Individual Eventing : Medal contender KARUSO (FIN) injured
ATHENS, 10 August - One of the favourites for gold in the Individual Eventing at the 2004 Athens Games, Piia PANTSU (FIN) is out of competition following an injury to her 11-year-old gelding KARUSO.
PANTSU and KARUSO took individual bronze at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera in Spain and were regarded as one of the combinations to look for in Athens.
KARUSO was injured while travelling on a lorry. The horse was due to arrive in Athens by plane on Wednesday, 11 August.
Following the withdrawl of PANTSU, the Olympic qualification criteria allow Viorel BUBAU (ROM) to compete. BUBAU, 44, makes his Olympic debut with CARNIVAL, the horse he rode in last year's European Championships in Punchestown, Ireland.

Vind het inderdaad erg jammer. Er is wel sprake van veel pech in de Olympische paardensport hoor!
