Cockpit’s sire Cantus is already legendary as a sire of showjumpers, the most notable being Willi Melliger’s giant superstar, Calvaro, as well as the highly regarded stallion, Come On. The dam sire, Pit I is widely regarded as the best stallion son of the outstanding Pilot. The mare family has produced such stallion stars as Abhang I, II & III and showjumpers extraordinaire - Deister, ridden by Paul Schockemöhle, and Zukunft ridden by his brother, Alwin. Cockpit easily won his performance test at Medingen, as a result of his extraordinarily high rideability values. Shortly afterwards he was one of the most expensive horses ever at the Westfalien auction. Numerous wins and placings qualified him for the 2001 Bundeschampionate. Though this is an outstanding jumping pedigree, its versatility for dressage is well proven with Cockpit’s own success and that of his progeny. His first crop of foals were stamped with excellent type and outstanding movement.
