E. Certificate of Registration.
1. The owner or lessee of a horse may, at his or her own expense at the time of registration, or anytime thereafter, request HYPP or OLWS testing. To insure positive identification of the tested animal, such testing will be conducted through an Association-approved laboratory, either in conjunction with parentage verification or in accordance with procedures approved by the Association.
2. Genetic test results obtained through the Association procedures and subsequently printed on the certificate of registration will also have “through APHA approved testing” printed after the genetic testing results.
a. After January 1, 2008, certificates of registration for horses whose dam and sire both have genetic test results of HYPP-Negative recorded with the Association, or have been designed HYPP-Negative based on the test result of ancestors, will have “HYPP Negative based on testing results of ancestors” automatically printed on their certificate of registration.
b. After January 1, 2008, certificates of registration for horses that have no HYPP genetic test results recorded in APHA records will have “HYPP-No genetic test result on file” automatically printed on their certificate of registration.
c. After January 1, 2008 certificates of registration for horses that have dam and/or sire having HYPP-Positive genetic test results recorded in APHA records will have “HYPP-This horse could test Positive based upon ancestral test results.” automatically printed on their certificate of registration.
d. After January 1, 2008, certificates of registration for horses whose dam and sire both have genetic test results of “OLWS-Negative recorded with the Association or whose dam and/or sire have been 1
designated OLWS-Negative based on the test result of ancestors will have OLWS Negative based on testing results of ancestors” automatically printed on their certificate of registration.
e. After January 1, 2008, certificates of registration for horses that have no OLWS genetic test results recorded in APHA records will have “OLWS-No genetic test result on file” automatically printed on their certificate of registration.
f. After January 1, 2008, certificates of registration for horses that have dam and/or sire having OLWS-Positive genetic test results recorded in APHA records will have “OLWS—This horse could test Positive based upon ancestral test result” automatically printed on their certificate of registration. APHA suggests genetic testing prior to breeding to another horse that may also test OLWS-Positive.”
3. The results of such testing will be recorded accordingly in APHA records and printed upon the horse’s registration certificate. Upon surrendering of any existing certificate of registration, a new certificate of registration will be issued in accordance with Association procedures regarding Duplicate and Corrected certificates. C. A name may be reserved for a period of one year (1) year from the date the written request is received. A Name Reservation fee of $100 must accompany the written request. If the name is not used within the one year time period, the name will be released without notice, unless prior to the expiration of the reservation, the name is again reserved for another one year period and the appropriate $100 fee is again paid.
