
Upper body slightly inclined forwards. Lower legs both back a little. Close legs but maintain contact. With a very educated horse you would need to do almost nothing except bring lower legs back and incline torso slightly forwards. With a young horse I teach it in hand from the ground then with a rider on top but the ground person still assisting. This was what I was taught myself and its always worked. Makes sense because the seat is lightened allowing the back to come up as the haunches lower.

grip! but this is with a less educated horse. The more the horse becomes sensitised to the aid the hand becomes unnecessary.
