You can talk English at Bokt, because the most will understand that.
But in normal life you have to talk Dutch.

Welcome at bokt.nl and in Holland! I sincerly hope that you, your family and your horse will enjoy yourselves in Holland!

You will arrive here in april? In that case, don't worry to much about the stables. I live in the same region (between Den Haag and Rotterdam) and my horse always goes into the pasture at the end of april, beginning of may. And in october 2006 you will know lots of people to help you to find the right place for your horse!

Go enjoy the beach with your horse in april, because from may till septembre it will be closed for horses because it will be too crowded with people!

Welcome to Bokt.nl! and ofcourse Welcome to our little country. Most people have their horses inside in the winter-time, but there are enough stables where horses stay in de field all winter..I guess you just have to call some ridingschools, maybe they can give you some advice. About talking Dutch, it isn't that hard. 26 years ago, my dad moved to Holland, he used live in Scotland. You don't really have a choice, than start talking dutch! :p. It takes time, but it isn't that hard

Hello Elisabeth, welcome to the Netherlands and to Bokt! *o/*

I know what it's like to move to an other country with your family. We went to Scotland when our children were 3 and 5 years old and and we have lived there for five years. We live in the south of the Netherlands now so I can't help you with a stable but if you ever want any help or advise on things like schools, shopping, family life and life in general in this country you can always ask or send me a pb (personal message).
By the way, you are still an yougster, I'm 45....

Hello and welcome on Bokt. I can't really help you with a place for your horse, since I live in Nieuwstadt, in Limburg. But I''m sure you will find a spot somewhere. At my place we celebrate x-mas on the 24th, since my birthday is on the 26th of december, so if we would celebrate it on the 25th, it wouldn't be much fun.
And how about you guys? When do you celebrate it?

That's not the problem.
But it's just not possible. Jou can't get on Bokt.nl using some one else her naam and password... It just can't be done.
I've tried!
So I think this is not for real. I think this is the same girl as the one whose topic was clossed in the first place!

In Holland we celebrate christmas on the 24th (just the evening) and 25 + 26th all day. Ain't we the party people 8)

I used to live in Leiden, not to far from Wassenaar. Finding a place for your pony will be difficult, because there's not a lot of space, but there are a lot of people that need space for their horse.

There's a nature reserve near Wassenaar, where a lot of horses are placed during the summer, to graze. I'm trying to remember the name...
I don't know if it's allowed to place your horse there in the winter. I do know that there won't be stables, and just trees for shelter.

Ylana, if you have doubts, send a mail to a moderator and ask for advice. They will know what's is possible and what not.

Just as Clitia says, Christmas is 25-26. No Christmas lunches here though

Perhaps you can check out if there are any icelandics places near Wassenaar, they generally stay out all day and night, so your haflinger would feel right at home among them. You could post a request on www.icelandic-horses.com , and you will likely get some answers. Good luck ! Whereabouts are you from in Denmark ? Just curious
