Goed nieuws voor Breedingstock eigenaren?

Ook weer via m'n amerikaanse forum...
Hoewel in denk dat het weinig zin heeft dat Nederlanders gaan schrijven of mailen, is het denk ik wel een positieve ontwikkeling. Door het uitschrijven van World Show onderdelen worden de Breedingstocks toch meer erkend door de APHA, waardoor er waarschijnlijk ook meer breedingstocks ingeschreven zullen worden op gewone shows. En elke ontwikkeling in Amerika heeft uiteindelijk ook gevolgen voor Europa. Ik denk dat met WorldShow onderdelen de Breedingstocks een goeie duw in de goede richting zullen krijgen.

Subject: Breeding stock classes at the World Show

I spoke with Brenda Jewell at the Paint Horse Association last Friday about
the possibility of adding some breeding stock classes to the World Show.
She says she gets many phone calls about this, but not enough letters. She
encourages us to write - NOW - as there is a meeting coming up about this
issue the end of September and invites emails to her at bjewell@apha.com
If enough of us write or email, then we can be taken seriously and something
just might get done.
Approximately 50% of the babies produced by paint parents are solid.
This is a huge hit for the breeders when they have no place to show and
vertually no "show horse" market. If we offered a few performance and
halter classes at the World Show (besides the mare class, which is presently
on the schedule), it would encourage local clubs to add breeding stock
classes, and owners to show these animals instead of shipping them off to
the sale for the rodeo people to pick up for pennies to go and earn good
money with them, while the breeder/owner takes the hit.
By not promoting the solid horses that we have, we are costing ourselves
and the association thousands of dollars, while these highly bred horses are
scrapped - sometimes even without papers or even being broke to ride.
I am encouraging you to please e-mail your club members about this,
asking them to mail Brenda. Please ask them to be specific about the
classes they would like to see offered. I have asked for Western Pleasure
and Hunter Under Saddle. But would truly like to see western horsemanship,
showmanship, western riding, trail, and a full gammet of english events.

!! Ik heb het altijd al bizar gevonden dat een BS meteen wordt afgeschreven puur omdat het geen vlekken heeft. Er wordt eerst 11 maanden reikhalzend uitgekeken naar de geboorte van een TOPCOMBINATIE van merrie en hengst en vervolgens wordt de neus opgehaald voor een veulen puur omdat het geen vlekken heeft Verward

. Het feit dat je ze weinig kan showen werkt dit uiteraard in de hand. Een goed initiatief dus om mensen op te roepen dit verzoek in te dienen.

Overigens zijn de praktijken in Nederland toch wel anders. Gelukkig! De breeding stock klasses op de wedstrijden van de DPHC zijn hartstikke goed gevuld en ook in de WRAN wedstrijden zie je d'r een hoop terug.
