Help Needed in English

Link naar dit bericht Geplaatst door de TopicStarter : 04-05-10 10:03

Hi all, apologies for writing in English but I'm needing a bit of horsey help :)

I sold my KWPN (lunatic) mare last year as I was moving back to the city and couldn't afford to keep her. However I'm a bit like a junky without a fix and really need to get back into riding at least weekly again. So I'm either looking for some kind of riding school around The Hague area (that I can get to without a car) but it needs to be of a very high standard. I've been riding for 20 years and was competing nationally in both showjumping and eventing back in the UK and am used to riding slightly crazy horses (they are the most fun) :) The other thing I was thinking about was looking for someone who wanted a sharer. I've also got experience teaching, training, backing and breeding so basically anything that would get me around horses again would be awesome.

So any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry again for the English

Dank je wel :)

Hi and welcome on Bokt! I can't help you with stables etc. in and around The Hague (not my part of the country ;) ), but there is a subforum on Bokt called "verzorgpaarden", designed to help people looking for help with their horses come into contact with people who are willing to help :) I could translate something for you if you like, and put it on the appropriate subforum....?

You'll be challenged to find a good riding school that would really suit your standard of riding. Your second suggestion would be the better option, but even there it's often hard to find a good horse and, even more important, an owner you could get along with.

The suggestion in the post above is a nice one, although I'mm not sure about taking up the translation offer, since I assume you would want an English speaking owner.

Alternatively, you could drop in on a few riding schools in the area, and see how you feel about them.

Hi. I live in The Hague and can help you a bit on your way.
In which part of The Hague do you live?

There are severable ridingschools in The Hague and surrounding but - as mentioned above - the level is not of the high standard you are used to. Stables (you can reach by public transport):
- Manege de Wildhoef, Daal en Bergselaan 25...close to the beach and beachresort Kijduin
- Manege Berestein. Lozerlaan nr?. Close to skatinghall "De Uithof" (tram 6). They have good jumping possibilities
- Hippisch Centrum Westland (shares the facility with Party centre Condor City and is on the edge of The Hague (officially is situated in Wateringen). HCW is very close to Berestein. Looks from the outside like a westernstable but is a regular english stable. They have a very big jumping outdoor area.
- manege de Wittebrug, close to Madurodam (Scheveningen) . Very small scale stable.
- In Wassenaar there is also the Westkustruiters (close to the beach) but I frankly don't know if its easy to reach by public transport....

All stables have very good to excellent possibilites for riding outdoors. The one closer to the beach then the other.

My horse is stabled at De Arckelhoeve in Poeldijk. Close by Berestein and Hippisch Centrum Westland. The riding school is more a pony club, for the rest there are mainly private owned horses. Good jumping facilities

I personally think yo have more fun riding a horse for someone else. You can put notes on the clipboards at stables.....

I know someone at our current stable who is riding on a national level (show jumping) in France, with 4 times a week hard training, who had to train herself because on her level its very hard to find a good high level jumping trainer in the The Hague area. The western part of The Netherlands is more into dressage I'm afraid......

Good luck on your quest.

I suggest you write an add in this subforum --> [EA-VP] Verzorgpaarden
This is meant to help people with horses to find a sharer, or for people without a horse to find an owner who needs help.
You could also put an add on marktplaats.nl in the category "Paarden, verzorging oppas en les".

Thanks for all your great replies. Will have a look into those stables OKHannes.

I think you're right though and I'd be better off with a sharer so will put up an advert on the forum suggested. I am learning a bit of Dutch but not really at conversation level yet so ideally looking for an owner who knows some English. :)

TS, do you mean with sharing 'taking care off'?
Or do you mean that you want to ride a horse a few days per week, for which you pay an agreed som per month?
I got the impression is the last is the case,.....

In the first case, the above mentioned can help. Otherwise you can place a add on MP in which you decribe what your whishes are etc and the amount you can spend a month.

This is not true, on the subforum VP it is not allowed to place an advert if you are looking for a horse to ride ;) There is a special tab for ads of all kinds of things (horses, service and everything you want to sell) and also if you look for a rider for your horse or want to ride someone else's: [EA-VP] Verzorgpaarden The thing is, that this is a service for regular users of bokt.nl. And that means that you are not yet allowed to place an ad....

And this is not an option either.... since it is not allowed to place an ad for someone who can't (yet).
@rijerijerije: [EA-VP] Welkom op EA VP: Verzorgpaarden ;)

You got some good advice already in this topic, I hope they will be useful for you :)

Do you know people that ride / own horses around The Hague? Ask their help, maybe they'll know somebody who's looking for someone to ride his/her horse.

Good luck! (Also with learning Dutch, really hard language ;) )
