SOME Hollywood stars squander money on hookers; Viggo Mortensen spends his on TJ. To clarify: TJ is the horse who plays the title role in Hidalgo, Mortensen’s first movie post-Lord Of The Rings, his chance to prove that he can cut it as the star of a film that doesn’t require him to kick orc butt. He and TJ got along real well during the four-month shoot, much of which took place in Morocco’s Sahara Desert; so well, in fact, that he bought the horse when the film wrapped because he wanted to “continue the relationship”. TJ now lives near Los Angeles, where he enjoys regular shampoos and hangs out with the horse Mortensen rode in the Rings trilogy.
Adopting horses is typical of the man who is, arguably, the hottest American actor of the moment. You might even call the gesture Mortensian. It has all the right ingredients – loyalty, manly sensitivity, a pinch of mysticism. When Russell Crowe yaks about his herd of cattle, you accept it as part of his tough guy shtick; when Mortensen buys a horse, you just know it’s because, somehow, the animal spoke to him, that he had to have it. Mortensen puts the “must” into Mustang – untamed compulsions drive him.

Mortensen keeps TJ close by his work in Hollywood so he can ride him as often as possible. The Paint Horse is presently stabled by Mortensen’s friend just outside Los Angeles. Eventually, Mortensen said he will bring TJ to his ranch in Idaho to live with the horses he purchased from the sets of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Maar dit zegt nog niet welke hij heeft gekocht van LOTR.
Ik weet dat hij de bruine Brego heeft (stond in interview met Suddeutsche Zeitung), maar ik weet dus niet of hij ook Hasufel heeft.
dit zei hij in SZ:

You bought T.J., the Mustang that you rode for "Hidalgo".

We got along great. I also bought the big dark brown horse that I rode in "Lord of the Rings". A mixed blood.

Blijkbaar dan toch niet Hasufel.

Dat spreek je uit als "Haa-soe-fell", en het betekent iets in de zin van bruine vacht.

Ja, dat zag ik later op een site, maar ben nu zo gewend Hasaful te zeggen Tong uitsteken

hmmmm misschien moet ik die film toch eens kijken om te weten waar jullie het over hebben hij heeft ig wel alle rijspullen zoals zadel enzo meegenomen naar de opnames van lotr van de set van Hidalgo... neem aan dat je ze dan ook wil gebruiken en waar ligt dat zadel beter op dan het paard waar die van is? Knipoog
