Day one | Tuesday
The format:
The first competition takes place on Tuesday, and is goes over a big table A course but judged as a table C (penalties are converted into time). There will be no jump-off in the event of equality for first place.
Who can compete:
Everybody! The riders and horses declared as starters for the team and individual championships are all qualified to take part in this first competition, and it counts for both.
Scoring:
Is one long mathematics!
The scores obtained by each athlete will be converted into points by multiplying the time of each athlete by the coefficient 0.5; the score must be rounded up or down to the second decimal place. The second decimal place will be rounded up from .005 and rounded down from .004.
The athlete with the lowest number of points after this conversion will be given zero penalties, the other athletes being credited with the number of penalties representing the difference in points between each of them and the leading athlete.
Day two and three | Wednesday & Thursday
The format:
The second part of the competition is the team final competition, which also counts individually. It is conducted over two rounds run over two days; the first round takes place on Wednesday and the second one on Thursday.
Who can compete:
The riders and horses which have taken part in the first competition can compete in the second part of the competition's round one on Wednesday.
The second round on Thursday is open only for the ten best teams after Wednesday, and those teams with equality of penalties for 10th place. The 50 best placed riders, that are not part of a team, according to their classification following the competitions on Tuesday and Wednesday can also compete.
Before the ten best placed teams begin their second round on Thursday, the individuals among the 50 best placed riders following the competitions on Tuesday and Wednesday rides in the second round qualifier for the third competition that takes place on Saturday.
Scoring:
Teams which participate in the second round receive their placing by adding the penalties incurred by the three best riders on each team in Tuesday's competition and penalties incurred by the three best athletes in each of the two rounds of the second competition that takes place Wednesday and Thursday. The team which has obtained the least number of penalties will be placed first and declared World Team Champion.
Day four | Friday
Rest day!
Day five | Saturday
Format:
This third part of the competition is conducted under a table A and is not against the clock. It takes place over two different successive courses without a jump-off in the event of equality of penalties for first place.
Who can compete:
This third competition is compulsory for the 30 best placed riders and horses (including those placed equal for 30th place) according to the cumulative penalties over the first and second part of the competition.
Scoring:
The four best placed riders for the final are selected by adding the penalties incurred by each rider in the first and third part of the competition – held Tuesday and Saturday – to the penalties incurred in the two rounds of the second competition – held Wednesday and Thursday.
For those individuals and members of teams not qualified for the second round of the team competition the penalties incurred in the first and third competitions are added to the penalties incurred in the first round of the second competition and the round replacing the second round of the team competition. In the event of equality of penalties for the fourth place, the best score obtained in the third competition will decide which athlete qualifies.
Day six | Sunday
The format:
Each athlete must jump the course with each of the four horses qualified for this final, starting with his own. The leading rider going into the final will start last in the first round.
For the rotation on the horse switch consult the table below:
Who can compete:
The four best riders following the previous days of competition.
Scoring:
The athlete who has the lowest total penalties over all the rounds of the final will be declared World Champion.
In the event of equality of penalties for first, second and/or third place there will be a jump-off against the clock over the same course, each athlete riding his own horse.
Bij die hindernis met dat eerste huis is de rechterkant zo lang.. en door de positie van de camera denk ik steeds dat de paarden daaroverheen moeten gelukkig hoeft dat niet want dat is echt hoog
Inderdaad, pauze.
