STOP PUSHING ME DEEL 6
[i]CHAPTER 25
I slammed the main door behind me and walked clumsily to the living room, throwing my stuff on the floor as I’m doing my way to the couch and collapsing on her. I sighed heavily and closed my eyes just as I heard Maya shouting something from upstairs.
“No…” I mumbled.
“Gal?” she yelled again, making her way down stairs.
“What’s wrong?” she asked as she stopped in the middle of the staircase.
“Wrong? Nothing is wrong! Life is great… life is beautiful… life is simple… NOT!” I said as I buried my head in the cushions again.
“Gal? You ok?” she came down the rest of the stairs and sat down beside me. I sighed and looked up.
“Yeah, I’m fine, just a bit tired. Had a long, too confusing day.” I said as I sat straight. “So how are you?” I asked.
“Me? How do you think I am?” she asked me, she had this little stupid grin on her face. I gave her a weird look and her grin disappeared immediately.
“Don’t you remember?” she asked.
“Remember what?” I asked confused.
“My date!” she exclaimed. I opened my eyes widely. It’s today.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I totally forgot.” I said.
“You said you’ll help me get ready.” She said.
“And I will” I said.
“Really?” She asked.
“Of course.”
“But you look exhausted.”
“Well then, I’ll wash my face and I’ll be as good as new.” I said and tried to put a smile on my face. She kept on looking at me for a couple more seconds then broke to a wide smile and clapped her hands together with excitement.
“Great!” she exclaimed. “Then I’ll go take a shower.” She said and ran upstairs. Once she was up I collapsed back on the couch and sighed heavily. “Oh no.” I thought to myself.
“So what do you think?” she asked as she turned around posing me. I smiled widely.
“You look absolutely gorgeous!” I said. She smiled with satisfaction. She wore a knee long black skirt and a purple top. Her hair was down, resting on her shoulders.
“So where does he take you?” I asked, watching her fixing her make up.
“I dunno. He didn’t tell me.” She said. I smiled at her. Suddenly the doorbell rang down stairs. Her eyes opened widely.
“What’s he doing here so soon?” she asked, getting nervous. I looked at my watch.
“I’ll go see.” I said and walked down stairs and opened the door.
“Hello beautiful.” Abs said as he walked inside, giving me a hug and kissing me softly on the lips. I smiled and kissed him back, holding tightly to him.
“Hey.” I said quietly and leaned my head on his shoulder. He pulled away, still holding me tightly and looked at me with a concerned look. I smiled weakly.
“What’s wrong?” he asked. I sighed and pulled away from him, walking to the living room.
“Why everyone keep asking me that?” I said and sat on the couch.
“Umm, because something is wrong?” he asked, sitting next to me.
“I’m fine, ok? I’m doing great.” I said and got up, heading up stairs.
“Where are you going?” he asked. I stopped and turned to look at him.
“To help Maya get ready for her date with Sean.” I said. His eyes opened with amazement.
“What?” he called as he ran up stairs after me. We both entered the room to see Maya looking at the mirror. She turned around to face us and sighed with relief.
“It’s only you.” She said, looking at Abs, then turned back to look at the mirror.
“Thanks.” He said.
“Sure.” She said back and flashed him a smile. He rolled his eyes and sat down on the bed.
“Since when you and Sean are going out?” he asked curiously.
“Since today.” She said.
“Oh.” He said and raised his eyebrows. Suddenly the doorbell rang again.
“I’ll get that.” I said and sighed. I ran downstairs again and opened the door to find Sean standing nervously outside. I grinned at him.
“Lookin’ finnne.” I said, teasing him. He rolled his eyes and pushed his way inside the house.
“Is she ready?” he asked. I raised my eyebrows.
“What? No hello, how are you doing Gal? What’s new?” I asked, teasing him again.
“Hello, how are you doing Gal? What’s new? Is she ready?” he asked, teasing back.
MEANWHILE.
“You look great.” Abs said from lying on the bed with his arms behind his head. She turned around to look at him and smiled.
“Thanks.” She said.
“Hey, do you know what’s going on with Gal? Is there something she isn’t telling me?” he asked. Maya raised her eyebrows.
“Like what?” she asked.
“I dunno.” He said and shrugged his shoulders.
“She’s just a bit stressed and tired. I don’t know really. Some things with Sabs and Ritchie. She cares too much about it all, instead of caring for herself.” She said.
“Yeah I know, but that’s Gal.” He said and smiled to himself.
“Hey, he’s here.” I walked in the room. Maya looked at me, taking a deep breath.
“C’mon, go get him tiger.” I said and chuckled as we all walked down stairs. Sean stood nervously down stairs, pacing around the house ‘till he saw us and stopped. Maya walked up to him and he handed her some flowers.
“Thanks.” She said and smiled shyly. I smiled to myself.
“You like beautiful.” He said. She blushed and looked down.
“Well you two have a great night.” I said, trying to break the silence. They both smiled and nodded.
“Here, give me the flowers, I’ll put them in some water.” I said and took the flowers from Maya.
“Thanks.” She said. I walked in the kitchen and put it in a vase with water.
“Well have fun.” Abs said as they both headed outside. He closed the door behind them and turned around to look at me.
“So what do you want to do?” I asked him and walked back to the kitchen.
“Well.” He said, walking after me and sliding his arms around my waist from behind, whispering in my ear.
“It’s been a long time since we had some time to ourselves.” He said and grinned. I turned around in his arms and wrapped my arms around his neck.
“I know.” I said quietly as I kissed him on the lips. We moved slowly to the living room, standing next to the couch kissing. He pushed me gently backwards and I fell lightly on the couch and we started making out. He took his shirt off and kissed my neck when suddenly the phone rang. We ignored it at first but it didn’t stop.
“Abs.” I said, trying to push him lightly back. He sighed and pulled away, looking clearly annoyed.
“I should get that.” I said.
“No you shouldn’t.” he said and tried to kiss me again but I backed away.
“It might be important.” I said as I pushed him off of me and walked towards the phone. I picked it up and heard a dead line. I sighed and put it back to its place.
“Important aye?” Abs said. I sighed again and walked back to the sofa and sat down. Abs tried to kiss me again but I backed away again. He frowned.
“Now what?” he asked annoyed.
“I’m not in the mood.” I said and stood up, walking to the kitchen. He sighed and stood up, walking after me.
“Can you please tell me what’s wrong? What’s going on Gal?” he asked and sat down on one of the chairs.
“Nothing is wrong alright? I’m just not in the mood.” I said.
“Minutes ago you were.” He said.
“Well now I’m not.” I said.
“How do you want me to help when you’re not telling me anything?” he asked and sighed heavily.
“I don’t want you to help ok? I want you all to stop asking me what’s wrong!” I exclaimed. “Do I look like a charity case that I need everyone’s sympathy?” he sighed and shook his head.
“It just looks like something is bothering you, you don’t tell me anything anymore. I can’t realize alone if something is wrong or not. So I just assumed. Because like I said you look bothered.” He said and looked down. Now it was my turn to sigh heavily.
“It’s not true. I do tell you things, what makes you think I don’t?” I asked. He looked up, straight in my eyes.
“Because we don’t talk anymore. Not like we used to. And I feel like there’s things you hide from me. You’re not telling me.” He said. I narrowed my eyes.
“What are you trying to say?” I asked.
“I’m not trying to say anything. I’m saying what I’m saying.” He said.
“Well what do you want me to tell you?” I asked him angrily.
“What’s going on with you!” he yelled. I raised my eyebrows. He sighed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell.” He said and ran his hand through his hair with frustration. I looked down, some tears starting to form in my eyes. I closed my eyes as hard as I could and tried to stop them. I hate it when I start crying from every little stupid thing.
“Why everything has to be so complicated?” I whispered.
“Because life are just like that.” He said. I sniffed and looked up. He closed his eyes for a second and then opened them and looked at me, reaching his hand out. I took it and he brought me up to him, making me sit on his lap.
“Look, all I’m asking is, if there is something wrong I want you to come and tell me. Don’t keep it to yourself alright? Maybe I won’t be able to help but it’s always good to share instead of keeping it inside.” He said and smiled lightly. I nodded my head.
“Thanks.” I said and smiled back. He leaned and gave me a sweet kiss on the lips then hugged me tightly. I could feel him shiver.
“Brr, it’s cold in here.” He said. I chuckled.
“It’d help if you put a shirt on.” I said as I passed my fingers on his chest. He looked down on my fingers then at me and grinned.
“I’d rather not.” He said and kissed me passionately on the lips.
I laid next to Abs, my head on his chest, brushing my fingers on his broad chest. He stroke my hair slowly. We just lay there, enjoying the silence and the feeling of the both of us together. I closed my eyes, slowly drifting to sleep when suddenly I heard the main door open. I frowned, who could that b… oh no.
“Maya.” I called. I got up, quickly putting my clothes on.
“Where are you going?” Abs asked me confused.
“Down, Maya came home. I totally forgot. Damn.” I said as I put my shirt on and ran downstairs. I stopped at the middle of the staircase, watching Maya. She was standing against the door with a goofy grin on her face. She walked slowly to the living room still with that stupid smile on and just stared out to space, not even noticing me.
“Maya?” I asked slowly.
“Hmm?” she asked, turning her gaze to me, not taking the smile off.
“You ok?” I asked.
“Yeah… why do you ask?” she asked nonchalantly.
“No reason.” I said and stepped down the rest of the stairs and sat on the sofa.
“So, had a good time?” I asked and chuckled. She nodded. “Care to tell me how was it?” I asked, feeling like I’m talking to a 4-year-old kid. She shrugged her shoulders and sat down next to me.
“He’s so sweet. He took me to this nice restaurant. Not anything too fancy, it felt so right. It was on this hill, and it had this view of the whole city. It was like a dream. Then we had this nice walk, talked about everything. I feel like I know him for years. I can talk to him about everything.” She said and sighed. I smiled.
“I’m happy to hear that.” I said. She nodded her head slowly. There was silence.
“So…” I said, trying to think of something to say. Abs walked down as well and looked at us, raising his eyebrows. I shrugged my shoulders. He looked at Maya and coughed.
“So, what’s up?” he asked. I chuckled. Maya was still in her own world.
“I think it’d be best if we’ll talk in the morning.” I said, getting up from the couch.
“Yeah.” Maya said, not really paying attention. I frowned.
“C’mon.” I told Abs and we both walked up back to the bedroom. He took his trousers off staying in his boxers. I changed into my pyjamas and hoped into the bed as well.
“She looks happy.” I said. Abs yawned and nodded.
“You can say that again.” He said and rolled over so he was lying on his stomach. He put his hand around my waist and closed his eyes.
“C’mon, let’s get some sleep, I’m dead tired.” He said.
“Good night hun.” I said and cuddled into him.
“Good night love.” He said, already half a sleep.
I yawned loudly and opened my eyes, trying to stretch my arms without much success. There was something on me. I looked up to find a sleeping Abs. I smiled at the sight of his sweet face and brushed my fingers on his cheek lightly. He opened his eyes and smiled.
“Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.” I said.
“It’s ok. I wish I could wake up like this everyday.” He said and kissed me lightly. I smiled and propped myself up on my elbows. I stared at him for a couple of seconds.
“What?” he asked and chuckled. I didn’t answer him, just kept on staring.
“Gal what? Do I have something on my face?” he asked, making a face. I shook my head lightly and laughed.
“Then what?” he asked.
“Do you believe in fate?” I asked him. He frowned.
“What? What do ya mean?” he asked.
“Do you believe in fate?” I repeated.
“Well…” he said, wrinkling his forehead, the way he always does when he thinks hard on something. I smiled lightly at that sight.
“I don’t know… why?” he asked.
“I dunno… just wondering.” I said. He looked at me strangely, raising his eyebrows a bit. There was a couple of seconds of silence.
“Do you think we are meant to be?” I asked him. He raised his eyebrows.
“What’s with all the questions?” he asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
“Do you?” I asked again.
“I dunno.” He said.
“Do you sometimes wonder what would have happened if I hadn’t come back from America?” I asked.
“No.” he said bluntly.
“No?”
“No. Why would I do that? You’re here right?” I nodded. “So why should I bother myself with these kind of questions?” he asked. I nodded my head thoughtfully.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” I said as I stood up. He frowned.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“To take a shower.” I said.
“Can I join ya?” he asked, grinning.
I turned around to look at him, leaning on the bathroom door. I grinned seductively and raised my eyebrows, brushing my fingers on my lips slowly. He grinned again, about to get up…
“No.” I said and grinned evilly, turning around.
“Oh man, that was nasty.” He called after me as I closed the door behind me and laughed.
“Took you long enough.” Maya said as I walked into the kitchen. I flashed her a fake smile and poured myself a cup of coffee.
“You know, there are countries that don’t have as much water as here and can’t allow them selves to spend hours and hours and hours and hours and hours…”
“I get the picture.” I cut her off.
“In the shower.” She finished. I rolled my eyes and sipped the coffee.
“So, now that I see you’re back to earth, care to tell us how was your date last night?” I asked curiously. Abs looked up from the newspaper and looked at her.
“Well, it was great.” She said.
“That’s all? Great?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. She nodded her head.
“C’mon, you can share some more details than that.” I said. She nudged her head lightly towards Abs and coughed.
“Alright, I know when I’m not welcomed. Don’t worry about me, I have to go anyway.” He said as he stood up.
“Aw, why?” I asked.
“Got work to do.” He said. He leaned down and gave me a soft kiss on the forehead.
“I’ll call ya later love.” He said as he closed the door behind him. I sighed heavily and looked at Maya.
“You need to start getting used to it as well ya know.” I told her. She nodded and sighed as well.
“That’s a price I’m willing to pay.” She said.
“Yeah, me too.” I said and smiled.
CHAPTER 26
~*~*~* Two weeks later *~*~*~
I looked outside the window and smiled, the sun was shining brightly outside. I turned my head to the mirror in front of me and smiled widely.
“You don’t look a day more than 20.” I thought to myself. “That’s cos I’m not.” I continued and giggled. I put on my fave jeans and a baby blue T-shirt and went down stairs.
“Morning.” I greeted Maya happily.
“Yeah whatever.” She mumbled from her cup of coffee. I raised my eyebrows.
“You ok?” I asked her.
“Fine.” She mumbled again, opening up the newspaper, not bothering even to look up. I sighed and poured myself a cup of coffee.
“So.” I said, trying to come up with something to say.
“So?” she asked, finally looking up.
“What are your plans for today?” I asked, hoping she did remember my birthday after all.
“Liz and May supposed to come and pick me up in a couple of mins.” she said.
“Oh.” I said.
“What are you going to do?” I asked curiously.
“Don’t know about them but they’re giving me a lift to Sean.” She said.
“Oh.” I said and sighed again. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
“I’ll get that.” I said quickly and jumped from the chair and to the door. I opened it quickly to find May and Liz.
“Hey.” I exclaimed.
“Hey.” They both said and hugged me.
“How are you?” they asked as they came in.
“Great.” I said cheerfully.
“Whoa, you’re cheerful this morning.” May said and laughed.
“Of course I am.” I said as we walked to the kitchen. Liz frowned.
“Why?” she asked. I raised my eyebrows.
“No reason.” I said and sighed heavily.
“Hey.” Maya greeted them.
“You ready?” they asked her.
“Yup.” She said and stood up.
“Bye.” They all said as they walked out and closed the door behind them.
“Bye.” I said quietly and sighed.
“Great, just great. On my own on my birthday.” I thought miserably. I sighed and decided to go to Abs. I took my keys and mobile and walked out the door, locking it after me. I walked through the neighborhood and wondered if Abs remembered my birthday, he’d better.
“Hey.” I heard a voice calling me. I looked up and saw Abs coming towards me. I smiled.
“Hey.” I said quietly.
“What are you doing here outside birthday girl?” he asked. My smile grew bigger as he said that.
“You remembered.” I exclaimed and hugged him.
“Of course I remember, you really think I can forget that?” he asked as we pulled apart. I shrugged my shoulders.
“Dunno.” I said. He raised his eyebrows and laughed.
“I can never forget your birthday love. Come on, wanna go to my place?” he asked. I nodded my head and he took my hand in his and we started walking towards his house.
“So, what do you wanna do on your birthday? It’s a very special one, man you’re 20.” He said and chuckled.
“Hey.” I exclaimed and nudged him. “You’re 20 as well.” I said. He laughed.
“I know, it’s just fun teasing you.” He said.
“Whaeve.” I said as he laughed again.
“Umm, I dunno. Any ideas?” I asked.
“Well I thought we’ll go to a club or something, tonight with everyone.” He suggested.
“Yeah, I guess.” I said.
“Why? You don’t want to?” he asked.
“No, it’s great, I’d love to. I just don’t think the others would know why we’re going.” I said sadly.
“What ya mean?” he asked.
“They don’t remember.”
“Remember what?
“My birthday.”
“What?” he called. I nodded.
“You sure? How do you know?” he asked.
“They didn’t mention it or anything. I saw Maya, May and Liz this morning and non of them said something.” I said.
“I’m sure it’s nothing. Maybe you didn’t hear.” He said and smiled. I rolled my eyes.
“Oh c’mon, don’t let it ruin your birthday.” He said as he opened the door to his house. We got in and he closed it after us.
“Now.” He said. I turned around to look at him. He grinned and took my hand in his pulling me close to him. “I can give you your birthday present.” He said as he kissed me. I giggled as we headed to the living room. I pulled away from him and giggled again. He raised his eyebrows.
“Don’t you want to save it for tonight?” I asked.
“Save it? Who says we can’t do it tonight as well!” he said. I laughed and sat down on the sofa.
“I have to stop by at my parents in a while.” I said. He sat down beside me and put his arm around my neck, I rested my head on his chest and closed my eyes.
“Want me to come with you?” he asked.
“If u want… but that’s ok. I’ll be there for a couple of hours, having lunch with them and my brother.” I said.
“Ok then, send them my best, and send your brother happy birthday from me.” He said. I smiled and looked up at him.
“I will.” I said.
“Man, it’s amazing about you and your bro. I think about it every time all over again.” He said.
“Yeah I know. I got used to it already, having to share my birthday with him doesn’t seem so terrible like it was 10 years ago.” I chuckled.
“He’s 25 today right?” he asked. I nodded my head. Suddenly my mobile rang, I looked at it, it was Sean.
“Hello.” I said into the receiver.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY.” He yelled.
“Man you just ruined my ear.” I said laughing. He chuckled.
“How are you on this fine day?” he asked. I smiled.
“Fine thanks, you?” I asked.
“I’m great. Where are you?” he asked.
“With Abs.” I said.
“Oh… am I interrupting anything?” he asked, I could hear him grin.
“No.” I said and rolled my eyes.
“Right… so just wanted to wish you happy birthday hun, may all your dreams would come true and I hope you’ll have a wonderful birthday.” He said. I smiled again.
“Thanks Sean, I hope so too.” I said. “Umm… is Maya there?” I asked.
“Maya?” he asked.
“Yeah, Maya as your girlfriend.” I said.
“I know who she is, no she isn’t here… why, she supposed to be here?” he asked. I frowned.
“But…” I started.
“Oh… umm… she’s suppose to be here in umm half an hour.” He cut me off. I raised my eyebrows.
“Oh.” I said.
“Yeah she just called and said she’ll be late.” He said, I could hear he wasn’t so sure of himself.
“You sure?”
“Of course I’m sure, why wouldn’t I be?” he asked, just a bit too quickly.
“Ok Sean. Well I gotta go so I’ll talk to you later.” I said. He sighed.
“Bye.” He said and hung up. I hung up too and looked up at Abs who was watching TV.
“Hun, is there something going on that I don’t know about?” I asked. He looked at me slowly.
“Er, like what? What happened?” he asked. I studied his face closely.
“I’m not so sure, something weird just happened. Maya told me she’ll be at Sean’s and she’s not.” I said.
“So? Maybe she remembered she had something to do, or maybe she suddenly remembered your birthday and ran to buy you a last minute present.” He said and chuckled. I nudged him.
“Very funny.” I said. He smirked and I rolled my eyes.
“How about I’ll take you out for breakfast?” he asked. I looked at my watch.
“It’s kind of late, I need to be at my parents’ in an hour and a half.” I said.
“It’s just enough time to have a quick breakfast.” He said as he stood up and took my hand, leading me outside the door.
I opened the door to my house and got inside, closing it behind me.
“Hey.” I called out loud. Maya came running downstairs.
“Hey.” She called back cheerfully. I raised my eyebrows.
“You ok?” I asked. She smiled widely and took my hand, leading me to the living room.
“Yeah sure, why wouldn’t I be?” she asked. We sat down. I looked backwards to the kitchen but she quickly grabbed my face with her hand and made me look at her. I raised my eyebrows again.
“Maya what’s going on?” I asked her. She sighed and let go of my face.
“Well, ok. See I wanted to surprise you and do something special for your birthday.” She said.
“So you didn’t forget?” I asked her.
“Of course not. Jeez, you really think I’m such a lousy friend?” she asked and chuckled.
“No, it’s just that you didn’t say anything and I thought you forgot.” I said.
“I know, that was the plan. Anyway please don’t go into the kitchen.” She said. I grinned evilly. “You’ll only ruin your own surprise.” She said. I laughed.
“Ok fine, I won’t.” I said.
“So what were you doing all day?” she asked.
“Well, in the morning after you and May and Liz went out leaving me all by myself, I walked over to Abs, hung around there a bit and then he took me out for breakfast. After that I went to my parents. We all had lunch together, with my brother as well of course and umm that’s it.” I said.
“Nice, very nice.” She said.
“Yeah, nothing special though.” I said. She smiled.
“Oh well, there’s always next year right?” she said. I nodded.
“I guess.” I said as I stood up. “I’m gonna have a nice bubble bath.” I said as I started to head upstairs.
“Don’t take too long. I need to get inside there as well. Abs told me we’re going clubbing.” She called after me.
“Yeah yeah.” I said back as I entered the bathroom.
“You coming?” Abs asked me. I got out of the car and closed the door behind me. I straightened my skirt and walked towards Abs.
“Where is everyone?” I asked as we walked towards the entrance.
“J told me they’ll meet us inside.” He said. I nodded my head. We got to the entrance, there was a big line there. Abs took my hand and led me to the big bouncer that was standing there. Abs gave him a nod with his head and he let us through. I raised my eyebrows at that.
“The benefits of being a pop star.” Abs said and grinned. I chuckled as we got inside. We went down stairs, the music busting our ears. Abs opened the door and as we got inside the music suddenly stopped and I was taken back by loud shouts of surprise and happy birthday. My jaw dropped and my eyes were wide open, my heart was beating so fast I was sure it’s gonna jump right out of my chest.
“Surprise.” Abs said. I tried to turn my head to look at him but couldn’t.
“You ok?” I heard Abs asking me.
“Oh my… wha… how… when???” I mumbled, trying to get my heart steady. There were loads of people there, some of ‘em I didn’t know but most I did, noticing old faces I haven’t seen in ages. I finally turned to look at Abs, he was grinning widely at me. I laughed and hugged him tightly.
“Thank you.” I told him. He pulled away and looked at me.
“Anything for you love.” He said and kissed me. All the faces were still staring on me.
“Thank you.” I said out loud. Everyone cheered and the music finally started again. I sighed in relief, I couldn’t bear all those faces on me any longer.
“Happy Birthday.” Sean came running towards me and gave a big hug. I laughed.
“You, you almost ruined it all!” I told him. He blushed a little bit.
“I know.” He said in an apologizing tone. I laughed.
“Ah, no big deal.” I said as all the rest came to hug and greet me.
“Man I can’t believe you pulled it all.” I told them.
“The credits go to this man.” J pointed on Abs. “He practically did it all by himself.”
“Really?” I asked. Abs smiled proudly.
“Not everything.” He said.
“Oh, my Abs… always being so modest.” I said sarcastically. They all laughed.
“Well c’mon, you got loads of people to see.” He said and pulled me into the crowd.
After ages, I finally thanked everyone I could and caught up a bit with me old mates. I sat down near the bar and asked for orange juice.
“Orange juice? On your birthday?” asked a voice from behind me. I turned around and saw Sean. I smiled.
“C’mon, you can get wild tonight, I dare you to have a soda!” he laughed. I rolled my eyes.
“You know I don’t drink all these bubbly things.” I said, trying to be heard over the loud music. He hit his head.
“How could I forget?” he said. I laughed and drank from my orange juice.
“I’ll save the alcohol for later, thanks!” I said.
“So, enjoying yourself?” he asked. I nodded my head yes.
“Yup, I’m having a great time. Just a bit tired from all the attention.” I said and laughed.
“Aw, poor you.” He joked again.
“So, where’s Maya?” I asked. He looked back on the dance floor.
“Getting wild with your man.” He said and laughed. I turned backwards and saw Maya and Abs dancing wildly to the music. I laughed.
“Well, they’re having fun.” I said and smiled. He nodded.
“Hey.” Ritchie called out, coming towards us. “What’s up with Abs and Maya?” he said and laughed. We both shrugged our shoulders.
“I just wanted to wish you girl happy birthday.” He said and hugged me tightly, I hugged him back. “Sorry I wasn’t here earlier, I had some things to take care of.” He said and sat down. I frowned but he just shrugged his shoulders and waved it away with his hand.
“So why are you sitting here and not dancing?” he asked.
“Just taking a break.” I said. He nodded his head and turned around in his sit so now he faced the dance floor. I turned around as well. I saw Sabs dancing on the dance floor, glancing over to where we sat from time to time. Ritchie on the other hand was staring bluntly at May.
“Have you talked yet?” I asked. He shook his head. I sighed. Suddenly he got up and walked away. I sighed again and decided to stand up as well and go to dance. I stood up and as I was about to head towards the dance floor I suddenly bumped into someone.
“Sorry.” The girl that bumped into me called out so I could hear her. I smiled.
“It’s ok.” I said and looked down to straighten my skirt, when suddenly I realized that’s Scott’s girl. I looked up again but she was gone. I frowned but shook it off and went to dance along the others.
“I'm outta love can't you see baby that you gotta set me free… I'm outta… Let me get over you
The way you've gotten over me too yeah, seems like my time has come and now I'm moving on, I'll be stronger… WOOHOO” I sang loudly along the music, dancing madly and jumping all over. I was so into the song that I didn’t even notice Abs slipping away from the crowd.
“I'm outta love set me free and let me out this misery, just show me the way to get my life again you can't handle me…” the song faded away slowly and stopped.
“Woohoo, yeah. That was nice.” Someone said into the mic. I turned around and saw it was Abs, standing near the DJ. I smiled.
“Ok, this next song is for my very special love which surprisingly has a birthday today…”
“Oh you shouldn’t have.” My brother called out cutting him off. Everyone broke into loud laughter. I burst out laughing and put my thumbs up for my brother.
“Oh shut up Ben.” Abs called. He smirked at him. “Anyway as I was saying. This next song is dedicated to Gal. Happy birthday love.” He said and the music started playing. He walked down the stairs from the DJ’s place still holding the mic in his hand. I frowned when suddenly he started singing.
“Every time our eyes meet
This feelin' inside me,
Is almost more than I can take.”
Abs walked towards me singing into the mic. I smiled as he got closer to me.
“Baby when you touch me,” he took my hand in his and squeezed it.
“I can feel how much you love me,
And it just blows me away.
I've never been this close to anyone or anything,
I can hear your thoughts,
I can see your dreams.”
People around us began to dance and finally took their eyes from us. Abs wrapped one arm around my waist and in the other held his mic.
“I don't know how you do what you do,
I'm so in love with you
it just keeps gettin' better,
I want to spend the rest of my life,
With you by my side, forever and ever,
Every little thing that you do,
Baby I'm amazed by you.”
I couldn’t stop smiling, it was so romantic.
“The smell of your skin,
The taste of your kiss.” He caressed my cheek and then moved his fingers slowly on my lips. I kissed his fingers.
“The way you whisper in the dark.
Your hair all around me,” he stroke my hair softly.
“Baby you surround me,
You touch every place in my heart.
You know it feels like the first time, Every time,
I want to spend the whole night in your eyes.”
“I don't know how you do what you do,
I'm so in love with you,
It just keeps gettin' better,
I want to spend the rest of my life,
With you by my side, forever and ever,
Every little thing that you do, oh,
Every little thing that you do,
Baby I'm amazed by you.” He finished off, looking down.
The music stopped and he raised his head and looked deeply in my eyes. I had some tears in the corner of my eyes. He smiled and kissed me on the lips. I closed my eyes, kissing him back. We pulled apart after a few seconds.
“Thank you.” I whispered. He smiled.
“Don’t need to thank me, it’s what I feel, for you” He said. I smiled back and hugged him tightly.
“Thank you for everything.” I said.
CHAPETR 27
I leaned my head on Abs and swayed slowly to the music.
“You having fun?” he whispered in my ear. I nodded my head.
“It’s the best.” I said. He smiled.
“Good.” He whispered again. He tightened his grip around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I smiled at that, the feeling of his arms around me were the best feeling. The safety I felt when he hugged me. The song faded away slowly and instead of him came on another slow song. It wasn’t a familiar song but it sounded nice. Suddenly I noticed Ritchie going down the stairs with a mic in his hands.
“Him too?” I asked out loud.
“Wha?” Abs raised his head from my shoulders and looked around. I pointed at Ritchie. Abs raised his eyebrows.
“When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained.” He started singing, his voice shaking a bit. He was looking around, probably trying to find May. I looked around when I noticed her standing in a corner, her mouth wide open. I smiled and looked at Ritchie and nudged my head towards her. He noticed that and saw her.
“But darlin’ when I hold you
Don’t you know I feel the same” He continued singing. He approached her; everyone was looking at them.
“’Cause nothin’ lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it’s hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain.” He sang. A smile started to form on her lips and I could see Ritchie mouthing her an “I’m sorry.”
“We’ve been through this such a long long time
Just tryin’ to kill the pain.”
He took her hand in his and kissed it gently. I could see she was falling for it all. He brought her up to the dance floor.
“But lovers always come and lovers always go
And no one’s really sure who’s letting go today
Walking away.”
“If we could take the time
To lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin’ that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
Than darlin’ don’t refrain
Or I’ll just end up walkin’
In the cold November rain.”
They started dancing and I smiled to myself. Finally everything’s starting to be like it used to be. I rested my head on Abs and we started dancing to the music once again.
“Do you need some time… on your own
Do you need some time… all alone
Everybody needs some time… on their own
Don’t you know you need some time… all alone”
“I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you.”
“Sometimes I need some time… on my own
Sometimes I need some time… all alone
Everybody needs some time… on their own
Don’t you know you need some time all alone.”
“And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there’s no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
Even cold November rain.”
“Don’t ya think that you need somebody
Don’t ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one.”
He finished off. Everyone started to cheer and clap their hands. It was really amazing. I looked at Ritchie and May, they were too busy in a deep kiss to notice everyone around them. I smiled to myself and looked at Abs.
“Finally everything is back to its place.” I said. He nodded his head and gave me a pack on the lips.
“What was that for?” I asked, chuckling. He shrugged his shoulders.
“Can’t I kiss my girlfriend?” he asked.
“Well, it depends.” I said. He laughed.
“On what?” he asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
“I dunno… it just depends.” I said. He laughed and shook his head lightly.
“C’mon.” he said, grabbing my hand and starting to walk.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“To find a corner and make out.” He said. I laughed.
“Abs. Not now… it’s my birthday.” I said.
“Exactly, don’t you want your birthday present? I didn’t get to give it to you this afternoon.” He said. He past the bar and found a dark corner at the end of the club where there was no one around. He pushed me lightly against the wall.
“Abs c’mon, not now.” I told him. He took his bottom lip out and gave me his best puppy look.
“Just for a couple of minutes.” He said, putting his hand on the wall just above me. I grinned.
“How can I say no to this?” I said and grabbed his collar shirt, pulling him into a deep kiss. He wrapped his arms around my waist kissing me back. I slid my hands up and down his back, moving them under his shirt. I pulled away after a couple of minutes.
“Now let’s get back to the party.” I told him.
“Just a couple more minutes.” He said, trying to kiss me again. I backed away as much as I could since I was standing against the wall.
“Abs, we said something.” I told him. He huffed.
“We’ll have plenty of time later.” I said. He nodded his head, a grin starting to spread on his lips.
“Oh get those dirty thoughts out of your head Abidin.” I called. He laughed and shook his head lightly.
“Anyway, I do have something to give you.” He said. I frowned. “Your birthday present.”
“Oh Abs you didn’t have to, this whole thing is more then enough.” I said.
“No it isn’t, you deserve more.” He said. I blushed lightly.
“But you know.” I whispered in his ear. “You’re still the best birthday present there is.” He grinned.
“I know.” He said. We both broke into fits of laughter.
“Well.” He said, taking out a little box from his pocket. “This is for you, happy birthday love.” He said and kissed me on the cheek. I took the box from his hand and opened it. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. It was a necklace, it had a pendant in the shape of a heart and it had a lot of little diamonds on it. It was beautiful. Abs always had a good taste in Jewelry.
“Do you like it?” he asked. I didn’t know what to say.
“Wow, it’s beautiful.” I said slowly.
“So you like it right?” he asked again.
“Abs, I… I can’t have it.” I said and closed the box.
“What?” he asked.
“It’s too much.”
“No it’s not. I told you, nothing is too much.”
“Abs it’s not fair, I can’t afford buying you something like that.” I told him, looking down.
“I’m not asking you to buy me something like that, I’m asking you to accept this gift from me.” He said. I looked up at him, his eyes filled with so much love and passion.
“Please?” he asked quietly. I sighed.
“Thank you.” I whispered to him. He broke into a wide smile and opened the box again, taking the necklace out. I turned around and he put the necklace around my neck, closing the clip behind. I turned around again to face him. He smiled, his eyes fixed on the necklace.
“It’s beautiful, just like you.” He said and kissed me.
“Thank you so much.” I told him again, pulling him into a tight hug. I sighed deeply at the feeling of his arms around me and pulled away seconds later.
“C’mon, let’s get back to the party.” I told him and grabbed his hand, leading him back to the bar. I sat down and ordered a beer. Abs sat next to me and ordered a soda. I took a sip from my beer and looked around. Scott and his chick were sitting a couple of sits next to us, deep in a conversation. I eyed her suspiciously, I didn’t like her, not a bit. Abs probably noticed them too cos he suddenly called Scott’s name and waved to them. I sighed, why did he have to do that? They got up and walked towards us, sitting in the chairs next to us. I smiled my best fake smile and took another sip from my beer.
“Hey, guys I want you to meet Ilil, Ilil these are Gal and Abs.” I gave her another fake smile and turned my head to the dance floor.
“Scott I need to show you something, would you mind coming with me for a sec?” Abs asked him suddenly. I turned my head sharply to look at him, giving him a pleading look to not leave me with her. He shrugged his shoulders, not really getting what I want.
“You’ll excuse me for a minute?” he asked Ilil, she nodded her head and they walked off. I looked at her, not really knowing what to say. She smiled.
“Happy birthday.” She said. I smiled weakly.
“Thanks.” I said and turned my head around. I sighed.
“Look, I don’t know you and I don’t know what are your plans but I can assure you one thing, you’d better treat Scott right. He’s very important to me and he’s been through a rough time lately, and I intend to do anything to not let him get hurt again.” I told her quickly. She raised her eyebrows.
“Don’t raise your eyebrows at me. I meant everything I said.” I told her. “Is it clear?”
“You don’t need to threaten me you know, I’m sure Scott has enough body guards, he doesn’t need more.” She said as she stood up. It was my turn to raise my eyebrows.
“I asked you something, is it clear?” I raised my voice a bit. She stopped and looked at me.
“Yes it is.” She said.
“Good.” I said and walked away.
CHAPTER 28
“Heyyy.” I called out as I saw Abs coming towards me. I tried to get up but fell right back to my sit.
“Whoa, watch out there.” He said, grabbing my arm. I gave him a goofy smile.
“You are just so sweet.” I said, grabbing his collar shirt and pulling him closer to me, trying to kiss him but he backed away.
“How much did you drink?” he asked, making a face and straightening his shirt.
“Er… well… hmm…” I said, scratching the top of my head, trying to think how much drinks I had tonight.
“Too much that’s for sure.” He said. I laughed and put my head on the counter. Almost everyone left the club already, and now we were all sitting around the bar, almost everyone drunk to their bones.
“Anyone interested in a beer?” Someone called out. I raised my head and laughed loudly. Ritchie was standing in the other end of the room, one arm wrapped around May and in the other hand he had a beer, swinging from side to side.
“Man you’re heavy.” May called out, trying to drag him towards the bar but failing miserably and he fell down right on his bum. I burst out laughing, almost knocking myself on the floor as well. Ritchie burst out laughing, taking a big gulp from the beer. I looked at Abs, he was shaking his head.
“Hun, you have no idea how much fun you’re missing.” I called out to him, getting up and walking slowly to the dance floor.
“My definition of fun is having my liver nice and whole and being conscious, thank you very much. After all, someone has to take care of you guys.” He said. I made a face at what he said.
“Rigggghhhttttt…” I said and giggled. “So who’s up to sing with me?” I called out.
“OH oh, I am I am!!!” Maya called out, running towards me.
“So what are we gonna sing?” I asked her.
“Hmm… how about… maybe… well…”
“Would you make up your mind already.” I called at her.
“Jeez, just don’t eat me.” She called. I raised my eyebrows and burst out laughing.
“Isn’t it supposed to be, don’t bite me?” I asked her.
“Well I like better don’t eat me… you mind?” she huffed. I laughed.
“Whaeve.” I said and walked towards Ritchie who was still sitting on the floor.
“Where are you going?” Maya called after me. “What about our song?”
“Don’t feel like singing anymore.” I called back.
“I don’t need you, I’ll sing on my own.” She said and started singing loudly… make it screaming.
“My loneliness is killing and I, I must confess I still believe, still believe, when I’m not with you I lose my mind, give me a sign, hit me baby one more time”
“No, make it stop.” I called, covering my ears with my hands. She stopped singing. I sighed in relief.
“Thank you god.” I said and laughed loudly. She took her tongue out to me and went to sit back next to the bar.
“Hey Ritchie darlin’” I said to him, looking down at where he was sitting. He looked up at me and smiled.
“Care to help me?” he asked.
“Oh I’d love to.” I said and offered my hand to him. He took it, but instead of getting up he pulled me down with him.
“Whoa.” I called out, landing on top of him. We both burst out laughing.
“Right. I think it’s time we’ll go home.” Abs said and walked towards Ritchie and me who were still laughing our asses off. He grabbed my hand and picked me up.
“Wha?” I called out. “Abs… put me down… you’re ruining all the fun.” I whined at him. He shook his head.
“You’re gonna hurt yourself in the end, like you always do.” He said.
“So I sprained my ankle once, big deal… it happens to everyone.” I said. He stopped and put me down, looking at me, raising his eyebrows. I laughed.
“Ok, so it doesn’t happen to everyone.” I called out. He was about to pick me up again but I ran away from him. One second I was looking back at him while running and the next second I found myself on the floor. “Aw, my bum.” I called out.
“What did I tell ya?” Abs asked. I looked up and saw Ilil and Scott looking down at me. I smiled sweetly and stretched my hand out to them. Scott rolled his eyes and took my hand, helping me up.
“Well Hellooo there.” I said out loud. I turned to face everyone and called out “Hey look what I found… it’s Scott and Ilil.” I laughed loudly. I turned back to look at them.
“So, what have you two been up to?” I asked and grinned.
“Nothing.” Ilil said.
“Right… that’s why your shirt is inside out.” I said. She looked quickly down at her shirt and I burst out laughing. “Gotcha.” I called out. Everyone started to laugh. I grinned at them again and walked back to the bar. I looked over to where Sean was sitting, his head bent down on the bar. I grinned mischievously. I looked backwards at everyone and motioned them to be quiet. I tiptoed over to Sean and whispered in his ear.
“Sean… Seanie boy… what are you dreaming about? Seeaann… WAKE UP!!!” I suddenly screamed. He shot his head up, screamin’ like a girl. I fell down on the floor, clutching my stomach from laughing so hard. I looked up at him, still laughing hard. His eyes were fixed on me, not blinking at all, there was a sparkle in his eyes. I stopped laughing. Everyone was looking at us. He started to stand up slowly.
“Sean. Sean you’re scaring me.” I said shakily, starting to crawl backwards slowly. His lips turned into an evil grin.
“Good.” He said. I raised my eyebrows and stood up quickly, walking backwards as he walked towards me.
“You’d better run.” He said in a low voice. I opened my eyes widely and started to run as fast as I could as he started to run after me.
“Ahhh… someone HELP!!!” I called out. They were all laughing. I looked backwards, seeing Sean a couple of meters away from me.
“Abs!!! Help me!!!” I called out to him. He laughed.
“You brought it on yourself hun.” He called back. I took a deep breath and stopped, turning to look at Sean. He stopped running as well.
“Sean please… look I’m sorry… really!” I said.
“Yeah, me too.” He said as he started to run again. I screamed and ran over to the ladies toilets and shut the door behind me. I sighed heavily.
“He’s mad.” I said out loud. I walked over to the sinks and splashed cold water on my face. The affect of the alcohol started to drift away and my head started to spin. Suddenly I heard a soft sob coming from behind me. I turned around quickly but there was no one there.
“Is someone here?” I called out. No one answered. I bent down, looking at all the cabins from beneath, looking for a pair of legs but couldn’t see any. I started to open them, moving one by one and opening the doors but finding nothing. Finally I got to the last one, I opened the door and to my absolute surprise I found Sabs sitting there with her legs brought up to her chest and her head buried between her knees. She looked up at me, her eyes red and puffy. I sighed.
“Hun are you ok?” I asked her worriedly. She didn’t say anything, she just looked at me with a sad expression on her face, a couple of tears running down her cheeks.
“Come here.” I said and opened my arms. She stood up and hugged me. I soothed her back, trying to calm her down. She pulled away after a couple of seconds and walked over to the sinks and looked at the mirror. She sighed.
“Look at me. Look what he’s doing to me.” She said softly, her voice just above a whisper. I walked over to her, standing beside her, looking at our reflections in the mirror.
“So don’t let him do this to you.” I said. She broke into a bitter laugh.
“You think I like being like that? I’m trying, it’s not that simple.” She said.
“I know. But you’ve got to try harder.” I said. “There isn’t any other option.”
She looked at me and then looked down, sighing heavily she walked away and leaned on one of the walls.
“There is one.” She said. I raised my eyebrows, fearing of what she’s going to say next.
“Sabs I don’t think it’d be smart of you to do it again, you saw what happe…”
“I’m not talking on that.” She cut me off. I frowned.
“Than…”
“I’m talking about moving away again.” She cut me off once again. My jaw dropped.
“What?” I called. She looked down. “You’re not serious.” I said. She nodded her head and looked up at me again.
“I can’t stay here like that. I cannot stand seeing them together. It hurts too much Gal.” She said sadly.
“I know it is but… but…” I said, trying to think of something to say. I sighed, giving up. She smiled weakly at me.
“I think that’s the first time I saw you giving up in an argument.” She said, a couple of tears dropping down her cheeks. I felt that burn in my nose, that light burn I felt every time I knew I’m going to cry.
“When are you going to leave?” I asked her sadly. She shrugged her shoulders.
“In a couple of days I guess. No point in me staying here any longer.” She said. I felt a tear sliding down my cheek.
“I’m gonna miss ya.” I said, a couple more tears sliding down my cheeks. She nodded her head.
“It’s not like we haven’t been here before.” She said.
“I know, but it was nice having you around again.” I said, wiping the tears away as more tears started to go down my cheeks. I saw her raising her eyebrows.
“Girl, It’s not like I’m leaving the country.” She laughed lightly. I laughed as well. She walked over to me and hugged me tightly.
“I’ll be 3 hours train drive away.” She said. I nodded my head, trying to stop crying. She pulled away looking at me with an amused look.
“What?” I called out. “It’s not me, it’s the alcohol driving my emotions mad.” I said. She laughed and hugged me again.
“Gal? Gal you there? They wanna close the club, get out.” I heard Abs’s voice calling from outside.
“C’mon, let’s get out of here.” I said as we walked over to the door. I opened the door and we got outside. Abs raised his eyebrows at the sight of us, both with teary eyes.
“You ok?” he asked. We looked at each other and laughed.
“We’re fine.” We both said together.
“C’mon, everyone is in the cars already.” He said, leading us outside to the parking lot and towards the three cars that were standing there. Abs, May and Julie were the only one that were sober so they were the ones to drive the cars. Both of us got into Abs’s car, luckily the ones that were inside already were Scott and Ilil, a bit busy you can say.
“Get a room.” I called at them and grinned as both shot me evil looks. I got to the passenger sit and laid my head back closing my eyes. My head was killing me and I felt like someone was hitting my head with a hammer. I felt the engine start off and we drove away.
I felt myself move, someone was picking me up. I tried to open my eyes but the minute I did my head started spinning so bad I was sure I’m going to faint.
“Wha?” I said quietly, trying to raise my head up.
“Shh.” I heard Abs’s voice whispering to me. I managed to open my eyes and looked up at him. He gave me a comforting smile and I smiled back, leaning my head on his chest. He entered my house and to my absolute surprise everyone was there. I frowned.
“What are they all doing here?” I asked Abs, half a sleep.
“I wasn’t about driving them all to their houses.” He said. I nodded my head. Half of them were already a sleep on the couches and on the carpet. He started to walk upstairs slowly.
“Hey, why do you get to sleep on a comfortable bed?” Scott called after us.
“If your girl would have been living here then you would have too.” Sean smirked at him from behind us. He and Maya trying to climb the stairs slowly. Abs entered my room and kicked the door closed with his leg. He put me down on our bed gently. I smiled dreamily.
“You are such an angle.” I told him, smiling from my sleep. I rested my head on the soft pillow.
“Come here.” He said, trying to sit me down.
“Wha?” I asked confused. He took my top off.
“Abs, not now. I’m tired.” I whined. He rolled his eyes.
“Be quiet.” He told me. He got up, the minute he loosed his grip on me I fell right back on the pillow. He sighed and went to look through my closet. He took out my pajamas and put the shirt on me. I could barely keep my eyes open. I lay back on the pillow and curled up in a ball. I heard him sigh. He took the blanket and covered me, kissing me lightly on the forehead. I smiled faintly.
“Happy Birthday love.” He whispered quietly. Minutes later I felt him climbing next to me. He wrapped his arm around me and we both finally went to sleep.
CHAPTER 29
I opened my eyes slowly and saw the room spinning around me so fast that I couldn’t keep my eyes open and shut them back quickly. I moaned and buried my head in the pillow.
“Good morning to you too love.” I heard Abs say from beside me. I mumbled him a “whatever” from my pillow. He took a strand of my hair and picked it up so he could see my face. I opened one eye.
“I think I’m going to be sick.” I said slowly.
“Umm, so you’d better head to the loo, don’t you think?” he asked me.
“But I can’t get up.” I whined. He sighed and took the covers off me.
“Come here.” He said and took my hand, pulling me up so I was standing. He led me to the bathroom.
“First of all take these.” He said and gave me two pills he just took out from the cupboard above the sink. He handed me a glass of water and I swallowed the pills. I felt the room starting to spin around me.
“My head.” I said and grabbed my forehead, not even feeling myself falling backwards.
“Whoa.” Abs called, quickly catching me. “You’re supposed to be standing ok?” he said. I nodded my head and leaned myself on the sink. He walked to the shower and turned the hot water on.
“C’mon, get in.” he said. I turned around and started to walk to the shower but he grabbed me just before I stepped in.
“Hun, don’t you think it’d be better if you took your clothes off first?” he asked. I looked down and sighed.
“Right…” I mumbled. I started to take my shirt off but stopped. “Aren’t you going to leave?” I asked him. He raised his eyebrows.
“Why?” he asked. “I wanna make sure you won’t drown yourself there.” He said. I rolled my eyes.
“Abs.” I said.
“Gal I have seen you naked tons of times.” He said and rolled his eyes.
“Still Abs.” I whined. He sighed.
“Fine, but if you do drown don’t come and blame me.” He said and got out of the bathroom and closed the door behind him. I took my clothes off and stepped into the shower.
30 Minutes later.
I stepped out of my room, hearing lots of noises coming from the living room and kitchen. I frowned and stepped downstairs, seeing everyone eating in the kitchen, some in the living room. I sighed heavily and moaned lightly at all the noise.
“People!” I called out. They all stopped their doings and looked at me. “Please, stop yelling.” I said. They all raised their eyebrows at me and continued what they were doing. I sighed and walked to sit on one of the chairs in the kitchen. Abs sat down next to me.
“What are they all still doing here?” I asked him. He shrugged his shoulders. Maya and Sean were no where to be seen, Scott and Ilil sat in the living room deep in conversation, “what have they got to talk about so much?” I thought to myself. Suddenly I saw Ritchie running to the loo then heard some not very nice noises. J, Liz and May were sitting in front of me eating.
“Want some?” J asked me, taking a piece from his egg on his fork and holding it in front of my face. I swallowed hard and felt as if I’m going to be sick. I stood up quickly and walked back up to my room, hearing them laughing behind me. I shut the door and collapsed on the bed, lying on my back with my eyes closed. Minutes later I felt someone sitting on the bed. I opened my eyes lightly and saw Abs lying beside me.
“What?” I asked him. He shrugged his shoulders.
“Nothing.” He simply said. I sighed and closed my eyes, turning on the bed so I was lying with my back to him.
“Anything wrong?” he asked.
“I just want to be alone.” I told him. I heard him sigh and get up from the bed. I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep.
I woke up a couple of hours later feeling so much better, the headache was gone and the room finally stopped spinning. I stood up and went to the bathroom, I washed my face and got out and went downstairs. I saw the mail lying on the table. I picked it up nervously and went through the letters… a bill… another bill… another bill… I sighed heavily. Nothing. Two weeks ‘till the start of the year and not even one letter, not one lousy letter to at least tell me I didn’t get in. I threw the stack of letters back on the table and went to sit down in the living room. I flicked the telly on and searched for something interesting. I smiled as I saw Friends was on.
“It’s a cat.” Rachel cried out.
“That is not a cat.” Joey told her, throwing the ball to Ross.
“Why is it inside out?” Ross asked her. I laughed when suddenly the phone rang.
“Hello?” I asked into the receiver, my eyes still fixed on the telly.
“Gal?” Sabs’s voice was on the other line. I smiled.
“Hey.” I said, turning the telly off. There were lots of noises in the background. “Where are you?” I asked her.
“Umm, well… at the train station.” She blurted out.
“What?” I cried out.
“I’m sorry, I meant to tell you, but I just didn’t want a touchy goodbye.” She said. I rolled my eyes.
“Me? Touchy?” I asked her. She laughed.
“But I wanted to see you before you left.” I said.
“You can come and visit me whenever you feel like, and you can bring the others with you, I didn’t really get the time to say goodbye to any of them either.” She said. I sighed.
“I guess.” I said quietly.
“C’mon it’s not that bad… just think I came for a short visit and went back home, aye?” she said, trying to sound cheerful, even though I could hear she was the total opposite of that.
“I guess.” I said again.
“You’re not mad?” she asked.
“And if I am? Would it help?” I asked.
“No…” she said quietly.
“Exactly.” I said quietly back.
“Listen hun I gotta go, I’ll talk to you when I’ll get back ok?” she asked.
“Yeah sure, bye.” I said and put down the phone. Right as I was about to turn the telly on again the door opened.
“Hey.” Maya called out. I turned my head to her and smiled.
“Hey.” She put her bag on the table, her eyes landing on the stack of mail, she sighed and looked at me. I smiled weakly.
“Nothing.” I said. She nodded her head and said nothing.
“How’s Sean doing?” I asked her. She walked to the living room and sat next to me.
“Fine.” She said and sighed heavily. I frowned.
“It doesn’t sound like that.” I told her and smiled. She didn’t smile back, I raised my eyebrows.
“He didn’t tell you?” she asked.
“Who? Who didn’t tell me?” I asked confused.
“Never mind.” She said and stood up.
“Maya!” I called and stood up as well. “Who didn’t tell me what?” I asked again.
“Go talk to Abs.” She said and started to walk upstairs.
“Why?” I called after her. She sighed heavily and stopped climbing the stairs. There was a long pause before she decided to speak.
“They’re going on tour… in two weeks.” She said. I raised my eyebrows in amazement. I was shocked.
“For how long?” I asked her quietly, still in disbelieve.
“You’d better go and talk with him.” She said again, climbing the stairs again.
“Maya!” I called angrily. “For how long?” She sighed heavily and stopped again. She turned to look at me, a sad expression on her face.
“For two months.” She said and turned around, climbing the stairs again, not waiting to see my reaction.
My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it, and he didn’t tell me… And for so long.
“Two months… two months…” I repeated that in my mind to try and comprehend what she just said. “It can’t be…”
I sat down on the couch again and flicked the telly back on, luckily Friends was still on. I brought my legs up to my body, hugging them. The only thing that really could cheer me up was Friends.
“Gal, c’mon you have to talk to him.” Maya told me. I was sitting on my bed staring out to space. The phone rang again, I winced at the sound of it. Maya sighed and picked it up again.
“Hello.” She said into the receiver. It’s not like we both didn’t know who it was.
“Hey Abs.” She said. I shook my head no and she sighed.
“No… she’s not here… no Abs really… I don’t know where she is… I can’t help you Abs… I don’t know what’s the matter… ok… bye.” She said and hung up. “The guy’s really starting to get worried.” She said. I bit my lower lip and took a deep breath.
“Not my problem.” I said and stood up, walking out of the room.
“Where are you going?” she called after me.
“I need some fresh air.” I said and walked downstairs, getting out of the house.
I walked around for god knows how long, I wasn’t so sure where I was and it started to get dark. I turned a corner and came across a park. I walked in there and wandered around there a bit, until I found an empty bench and sat on it. I looked up at the skies, the dark colors that were painting them were so beautiful, I smiled at the sight and closed my eyes, breathing in the hot air.
“Gal?” a voice, which I did not recognize, asked me. I opened my eyes to find Ilil standing right beside the bench. I frowned.
“Yeah?” I asked her, straightening myself.
“You ok?” she asked.
“I’m fine.” I said quietly.
“Oh…” she said and bit her lower lip. “Can I sit down?” she asked. I forced a smile and nodded my head. “What are you doing here?” she asked.
“Nothing, just walking around.” I said. She raised her eyebrows but didn’t say anything else. There was silence for a long period before she spoke again.
“I’m not a bad person you know.” She said. I turned to look at her and nodded my head lightly.
“I know.” I said quietly. She nodded her head as well.
“And I understand why you acted the way you did… but I just want you to know that Scott is very important to me as well, and I wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.” She said. I nodded my head again.
“I know.” I said quietly once more. She smiled.
“Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?” she asked quietly. I smiled weakly and shook my head, tears started to form in my eyes unwillingly. I looked down and closed my eyes hard to try and stop them. She put her hand on my back and I instantly jumped and stood up. I took a deep breath.
“I’m fine.” I said and wiped the tears quickly from my face. She sighed.
“I know we don’t know each other like, at all, but you can tell me what’s wrong.” She said softly. I looked up at her through my tears.
“You can’t help me.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Believe me, I do!” I said and looked down. “It’s just… it’s for so long… and he didn’t even bother to tell me…” I whispered, talking more to myself than to her.
“The tour uh?” she suddenly said. I looked at her quickly.
“It’s ok… I know what you feel.”
“No, you don’t!” I called out. “At least he told you! He didn’t even bother to tell me that!” I called out angrily. I felt like screamin’ my head off in that park, I wanted to take it all out. I looked at Ilil, she wasn’t looking at me, she was looking down. I laughed bitterly.
“I told you, you can’t help me.” I said. She looked up at me.
“You need to go and talk to him, there is probably a reason why he didn’t tell you.”
“You don’t know that.”
“You don’t know that either.” She said and stood up. “Just talk to him, it might help.”
The moon was high, up in the sky by the time I got home. I entered the house and walked straight upstairs, ignoring the voices that were screaming down in my belly to eat something. I opened the door to my room and gasped when I saw Abs sitting on my bed, watching the telly. I frowned.
“What are you doing here?” I asked him angrily. He turned to look at me quickly, surprised to suddenly see me in the room.
“Gal.” He said and stood up as I stepped away. He stopped walking and frowned at me.
“What’s wrong?” he asked. I took a deep breath.
“Just leave, just go.”
“Why?”
“Cos I don’t want to see you.” I said, looking straight in his eyes. His eyes grew bigger with surprise.
“Can you please let me explain?” he asked quietly. I shook my head, fighting the tears back.
“No.” I said, my voice just above a whisper. He dropped his head down.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I didn’t want to tell you because…”
“I said I don’t want to hear it.” I yelled at him. He shot his head back up.
“Don’t do this.” He said softly.
“Don’t do what? You’re the one who accused me of not telling you anything and you’re the one who kept away the fact that you’re going away for two months.” I yelled at him again.
“I know what I did and I said I’m sorry. I just didn’t think it’d effect you that much.” He said. My jaw dropped at the sound of what he just said.
“You didn’t think it’d effect me the fact that you’re leaving for two months?” I asked him in disbelieve. He shook his head.
“I didn’t think it’d effect you so much the fact I didn’t tell you… I meant to tell you later.” He said.
“When? When you were on the bloody plane on your way to god’s know where?” I called at him angrily. He sighed and shook his head.
“I just didn’t want to worry you with that, not until I had to.” He said. I didn’t know what to say. I was so mad at him but I wanted to forgive him so much.
He stepped closer to me, this time I didn’t step away. He stopped inches away from me, I could feel his arms slowly doing their way up around my back and then he pulled me into a tight hug. I struggled at first, tried to get away from him, it hurt too much to be around him and it will hurt more with time.[/i:7a
