*_RULES RIDDEN CLASSES FOR THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008_*
* Protective headware. *No person shall be mounted on a horse on the
showground unless he/she is wearing a correctly fitting hard hat.
* Whips *must not exceed 75cms (30ins).
* *Ridden class exhibits must wear conventional and well maintained
*English style tack*. The judge may refuse to judge a horse if he/ she
deems the tack to be unsafe or unsuitable.
No horse can be shown wearing boots or bandages.
* *Horses entered in ridden classes must be *4 years old or over*. Age
is calculated from the 1^sty January each year.
*The class as a whole will *be judged from the ground and individual
shows will be required
Marks for each horse and rider will* *be given by the judges
Any rider *falling off *within the show ring during the course of a
class will be disqualified and asked to leave the ring dismounted.
In ridden classes, a horse’s *manners *are important and Judges should
refuse to judge unmannerly, unschooled or dangerous horses.
Any horse in a ridden class which behaves in a manner which could cause,
or result in danger or injury to any other horse or person in the ring,
will be ordered to leave by the Steward on instructions from the judge
of that class.
*_CLASS PROCEDURE_*
The class will enter the arena on the right rein at walk. The ring
master will then give instructions for trot, canter and to change the rein.
Competitors will be asked to line up in numerical order. Each horse and
rider will give a short individual display showing the horse’s paces,
obedience and manners.
The horses will then be assessed on their conformation.
Exhibitors are reminded that this a showing class and not a dressage
competition.
*RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIPS *
All qualified exhibits must be ridden into the ring. However, if a rider
has qualified more than one horse, that rider will be allowed, if they
wish, to exchange horses and ride each horse for its individual display.
