Ja I use it for jumping and eventing. For dressage I have also tried the Maestoso wich I thought I would like very much, but I didn't like that one at all. For dressage I now have an Anatomica http://www.anatomica.nl/. Both saddles fit both of my (very different) horses perfectly.

Haha! I'm trying which is great, there are words that I pick up and then some I just can't understand. It's great for my dutch, I came to nz when I was 3, my parents used to speak dutch to us kids, but we used to give an english answer back. So I'm trying to re-learn alot of "lost" words. I must admit I am having fun doing this though, 2 things I love,... Learning the language again and mixing it with horses how much better could I get Haha! .

The only thing is and I appologise for this is that you'll always get (at this stage) an english answer back as I was never taught how to write in dutch. Huilen

I'm looking at buying both these saddles, but they are so expensive so I want to make sure that my descision is correct. They obvisouly need to fit my horse and me, which they do, but what I'm scared of is that if I purchased the saddles would I "regret" it in 1 or 6 months time? would it be uncomfortable to ride in or whatever???

and I suppose thats what I'm asking now, if anyone has one, loved it to begin with and for whatever reason they hate it now??, and would prefer to ride bareback compared to riding with either saddles?

I personally event, and need a good saddle for both the dressage and jumping phases, we are completing at 1 * level at the moment, 1.10m thinking of going to Intermediate level next season (which will mean I'll be doing 2* 1.20m) so I'm wanting something thats going to last me the next 5 - 10 years.

It's correct that those saddles are far more expensive than in the Netherlands.
Isn't it an option to buy the saddle in the Netherlands and ship it to NZ?

I don't know what fees customs charge you for importing the saddles.

Have you checked the Divoza-site?
Divoza is the largest retailer of horse and rider products in the Netherlands.
http://www.divoza.nl

I know that the ship abroad.

These two saddles are very comfy, and every Stubbensaddle is a high quality product Lachen

I just bought a new Stubben Excalibur a few moths ago and i also have a Stubben Siegfried II K2 jumping saddle, i never felt regret, not for a second..

Stubben lasts for a lifetime, i have another Stubben saddle which is made in 1977 and still looks like i bought it only yesterday:

This, by the way, is my jumpingsaddle:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto=ID8Y6DVZ

Almost 3 years old Lachen

But...

It all comes down to the way you treat the leather!!
If you keep it clean and use Stubben Halmanol, you should be able to have a saddle that lasts years and years Lachen

But, when you ship it off to NZ, I think that there are import taxes. Might be that this makes them equally expensive to the Netherlands.

I always bought my saddle with a guy who has very much knowledge about it. He knows my horsess and he knows which saddles are likely to fit best. Then we fit them and we ride with the saddle. This gives me a good impression.

Isn't this possible for you?

I have the Stubben Roxane for jumping (and eventing). For dressage we use KN. I love my KN!

We've got quite a discount on our Stubben Siegfried jumping saddle,
Including Stübben bridle and everything else, except the stirrups, because we already had good ones, we've paid € 1550,- for everything. Brand new.

That was in 2004, we bought it at Vrielink in Apeldoorn.

I test rode the Edelweiss today and liked it alot, I want to ride in it again to make sure, and really liked the Maestoso dressage saddle. But the gullet was to wide so she's going to bring over a smaller gullet for my horse so I can have a proper ride in it. My husband stated, and I think it's on the same path as what you were saying about the import taxes here (our damn govenment and tax) I think your going to be right, by the time I import a saddle + taxes it will probably cost about the same if I just bought one here, and I suppose this way I'd get the warrantee if something went wrong.

I don't know if you've any friends or relatives who are coming to NZ within a short time.
If you know the exact model and tree size, maybe thay can take one with them into NZ, without paying any taxes.

Concerning warrantee, as long there's a sales ticket with the saddle, I don't forsee any problems with it.
