Helemaal eens. Door omstandigheden ben ik nu ook al maanden bezig met grondwerk met mijn nieuwe paard en je leert elkaar daardoor goed kennen.

Voordeel van een zadel passen op zo'n guppy, is dat er nog geen verkeerde kant is. Alles is nieuw.

Het beste van 2 werelden: een kant met en een kant zonder manen. Afhankelijk van je gemoedstoestand kies je een kant. Dat kan gelukkig met een westernpaard ...

(Heb nu zelf een arabierig typje uit een andere discipline. Die gaat nog een beetje arabierig doen als je iets rechts wilt doen ipv links ... dus voorlopig doen we alles links totdat dat niet meer eng is (als in: er wordt niet meer gehapt en er zijn geen losse achterbeentjes).)

Lekker dan, smeerkezen op het raam.

Tijd om d'r op het blok te zetten in plaats van ervoor.

Had er ook zo een: ging het terras op bij de eerste stal. Het terras was iets hoger gelegen dan het straatje. Dus mafje stapt het terras op, tussen de stoelen door, achter de bar. Was al wat krapjes. Kon daar niet verder maar ook niet draaien. Dus moest achteruit dezelfde weg terug. Dat ging prima. (Was toen nog een beginnend trailpaard in wording. Ze had duidelijk aanleg.)
Dus achteruit tussen de stoelen door, tot bij het afstapje. Mafje kijkt eens achterom, voelt eens met een achterbeentje en stapt keurig achteruit van het terras het straatje op. Hoogteverschil was ongeveer 30 cm. Dat alles aan een halstertouwje met mij aan de andere kant. En een paar stalgenoten in de buurt die het een slecht idee vonden en pas weer doorgingen met ademhalen toen mafje "veilig" beneden stond.

Lekker bezig!

Ik zou haar trouwens niet een hele zomer op het land zetten maar ook gewoon nog wat onderhoudsdingetjes - grondwerk - blijven doen. Of bedoelde je dat ook? Joy vindt het leuk om met jou dingen te ondernemen. Dat zou ik niet op een laag pitje zetten.

Ook lelijke eendjes kunnen een mooie zwaan worden. Kwestie van geduld. Hoewel ... meestal ziet Joy er beter uit, dus dit is waarschijnlijk een tijdelijke terugval.

Ik vond een sidepull minder fijn werken. Die trek je met een beetje pech juist wat meer scheef. Ik denk dat het verschil met het halster dat je nu hebt gebruikt niet zo groot is. Voor fijn longeren met enkele lijn of dubbele lijnen zou je een kaptoom kunnen gebruiken.

Als je te zijner tijd over gaat op longeren met een hoofdstel kan ik je het Rambo Micklem hoofdstel aanraden. Door de anatomische vormgeving en de bitclips ligt dat als een huis in het paardebekkie en om het paardekoppie.

Ach, het onstuimige weer van afgelopen week geeft wel weer interessante leermomenten. Zo weet ik nu dat arabierig typje een prinsesje is dat niet van natte voeten houdt. En ook niet van een nat hoofd trouwens, dat probeert ze dan onder een afdakje te stoppen. Ik weet nu ook, en zij ook, dat een paardenhoofd niet onder een van mijn afdakjes past. En het is echt niet zo dat ze het niet geprobeerd heeft...

Dat was nog niet zo makkelijk met een paard dat van achter regelmatig tegen mij aanduwde (dat afdakje zit trouwens ook iets te laag) waarbij ik vooral zorgde dat ik op de been bleef. Ik hou ook niet zo van modder... zeker niet als dat hoger dan enkelhoogte komt.
