dit berichtje is wel een heel verontrustend berichtje van mensen die verkeerde ideeen erop na houden !!!!!!!UIt Canada notabe! Waar veel boeren naartoe emigreren!

Bio-industrie is verwerpelijk ,bio-terreur absoluut fout!!!!!

This was very shocking news when you consider the problems that other parts of the World have already encountered with the emotional and economic trauma to their countries.

Foot-and-mouth terror threat worries food agency WebPosted Fri Apr 6 09:01:53 2001

OTTAWA - Some animal rights activists say they would welcome foot-and-mouth disease in Canada or the U.S., even if someone purposely brought it in.

INDEPTH: Foot and Mouth Disease

"I don't think we'd be terribly upset if someone did it," said Andrew Butler, a spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, in Virginia. "It's not something that we're encouraging." 'The problem is it's very easy to do it if you want to do it'

– Andre Gravel The threat of someone bringing the disease into the country intentionally to sabotage the livestock industry is something Dr. Andre Gravel says needs to be addressed.

Gravel, executive vice-president of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, told the agriculture committee of the House of Commons on Thursday he is concerned enough about it to have raised the issue with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

"It is a real possibility and things have to be done to prevent that from happening," Gravel said. "The problem is it's very easy to do it if you want to do it."

Efforts have been stepped up to prevent anyone from bringing the disease in by accident.

FROM APRIL 4, 2001: Government steps up efforts to block foot-and-mouth

But Gravel says someone bent on bringing the devastation currently being experienced in the British livestock industry to Canada could easily get past those defences. Butler says PETA doesn't suggest anyone do that but he says the group would welcome the ends.

"These farmers are perpetuating an abuse on a scale which dwarfs the Holocaust," he said. "We're talking about billions of animals every year being slaughtered in a wholesale manner.

"That certainly should be upsetting to any rational, sane, thinking person."

That rhetoric is certainly upsetting to Gravel, who wants to make sure the country does everything it can to prevent such bio-terrorism.

CSIS isn't saying if it is monitoring any specific groups or people in response to Gravel's concerns.
